although i agree hate breeds hate it is not correct that hate is holding the human race back. do you think you are surfing the net right now downloading porn because people from a couple different countries wanted a better way to be friends? hell no, the internet was built as a tool to facilitate hate (originally). ie if i can get info from one site to another more quickly i can blow your ass up faster. major leaps in technology which have advanced the human were intended for use in hate and then adapted for peaceful uses.

America is the world superpower. Unfortunately, hatred and envy (same thing IMO) just go with the role. A century ago it was the British. We introduced democracy, established modern economic practice and brought international trade and prosperity to many countries, and they still hate us for it.

Take Zimbabwe for example. Under British rule, Zimbabwe prospered and was widely heralded as the 'bread basket' of Africa, and a model for other countries in the region to aspire to. What happened? They kicked us out and now their people are starving and dying of common disease. And guess who's fault that is, ours of course.

The haters need to ask themselves who they would rather have as the world's dominant power, because it's only a matter of time until America is overtaken by China, both economically and militarily. Now that's a prospect I find worrying.

If not for the great American dramas and sci-fi programmes i'd barely watch tv these days. All we seem to make are crappy reality tv programmes.

You can't deny that America uses it economic might to gain influence, and in some cases, an unfair advantage in trade. For example, a few years back, your government was worried about cheap steel imports from China harming your own steel industry who were unable to compete with the Chinese on a level playing field. Consequently they imposed levies on Chinese steel imports in an attempt to protect American steel producing companies. This was illegal under World Trade Organization law, but who was prepared to challenge America over the issue, nobody. If the UK were to impose levies on American imports, your government would slap embargoes and sanctions on us in retaliation.

Don't take this the wrong way though, I like American people and American culture. We all just have to respect the natural world order. America is definitely the top of the food chain and i'm fine with that. Rather you guys than the Chinese or Russians.

But China will surpass the US militarily, it's only a matter of time. In terms of man power they already have, and over the next few decades, they'll catch up technologically as well. I watched a program about China's economic boom only last week and the analysts predict that China will be the worlds leading economy within 3 to 5 years at the present rate. Remember, the US may well invest 10 times more than the Chinese in their armed forces, but you probably pay your soldiers ten times more. Also your weapons of war are bought from hugely profitable aerospace companies that charge millions for a single guided missile. The Chinese on the other hand are still communist at heart, able to produce their tools of destruction for a tiny fraction of the cost at government owned facilities.

More and more companies are shifting production out to China to take advantage of cheap labour, and as time goes on the situation will only get worse as more companies are forced to follow suit in order to remain competitive on the common market. And the worse thing about it is, the Chinese are gaining access to western technology at the same time.

10 years from now, I predict China won't merely be copying and reproducing western technology, but instead, just as Japan did, they'll start to take the lead in certain areas. Nuclear fusion is a prime example of a cutting edge technology in which the Chinese already lead the way.

No offense but your argument about the US having enough nukes to destroy the world 10 times over is pretty naive. A nuclear war would benefit nobody, especially the US who have the nukes of China, North Korea and Russia aimed at them.

But regardless, I truly believe that envy and ignorance are the overriding factors in most of the flak that your nation receives. As a Brit, I for one am proud to consider our great America cousins as friends. And cliched as it sounds, we have no better friend.

I read your response and it was very well spoken. But about the USA having anuff nuclear power to blow up the world 10 times it's true. I watched it on the history channel, and I think the russians can blow up the whole world twice I think. Anyways a nuclear war would benefit nobody. And it is true every day on the news here in the USA their are reports of Chinas exports being bad from dog food too human food. And about some putting cardboard in meats it is true I seen it on the news not that long ago. They even showed them doing it.
And alot of reporters are being arrested (last I heard around 12) we expect a major Chinese cover up
(wouldn't want the world to stop buying their food). If this stuff hits the fan bad it will hurt China eco. So we will see how China's hand plays out in the future.

As far as your steel comment goes I never knew, Japan pretty much killed out steel industry decades ago for being cheaper. Heck I live in Pittsburgh do you know my hometown nick name.
Its the "Steel City" alot of our country steel was made here a very long time ago (a big source during WW2). But now their is like 1 or 2 factories even left. Hell our football team
(Pittsburgh Steelers) defense has nick name too its the "Steel Curtain" its kinda of funny when you think about it. I talk with some of the old timers from time to time they go I dont care what anyone says are steel is still stronger then theirs. But b/c of cheap people they all lost their jobs. Even my grand father.

But I fear if what you say does come true the world may well see darker days. We know the Chinese have human rights problems.
But the USA will remain strong and with our friends in the U.K.
(I've always said I think the U.K. is are one true ally) after all we are cousins.
I think we will all be fine.

P.S. I forgot another thing about us paying our soldiers more which is true but, they also have alot larger army to pay. And alot more people to feed. Lastly China's biggest trade partner is the USA. So alot of their money comes from us. And last I heard our (USA) biggest trade partner was Vietnam believe it or not who would of guessed that.
So it wouldnt be in China's best interest to make us a enemy.
But I do know nothing is certain in this world.
