3DS Will Last Two Years... Maybe

Everyone is excited about the possibilities offered in Nintendo's new 3DS handheld, but the big N's history and fast-moving technology suggest the next big thing in handhelds may quickly become outdated.

fatstarr5822d ago (Edited 5822d ago )

There is no money in the psp the piracy rate is at least triple.
If anything Nintendo won. Piracy will be low for this once they crack the code and start making emulators and cartridges at least 1 year in for that. And then how can you replicate the 3D. they can easily lock games in a blurry mode if its duplicated. Nintendo can do so much with this system.

"Not through the gyroscope, not through the analog, and not on hype alone. Turn the dial on the right side to turn down the 3D illusion, and what do you have with the 3DS that’s new? Not much."

this guy knows nothing -_-. 2 years b4 it gets an upgrade.
the 3ds isnt novelty because you can turn off the 3d and you have a friggn gamecube powerd console in your dam hands.

BubblesDAVERAGE5822d ago

if u play a psp game then play a Ds game its a different experience ..

GWAVE5822d ago

This article is hilarious. It's basically saying: "ignore the 3D, ignore the gyroscope, ignore the new analog, ignore the improved graphics, and ignore the improved sound and this is just a DS!"

sombrero5822d ago (Edited 5822d ago )

Yeah, the graphics seem much better even without 3d. Not sure what he was expecting.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35822d ago

Yeah, that person sounds rather bitter. Its sad really...

dgroundwater5822d ago

"The PSP2...won’t have Mario titles, but it will have that added depth perception, likely intensified."

This right here sums it up. She thinks great games won't save Nintendo from the better graphics of competitors. Haven't we heard this song and dance like 5 years ago?

Independent_Charles5822d ago

everyone i know with a psp has got pirate games for it.

despair5822d ago

you do realise that the ds piracy was the same if not more than the psp and depending on the tech used the 3DS could be the same.

Sano645822d ago

From the article
"Someday down the road, just like with consoles, Nintendo is going to get their asses handed to them by the PSP, and or maybe some other new competitor in the handheld market."

People really need to stop aproving this crap.

dawnallama5822d ago

I own a DS Lite and DSi. Never had a PSP, nor do I have much interest in buying one. I just think Nintendo's lazy about leveling their tech with Sony's. :)

jonboi245822d ago (Edited 5822d ago )

dude nearly anything can be cracked it just takes time. if this gets cracked than you know for sure pirates will be all over it like "Olivia Munn in a Laura Croft outfit". chances are we will see firmware updates like the psp and still that only slows down hackers. and chances are 2 to 3 years will see a 3DS lite.

smash-brother-105822d ago

people like this probably said the same thing about the DS, yet thats been out for what, 6 years? and that has done pretty well to me, and still doing fine too. Nintendo has dominated the handheld market since the original gameboy, that aint going to change any time soon, they no exactly what there doing when it comes to handhelds

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that I just don't agree with this article whatsoever.

wiggles5822d ago

3D might be popular...and I am sure the companies who are producing products like this will have to eat some money....

But overall how can you not see that the world is going for 3D media?

This brings us one step closer to being fully immersed in video games.

"Here's an 'edgy' title for my article....please give me hits!"

deadreckoning6665822d ago (Edited 5822d ago )

I wouldn't call it edgy..just brutally honest. I'm not even considering buying a 3DS until the inevitable 3DS Lite, 3DS XL, and 3DSi pop up.

I think right now..Nintendos forcing Sony to implement 3D in their future handhelds. The current PSP will no doubt get slaughtered by the 3DS.

Let me guess your going to get a PSP2 right... but are you going to get the PSP2,PSP2 2000 model,3000 model or PSP2 go?

Godmars2905822d ago

In six months, if not sooner, they'll be model DS announced.

the psp will last 2 more months....maybe

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo Suing U.S. Government Over Tariffs

Well dayum lol. Old agent orange pissing off every industry and nation.

The fact that you have ANY disagrees will forever baffle me. And to the (apparent) MAGA contingent that exists on this website, enjoy your 8-9 dollar gas.

AuraAbjure78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

Yes, they had better be pissed after Trump told them the way they rip off the USA is over.

EveryPlatformGamer79d ago

LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.

-Foxtrot79d ago

That’s what I was thinking, imagine them winning hypothetically, getting a s**t load of money back which they would have lost if they hadn’t raised their prices and it’s business as normal.

It would just mean people paid more for no reason since they got the money back anyway.

Outside_ofthe_Box78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

A lot of companies partially passed the cost to consumers instead of all of it. They would still have to at least pay that back to gamers, but we know that won't happen. What's also sad is that prices won't come back down after the initial hike caused by tariffs.

People didn't understand the full repercussions of tariffs. That alone should have cost him the presidency if people knew it was a permanent price hike for consumers

Inverno79d ago

The people should sue these companies for having to over pay cause of these tariffs.

Eonjay79d ago

Naw they should sue the government for forcing the tax to begin with. No one reasonably expects these companies to absorb the taxes. Many smaller companies tried and were shut down or faced to increase prices to try to maintain their business. The tariffs effect everyone.

Inverno77d ago

I meant it mostly as a joke cause we all know the costs of these tariffs were passed onto the consumer. But it's seems no matter how vocal we are here in the states our "representatives" don't seem to care enough to represent us. And things are about to get worse.

Killer2020UK77d ago

The companies were doing what the law required then to do, the tariffs however were illegally implemented. Usually it's criminals we punish, you seem to have different ideas 🤷‍♂️
