PixelPerfectGaming: PSN+ Wrong Move by Sony?

Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gamers have been debating the online aspect of their favorite game consoles for some time now. Xbox 360 gamers have argued that since XBL is a pay service, the overall content offers better demos and exclusives. Playstation 3 gamers argued that free is better.

Lol @ retards treating this like it isn't optional.

Pennywise5814d ago

Sony hate is out in full force as expected.

STGuy10405814d ago

You can certainly tell! lol

Cloudberry5813d ago

I'm really glad that PSN still offers FREE online gaming.

callahan095813d ago

It really is. People complaining about 3D, complaining about Move's relevance & price, complaining about certain games that we already know are in development not being talked about enough at E3 (as if the tons of games they did talk about aren't enough), complaining about PS+, complaining about something as silly as the character redesign of Cole in inFamous2, sites keep on conveniently leaving Killzone, LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo off their Game of the Show lists, despite that they're all extremely impressive games (and all of them support both Move and 3D)... I don't even know. Why is there so much complaining and criticism of Sony lately? I don't think I've ever been more excited for the upcoming experience of being a PS3 owner.

negative5813d ago

hahahahahahahahahahaha

Keep posting 'sony hate' in each thread. Meanwhile you and your fellow fanboys are in 'full force' 24 hours a day. Too bad you can only find fellow mates here at N4G.

Sure PSN still offers free service... but, again, you get what you pay for.

PLAYstar5813d ago (Edited 5813d ago )

The service just started for god-sake give it time, let Sony add more stuff they always do! Just like HOME, from sh!t space of nothing, became what it is today. A social network space use widely around the globe!

Reibooi5813d ago

There is no way someone can say the Plus option is a wrong or bad move. EVERYTHING you had before this is STILL free. You now have a option to get a crap load of extras for a very low price compared to what you are getting.

For those who download alot of games from PSN and Minis and PSone games this is a no brainer as you get discounts and free games you might have otherwise paid for. It's really a good move in my opinion.

It's sure as hell better then MS making people pay for getting services that are FREE to anyone who has a PC like Facebook.

Yeah this isn't XBL, playing online is free and PSN is un-effected by the OPTIONAL ADDITION OF FEATURES.

CryWolf5813d ago

Are you serious there going to disabling some of are service features from PSN this is a BIG DEAL A VERY BIG DEAL, PSN online is suppose to free thats why a lot of people jump onboard with PS3 in the first place.

If Sony would have start it this at the beginning of PS3 life-cycle then their wouldn't be problem but they didn't Sony wanted free service option, they should have wait it for there next console to do this PSN+ option cause at lease we would know what were getting are selfs into.

FACTUAL evidence5813d ago

Ok it's optional ooooh boy!! That's not the point smart guy...The fact of the matter is, some people like ME actually want to better our gaming experiences on the PS3. There was no features even mentioned. It's a total let down, and this was the ONLY thing I was looking forward to from Sony at E3 since they wanted to release every thing to the public early...

I know you don't have to pay for this service, but I just want to better my time on the PSN with features us gamers have been asking for for the longest.

STGuy10405814d ago

Sadly, none of us will think its lame when you will have to pay $49 to access DLC that otherwise should have been available on the free PSN.

saf1007925813d ago

I really doubt sony is stupid enough to make certain dlc exclusive to psn+ subscribers. What i think they meant by that is the subscribers won't have to pay to download while the normal psn users will. Wouldn't make sense to make it exclusive they won't make as much money

nikkisixx25813d ago

Who cares if they went in the wrong direction? If you don't like it don't buy it.

DA_SHREDDER5813d ago

Trust me, if it doesn't have cross game chat I aint buying a god damn thing.

Can anyone verify if thats true? There is so much stuff out there to weed through, I don't know which to believe.

jonboi245813d ago (Edited 5813d ago )

as far as i know some DLC maybe timed exclusives, subscribers will get it earlier that non-subscribers. other than that no idea PS+ exclusive DLC.

Edit: checked out the PS+ website

http://us.playstation.com/p...

and no mention of PS+ only DLC, just says you get early access to stuff

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8520d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele20d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk19d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay19d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit19d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg19d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10119d ago (Edited 19d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14920d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle33d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit33d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog33d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog33d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad33d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_33d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage33d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda33d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
