"Too Linear". Doesn't necessarily make it crap. Anyway cannot wait for the next build of the UDK!

LukaX235813d ago

Wow, I just saw the interview on GameTrailers... This is nowhere near newsworthy...

candystop5813d ago

It's only crap for me me when there are a bunch of invisible walls and hardly any exploration.

R6ex5813d ago

No fun having only 1 direction to advance.

Look at how open the Crysis 1 & 2 environments are. Halo 3 was great for the same reason.

radzy5813d ago (Edited 5813d ago )

just when the next version(gears 3) of their franchise is going to release , they start speaking crap about the former version(gears 2).
why the hell do they take this dumb , non-convincing approach.
gears 2 was never a sandbox game !
there are better ways to make your fanbase buy your next iteration without doing this.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35813d ago

The first Gears was definitely more open the part 2 though.

badz1495813d ago

why didn't he use a better explanation? like "too glitchy" perhaps?

I disagree Cliff.
Ya know I think I'm starting to see a pattern here.
I hope I'm wrong, I seems like he's not hyping Gears 3 but bashing Gears 2.

Gears 2 was a great game even with it's flaws.
Which BTW I think were blown WAAAAY out of proportion.

Yes Gears 1 was a great game too but too many folks look at it through rose colored glasses.

theonlylolking5813d ago

If you can admit your mistakes as a dev then you know the stuff might get fixed with the next game.

Excalibur5813d ago

Of course there is always room for improvement and who else would know more than the developer?

It just seems like to me that thing is some sort of subtle reverse hype.

mcslick1015813d ago

You know what they say "Fail early, fail often", that way you will learn and correct your mistakes. Too bad Gears 2 failed too late.

hamoor5813d ago

You know cliff...that
Is not the problem with geow2
The REAL problem is.......THE ONLINE SUCKED SOOO BAD
You can make 5 glitches by just moving around....and don't get me started at host advantage
Here is a little easy solution for this problem is release a beta for geow3 I mean how hard is that???

BeaArthur5813d ago

Agreed, multiplayer could be really good but it's plagued by bugs and glitches and Gears will never be what it should until they address that.

Gears Of War Creator Is "Thrilled" That The Franchise Isn't Xbox Exclusive Anymore

Gears of War creator Cliff 'CliffyB' Bleszinski is "thrilled" more people will be able to experience the original game when it arrives on PlayStation.

Gears of War: Reloaded is set to be released later this month, on 26th August, across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It's a revamped edition of the original Gears of War, which first debuted on Xbox almost 20 years ago (yes, it has really been that long).

Ouch. Since when do we consider Cliffy B the "co-creator" of Gears?

maximusprime_270d ago

Good spot, title corrected. I copied title from Gamespot because I couldn't fit or amend Eurogamer's long title..

Yes Cliffy B is the creator

VenomUK270d ago (Edited 270d ago )

He’s changing his tune. When Microsoft bought the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games Cliff Blezinski gloatingly wrote: ‘I suppose this puts the nail in the coffin of the question “Will Gears ever come to PlayStation?”’

Maybe he’s in line for all the royalties that will come from the PS5 remaster.

Cacabunga269d ago

I haven’t seen this face for an eternity..

Doc-Bobko270d ago

Best thing for this franchise is to be multiplatform.

Shane Kim270d ago

So why did you do it exclusive in the first place?

ocelot07270d ago

Microsoft offered a lot of money is my guess. I remember they actually had a PS3 build up and running (not great mind you). Not sure if they planned on releasing Gears 2 and future installments at that point. My guess yes but Microsoft made a deal to make it exclusive and then out right buying the IP.

Reaper22_269d ago

Just like sony did Resistance .

franwex269d ago (Edited 269d ago )

Not to mention that it was the game that convinced Microsoft to use 512MB instead of 256 of RAM when they showed them the build difference. Microsoft was so impressed that they HAD to have it.

UnbreakableAlex269d ago

Back in the day Gears was graphically top notch and Playstation didn't have the power to run it. Nowdays the hardware is pretty equal.

TriniOutsider269d ago

The PS3 had plenty of power to run.

DarXyde269d ago

PS3 was pretty capable hardware and it had a better (albeit difficult) CPU than the Xbox 360, though Xbox 360 had a better GPU. It was generally a wash between the two. The RAM difference came down to configuration (unified on X360 + 10MB EDRAM, split RAM pools on PS3).

Don't know what you're going on about.

1Victor264d ago

@breakablealex: “ Back in the day Gears was graphically top notch and Playstation didn't have the power to run it.”
Is that why PS3 low/mid gen games was looking far better than Xbox 360? Is that why uncharted beat gears at the game of the year awards and the other 2 ether won or was nominated while gears was left at the lock doors 😱

.
“ Nowdays the hardware is pretty equal.“
😩🤦🏿
I see the obscured decease is spreading 😱

SockeyBoy270d ago

There are two developers I can't stand, this dude and Phil Fish

YoungKingDoran269d ago

I think Cliff has been humbled in recent times and seems alot better than in the past

Hereandthere269d ago

As an xbox only player, im happy that final fantasy is not exclusive to sony anymore. nice trade.

UnbreakableAlex269d ago

Unfortunately FF games get worse and worse...

jznrpg269d ago (Edited 269d ago )

I wouldn’t hold your breath as FF16 didn’t sell at all on Xbox. Maybe one more chance if that

gold_drake269d ago (Edited 269d ago )

trade?
girl. lets wait and see.

square goes where they get the most money from. be it exclusivity or not.

Gears of War 2 Remake was in development “10 years ago” but was scrapped by Xbox

Ayi Sanchez: "Old work. I did this 10 years ago now as part of a material test for a remaster of Gears of War 2 that never happened."

RaidenBlack432d ago

lolz,
hope we're still getting Gears 2 & 3 for PC, as per rumors

Cacabunga432d ago

Xbox always taking the right decisions

XiNatsuDragnel432d ago

Wow... just wow Microsoft sigh at it again 😑

Lightning77432d ago

Weird, in mean they had no studios to make anything really new so there's a part of me thats kinda glad they scrapped it. If they released this back then it would of gotten ridiculed for remakes and remastering stuff. Now they have new and interesting games so the collection is harmless.

CrimsonWing69432d ago

Geez, Xbox, something like that I would’ve bought Day 1. Great business decisions over there.

lucasnooker432d ago

10 years ago it wasn’t such a big deal. The games were only a few years old by that point

CrimsonWing69432d ago

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition came out in 2015 (essentially 10 years ago), having a follow-up to that on the then next-gen console would’ve absolutely been welcomed, in my book.

LoveSpuds432d ago

I can only assume the the Gears of War Remaster flopped so they decided to scrap the other remakes?

Seems short sighted to me as I really enjoyed the 1st remaster. Regardless, I'll snap up some remakes to play on my PS5.
