E3 2010: PlayStation Move Has DualShock Support

Yesterday, the world found out when the PlayStation Move is coming and how much it's going to cost. However, when the price tags popped up at the Sony press conference, there was a bit of grumbling from the audience. In the United States, the PlayStation Move wand will cost $49.99 and the navigation controller – the little bit with an analog stick – will cost an additional $29.99.

An $80 entry cost to Sony's new method of control? People weren't thrilled. However, it turns out that the navigation controller isn't a necessity.

@GreenRingsOfLife:

The Move does the rumbling, if you use it with a Dualshock (or Sixaxis, or Navigation Controller), as I understand it.

sikbeta5820d ago

Yeah, while you pretend a virtual animal is licking you, right green?

Unbelievable

O-T

This is Kind of old News, Sony Showed LBP with Move + the DS3, so yeah, it's old news, also navigation controller isn't a necessity, it's for your comfort if you don't like grabbing the DS3 with One Hand, Move does all the Magic and you can get one with the camera + a Game for less than $100, then I'm sure it'll be some deals for the Navigation controller, so no problem, the Device deliver Great Precision and can be Used with Every Kind of Game, so it's a great investment, just imagine a RTS with Move...

BubbleSystemSuck5820d ago

GreenRingsOfLife...

yeah... because play RAIL games is soooooo NEXT GEN

N4BmpS5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

I think Greenring needs to take that dee-Eye-See-kay out of his mouth because that endless brain he's giving is making an even bigger dummy.

With that said, I think the price of the Move should come down mostly for the sub-controller. 29.99 is a little steep and using a duashock would dull out the experience of the the move controller. But yeah this isn't anything new, I guess they eother forgot or weren't paying attention.

HolyOrangeCows5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

So I just need the Move controller and the PS Eye? Cool. $90 isn't nothing, but it's not horrible.

I'll probably just get the bundle. LOL, only $10 more for a game, so...why not?

.
BTW, they probably should have mentioned this at E3 :/

Bigpappy5819d ago

Telling people to use a controller with one hand to play a full game is as dumb as I have herd. It is possible but hugely incovenient. The reason they made the sub-controller, is because you need it. Comfort is very important for gaming.

MysticStrummer5819d ago

Your virtual reality has very limited potential, GRoL. Good luck with that. OT - Of course Move has rumble. Sheesh.

thebudgetgamer5819d ago (Edited 5819d ago )

i plan on buying the whole thing, but holding the dual shock like that will be annoying, uncomfortable and wtf is the point.

Sarick5819d ago

If I use move this controller + move would be the way I'd want to play.

I can understand why you'd think the controller in one hand would e a big deal. I do have my reasons for it not being overly complex. You see I play an mmo and have grown accustomed to using 2 joysticks, a mic, 2 controllers, 2 keyboards with mouse support and a video switch.

I see the move controller more like the mouse control part but with more 3 dimensional capability. When I want to type I'll put down the controller. It's the same way if your texting online games on psn.

I figure on my part I could handle it, but like you said for some people this might be an issue.

thebudgetgamer5819d ago

i think its good that people have the option to play that way if they choose.

i did kind of come off like a self important kermugeon.

Basically what you need is the Move controller ($50) and an Eye ($40 or $30, I forgot how much they are now).

ChozenWoan5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

$50 for Move
$30 for Nav
$30 for Eye

Crusade5820d ago

The bundle is 100 dollars

Sevir045820d ago

it's pretty much an unbeatable price really the game the eye and the controllers all at $100

Bodyboarder_VGamer5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

the bundle does not come with nav so 130+ tax for literally a single funcional controller. And there are many games that require 2 move controllers... And what if you're going to play with a second person? 50+30=80 on top of the $130 for the first controller+ TAX =(

This is much more expensive than a $200 kinect

Fart_Bomb_Fire5820d ago

at least this is reliable tech and is supported by hardcore games

N4BmpS5820d ago

Yeah buying the bundle saves you money in the long run if think a bout.

-bundle 1(is what I'm calling it) cost $99
you get: 1 Move controller, 1 Eyetoy, and a game
-Bundle 2 or actually bundle 1: PS3/MOVE FAMILY ETC. 399
If you get bundle one just buy a nav controller you'll spend roughly around $140 buuuuut I don't see sales for this pick up until the Sorcery is released, others might buy it though, I just really want the Sorcery.

Im holding a remote in my right hand and my controller in the left .. its comfortable :D

aceitman5819d ago (Edited 5819d ago )

i think its bull who ever thinks its too much a wii mote with motion plus cost 54.99 $ and a nunchuck cost 20.00$ so 75$ for those 2 compared too 80 FOR sonys 2 so what u need to buy a cam 40$ or get a game bundle with it for 60$ do the homework it aint free and the wiimotes been out for a while already and kinect is 150$ so what u want something good its not going to be cheap even when its new

Syronicus5819d ago

Exactly. Anybody that is upset about the price point for the move setup is simply out of their mind. Compared to the wii it is at max, 30 bucks more but you get three things the wii nor kinect can offer, true 1:1 ratio motion control, HD games that apeal to the hard core gamer, and a greater level of versatility. At least the wii and move offer vibration.

