Move Price Points Explained

PSN@Home Writes: "Alright so there is a lot of confusion over the Move Price and people arguing its too expensive and others arguing that they love the price point. I’ll compare the base playing experience to the preferred gaming experience for Move, and Wii to show the comparison of the price and the difference that ensues."

The PS-Eye with the Move alone is useless. Just put the price out there for the full set and be done with it. You need the PS-eye, 2 Moves, and a Navigator to play the launch games. It is that simple. It will cost you about $150 to $180 depending on how you buy the package. I am sure if people want it, they will find the money for it. Those who can't afford it should just wait for a price drop.

ChozenWoan5798d ago

We know the PSMove is $50 USD, but how much is the PSNavigator?

I haven't seen a price for it yet. Hopefully it's $20-$30 since it has less hardware.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5798d ago

$30 the Navigator (Sub Controller).

ChozenWoan5798d ago

perfet.

wow, I lost a bub today...
Cool, I only use three at the most anyway.

Seferoth755798d ago

Or buy a Wii for 20 more and get everything Move offers... Sorry but for the kind of money I'd be the original not the copy.

sikbeta5798d ago

Yeah, get a wii and loads of Shovelware... nah Thanks, I prefer Move which is Impressive How Precise the Thing is and loads of First Party Hardcore & Casual Exclusive Games pushing the Boundaries like no other Console this Gen + the PS3 ports of wii games that worth a purchase, DS2 + Extraction is Waiting for me...

BISHOP-BRASIL5798d ago

@Seferoth

And as a bonus you don't have to buy a classic controller, because you won't be using it anyway, you will be stucked with motion controls, don't matter how crappy they are.

Nintendo not only offer a much different product, but they big idea of making Wiimote support a requirement for everygame has crapped on their console, great way to get locked out of major multiplatform franchise that actually aren't designed around motion control and aren't shovelware.

DarkTower8055798d ago

Look, I own a Wii so I'm not going to bash it much, but watching the new Zelda demo @ E3 was embarrassing, and highlights the unresponsiveness of the controls. This is exactly why most gamers don't take the Wii serious. Add to that the sub-HD graphics, lack of voiceovers in games, and massive shovelware, and you can see that Nintendo left the door open for a company like Sony to come in and do motion controls the way it should have been done in the first place.

So you can stick with the "original", but I'll soon be placing my Wii on Ebay. I'll have enough money to buy the Move, extra controllers and a game. Can't wait.

I wish there was a pack with 2 wands, a Playstation Eye, a Navigation Controller and the game.

They want people to use 2 wands to play some of the games and a Navigation controller for others so wouldn't a big pack of everything be a good idea.

Shadow Flare5798d ago

yeah im curious about that. Some games need 2 wands. Though i reckon most games will require just one. I'm planning to get 2 wands, 1 sub controller and that gun. Gameswise alot of hardcore games support move anyway but i wanna get Ape Escape

f7897905798d ago

WHAT?!?! Now I have to get Move. Darnit!

Why isn't it in the ps1 classics yet?

jamesdpseuphoria5798d ago

Yeah I agree with ya there, I was just mentioning something about that not too long ago, but I'm not sure how using one of the Playstation Moves works with like lets say the archery game or the gladiator one. It almost seems like you are forced to get a second one but again not sure at all.

jack_burt0n5798d ago

it does work and well with one controller, but yes those 2 games benefit the best from 2.

Briefcase Joe5798d ago (Edited 5798d ago )

If you watch the the demo someone posted from a Dutch? site late week, you would see you can play the archery and gladiator game with one or 2 Move controllers.

Qui-Gon Jim5798d ago

At least the games at launch will probably have options for one controller or two controllers. eg. The archery game can probably be done by using one controller as a pointer, but the two controller set-up looks like more fun.

jamesdpseuphoria5798d ago

Oh well that's all good news then, I just was curious about the bundle and how it would play out but yeah it's no big deal because later on, anyone interested will probably eventually be getting a second Move to go along with the console just like anyone does the same for the Wii.

@Lucreto

yeah they should have done a double pack inc the eye for $99 and a demo.

edit:
honestly tho the technology is so well done this device will sell itself, they learnt alot from eyetoy.

Shadow Flare5798d ago

if you think about it though, people who have a wii always have more then 1 wiimote because its meant to be played WITH people. Most people i think are gonna buy more then 1 wand anyway just for having people round. So when it gets to the archery levels where its 1 person at a time, just borrow 2 wands. But yeah it looks like you'll need 2 wands if you wanna play some games. Sort of like how some wii games require you to use the nun chuck

nycredude5798d ago

They probably will have a pack like that in the future. I am going to get the two wands and a controller. I already have the eye.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle3d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg8d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree8d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai8d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde9d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy10d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
