GameSpot: Sorcery Impressions

GameSpot writes: "PlayStation Move is set to be one of the big stories of this year's E3, so it was no surprise to see the new controller the focus of Sony's press conference. One of the first games demoed on stage was Sorcery, where you'll play as a young wizard who must stop a great evil, using the Move controller as your wand".

I think this game looks awesome. Totally getting a move and sorcery... and socom 4... and killzone 3... and maybe even tiger woods golf... :P

sinncross5825d ago

Nice demo... sony's brief Move showing was so much better then MS's lengthy Kinect showing.

WhittO5825d ago

And Move was being played Live, not a bunch of people pretending...how stupid does MS think people are lol.

nveenio5825d ago

This game is actually what sold me on Move. I was on the fence at first, knowing that the tech had potential. But seeing it in action like that was awesome. Soooo much more impressive than the Socom demonstration, and sooo much more impressive than the totally casual games. This game has the potential to inspire even greater use of Move tech, and that's cool.

Shani5825d ago

yup.. all the moves titles are great, but this one is really awesome..
Definitely getting this game "Sorcery"

Imperator5825d ago

Thanks to this, I will definitely be purchasing a PS Move.

Loved this game. Liked it better than twisted metal.

nveenio5825d ago

I've never understood why Twisted Metal is popular. I played Black on PS2, and was so unimpressed, I quickly got rid of it. But vehicle combat never interested me, even from its early days on PC.

Bzone245825d ago

Same here. Must be one of those games that you either love or hate. Friend of mine loves Twisted Metal, I really couldn't get into it.

Prcko5825d ago

well Sony you convinced me to buy Move,it's AWESOME!!!

jemarval5825d ago

did you notice some serious lag with tiger woods move presentation??

I did dude, hope they fix this

colonel1795825d ago

It could have been the game, not the controller. There was absolutely no lag on Sorcery, so why would it have on Tiger Wood´s game?

Booyah5825d ago (Edited 5825d ago )

well i only saw the first shot that dude took missed if i remember
still think its the game tho that lags :3

thereapersson5825d ago

I mean, the shooting was precise enough, but the fact that Woods didn't start swinging his club till the presenter was a quarter of the way through his swing is troubling. I hope that's just an issue with early-deveopment, and not indicative of the final product.

dktxx25825d ago

The lag (most likely) came from the screen he was playing on having to be sent to the bigger screen, not with the game itself.

nveenio5825d ago

Yes, I did. The lag was awful. Thankfully, though, it was the only Move demo where lag was noticeable.

boodybandit5825d ago (Edited 5825d ago )

not have been but just the way the game was designed / patch for move. Tiger Woods using a hit 3 meter kind of similar to what Madden uses for kick offs, punts and field goal attempts. You press a button once to start the meter. Press a button again at the height for strength or power and once at the end for accuracy.

Maybe that is why it was reacting after the guy completed his motion. Remember this game an existing game that is being patch and wasn't built for Move from the ground up so it they might be trying to implement it into it's existing engine. The reason I think this is what is going on is because I didn't really notice any lag in any other demonstration.

Maybe the next Tiger Woods will more than likely eliminate this delay. Remember Jack and the rest of the people on stage said that most games that support move and 3D will be made for dual shock 3 and regular displays as well. It will be like having two games on one disc and that is why they feel BluRay is important for these advancements.

I'm not saying what I think is factual but to me it would make sense why there was minimal to no visible lag on other games displayed using Move.

N4g_null5825d ago (Edited 5825d ago )

I was wondering if any one would see this. There is no lag in the wii game though.

It is possible that they are sending too much to the PS3 when you almost only need two gyro for this game. It's odd to see people make excuses for it and not for kinect and motion+ on the wii.

It seems they are using the cam to track the control which could lead to lag due to motion blurring. The camera is not rated for a fast f stop or motion blurring.

I really wanted to see if EA was going to try a NFL game on it but seeing tiger have the problems it's having makes me wonder if it's possible.

Be way to use move is the gyros with some sampling of the cam.

It will be out soon and people can try it them selves. I was hoping more people would show more stuff for it though.

Did you guys notice the guy never missed in the sorcery game also?

I hope sony puts some real games behind this thing. It almost seems like they are going to let it die on the market since the kinect is such a fail.

jerethdagryphon5825d ago

the swing lag seems like it was out of the field of view from the camera so it didnt start animating tiger tell it was back within bounds but yea should be fixed i hope

rekinect5821d ago

there was lag in sorcery as well. it's noticeable but not as much to hinder the game play... so far.