This may be the first time a sixaxis is superiour to the dualshock3- why?
Sixaxis is easy to hold in one hand, dualshock is heavier and a bit of a strain.

Trroy5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

Yep, the Sixaxis will make a better Navigation Controller substitute than a Dualshock 3, due to weight... or lack thereof.

TheJudgement5820d ago

Both are relatively lightweight and you have to be pretty frail if the DS3 is a strain. Dont see much a difference.

tinybigman5820d ago

can stop bitching about sub controller price now.

JackBNimble5820d ago

You add it up all together it will still be less expensive then kinect, besides that, the move controller is optional for some games.

TheJudgement5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

How you can use a DS3 + move since DS3 requires two hands to use while you need a hand for Move last time I checked we humans have only 2 hands lol but at least its a option that you can use the DS3 until you pick up a navi gl to ppl trying to use move + ds3.

Trroy5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

The Move has all of the buttons of the right-side of the DS3. You basically only need the DS3 left stick, and L1+L2+L3, for the games that even support the Nav Controller.. thus you can use it one-handed.

TheJudgement5819d ago

and not comfortable at all if I intend to buy the Move it will be mostly games that support the navi also like Socom etc so I will buy the navi with Move. Using the DS3 will be like if navi breaks and no other options, which then you mind as well just use the DS3 alone.

Lombax5819d ago

Extend your middle finger across the bottom of the dualshock for added stability and balance.

Seems to work for me, but then again I am a 26 year old male so my hands are relatively large.

See, all this isn't relevant.

All I want Move for... Is my ratmonkey in Eyepet.
No, not a want.
I -need- that little ratmonkey in my life.

Sony makes its ‘Move’ into PS3 motion control

Sony’s answer to wireless motion control offers three advantages over Nintendo’s technology: the movements are a lot more precise; because it’s a camera-based system, many games can put you in the game (such as seeing yourself on the screen in “Start the Party” and “EyePet”); and the PS3 offers high-definition graphics for a more photorealistic experience over the Wii’s standard-definition visuals.

Wow this game looks interesting, I cant see it working co-op style as a friend helping would probably lead to an argument lol. Its only $10 so i will give it a try.

Rip-Ridah5721d ago

Well worth the price of admission. There is a demo in the PS Store if you'd like to try before you buy.

Lovable5721d ago

This game is the reason to buy a Move. It's absolutely addicting. Like I said before, it's simple, yet so good.

PirateThom5721d ago

Tried the demo, while I doubt I'd buy the game, this may be the best "demo" for Move, accuracy, depth... just insane.

despair5721d ago

yea the guy who reviewed it is an idiot.

Cant spell Ignorance without IGN.

kaveti66165721d ago

I don't follow. If everyone else likes something and IGN doesn't, that makes IGN ignorant?

Do you guys think before you post over-used slogans and mantras like sheep?

coolbeans5721d ago

That's one of the biggest problems with the internet as a whole. Your reasoning is sound, and hopefully others will at least contemplate what you've said. (bubbles :D)

callahan095720d ago (Edited 5720d ago )

Yes, Kaveti, it does. This game is excellent. IGN giving it a 3.5 is disingenuous to their readers and unfair to the developers who poured their lives into making this game for however long. It has an impeccable presentation with crisp, pretty graphics, good music, a very soothing voice to the actress narrating everything, lots of variety in the missions, fun multiplayer, and incredibly accurate and impressive controls that do an excellent job of showing how the Move is a unique control scheme: this game couldn't be done on the Wii or Kinect, it requires the precision of the pointing device, which Kinect lacks, and the 3D depth tracking that the Wii lacks. It's a brilliant and inexpensive showcase for Move offering compelling puzzle experiences.

A 3.5 out of 10 is just simply the WRONG score. No opinion about it. It completely fails to acknowledge the factual features present in the game, from design to presentation to control and implementation of those schemes. It IS a good game. And the fact that IGN is the only reviewer that didn't like it is more evidence to the fact that the game itself is good, well-made, deserving of praise, and that IGN failed to see the title for what it is and tore it down for lack of that understanding.

foss35720d ago

IGN used to be good... until years ago when they started putting ads everywhere they went to the shitter.

They were one of the first sites that redirected you to a full page ad before sending you to your link. I remember seeing those and writing an email to IGN telling them I would no longer use their site because of all the spam.

IGN isn't relevant anymore.

Movemodo review: Racket Sports / Racquet Sports (PS3 / Move)

Quoting Movemodo's James Newton:

"With other Move titles making strides in gaming control, Racket Sports feels like a dinosaur; the motion-sensing is unreliable and could have been more accurately and enjoyably served by a button press, a disaster for any new motion control title. Racket Sports is precisely the kind of title we don’t want to see on Move. Save your money for the promising-looking Virtua Tennis 4."
