After yesterday's decidedly underwhelming Microsoft conference it was the turn of Nintendo to try and woo the gaming world at E3 2010.

Sony hasn't finished... considering 90% of Microsoft show happend in the last 5 minutes... maybe it's best to wait.

Biggest5821d ago (Edited 5821d ago )

Are they not watching the Sony conference right now? Sony would need 200 hours to explain everything they are showing. I can't count with my hair folicles the amount of games they've shown so far. And there is still 30 minutes to go.

Edit: Okay. I just realized something. Sony is awesome. There is no need to argue with anyone about it. Their conference was just amazing.

qface645820d ago

i just watched the sony conference and yes i do say nintendo won e3

sony had 2 hours and they only revealed 2 new games
twisted metal and heroes on the move

i was really shocked to see gabe with portal there but that is it though

Hideo_Kojima5820d ago

Yes but I would still rather have the games Sony showed over the things Nintendo showed.

3DS is definatly on my wish list.

Along with the Sorcery game :P I actually liked that.

Cevapi885820d ago

why dont you name some new Nintendo games since sequels to you arent new games?? LOL

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35821d ago

If Sony doesn't show anything else, then yeah, Nintendo "won", lol.

Cold 20005821d ago

I wont believe it if Nintendo wins this E3...

WLPowell5820d ago

Nintendo showed off a bunch of sidescrollers and hyperboled the crap out of what the 3DS can do. overall they showed of like 10 games Sony showed way more.

thereapersson5821d ago

GABE NEWELL JUST WALKED ON THE SONY STAGE

thereapersson5821d ago

I'm watching the conference on IGN. He announced Portal 2 on PS3, and full steam integration.

GWAVE5821d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

Both Nintendo and Sony did a fantastic job. Nintendo showed new Zelda, 3DS, and a bunch of 3DS games. Sony showed off GT5, infamous 2, Twisted Metal, and Portal 2 ("best console version" according to Gabe).

But we can all agree that Microsoft lost big time.

Edit @ below

I'm not trying to ignore Golden Sun. I simply gave an overview of what Nintendo showed.

Seferoth755820d ago

Just ignore Golden eye, Kirby, DKC, Ikarus, Golden Sun.

mrv3215820d ago

Why didn't you remember everything, GWAVE your such a PS3 supporter.

Notice how he named stuff on the PS3 side from the last 20 minutes... maybe there's been a lot of stuff and it's hard to remember.

cryymoar5820d ago

Seriously,
Sony just ripped Microsoft and Nintendo a new one.
get over it.

CDbiggen5820d ago

Microsoft totally, Nintendo not really.

karl5820d ago

SONY just won E3 for me...
so many games.. and that move magic game look great..
G5 has a date and portal 2 on ps3 was expected..

KB was funny as always and i just cant say anything bad about it..

except the fact that there were some games missing like R3 or VS13 but great conference anyway =)

cryymoar5820d ago (Edited 5820d ago )

@CDbiggen

yes really.

Sony is pushing everything for everyone.
3D for the techies.
Move for the casuals AND core.
and GAMES GAMES GAMES for every one.
and PSN+ for those who want to have everything, not just the most basic online features.

AAACE55820d ago

I've been debating about it for a while. At first I wanted to say MS had the best show. Then Nintendo came with good games and a new system. but in the end, I would have to say Sony won! They brought the games with them and they brought alot of them. Good show overall for all companies.

One funny thing though, did you hear all of the people cheer when they said the MOVE would cost $50... and then everyone got immediately silent when they said the other part would cost $30!

The good thing about the price is that it doesn't give either company a significant advantage. The price is similar to that of the Wii. And even if Kinect does cost $150, it would be on par with buying 2 sets of MOVE or Wiimotes.

ico925820d ago

Yes Nintendo did win IMHO the best E3's went like this

1. Nintendo

2.Sony

3.EA

4. Microsoft

XxZxX5820d ago

Nintendo only beat Micrsoft, Sony??? HELL NO...

gamerzBEreal175820d ago

My friends nintendo just won E3 ....wow sony didnt really dissapoint but psn plus wasn't that exsiting there was not that many anouncements if sony had waited to give us LBP2 motorstorm3 infamous2 killzone3 there E3 would be epic but it was just good due to the amount of excluseive content they are getting portal2 kevin butler showed up sorsury looked great the tiger woods looked great twisted metal anounced and GT5 reless date it was a great E3 but nintendos was just unstopible

ruiner44825820d ago

Fat f*ck Gabe Newell announcing the definitive version of Portal 2 on PS3, reminded me of FFXIII coming to xbox. Even more so cause fat boy hated the PS3 with a passion.

my god! this article again?

OSU_Gamer5821d ago

so far yes, but its not over

Omega45821d ago

Looking that way, with Sony last

Pennywise5821d ago

Last? You must be 5 yrs old or a fat woman.

N4g_null5820d ago

Sony talked about their marketing, boring...
Then they had a paid fanboy tell jokes boring and lame.
Showed a waggle motion games and failed to play any more games on stage hardly.

Sony shot their load too early and the twisted metal was a big meh.
I was the guy leaving the floor after twisted metal.

I mean seriously they just talked a bunch of crap and show us stuff we already knew about that didn't impress any one expect PS3 owners.

Also what is with all the forced clapping at a sony show? They boot up a movie cheers, They walk on stage cheers, they keep saying it only does every thing cheers. It's like a frigging frat party or some thing.

The tiger woods demo sucked because of LAG! MS and SONY really did disappoint, and they have no idea what people want but lucky they have their fan bases that will try to support them just so the other does not win.

I guess i'm just over the whole wow factor that HD graphics is suppose to bring.

I think this conference will separate the gamers from the fanboys.
IMO sony just pulled a sega. So this is their future, talking junk and hiring actors.

I was hoping for a little more. Yet I'm glad some people liked their show though.

The news about each game may be better.

niceguywii605821d ago (Edited 5821d ago )

Agreed.

Unless Sony pulls something major fast it goes like this:

#1 Nintendo
#2 Microsoft
#3 Sony

Update: Sony tried to pull off a megaton with Gabe showing portal 2, Meh

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35821d ago

Nah...

#1 Nintendo
#2 Sony/Microsoft or Microsoft/Sony

That looks rather familiar doesn't it, lol.

mrv3215821d ago

Did you get a free 360 slim then... if not then Microsoft did nothing for you. Atleast with Sony they are showing new games.

Hallmark Moment5821d ago

Must of missed them, are you talking about Move games?

SOAD5821d ago

Relax man. You're arguing with the fanboys here, and what do you expect? For them to reply back with, "Oh, you're right, I was mistaken"?

k jules5821d ago

Sony 2nd, Microsoft 3rd. But I think it's a let down that now Sony follows Microsoft in aqcuiring exclusive content for multiplats. Shame on you Sony! (And ofcourse MS)

Myze5820d ago

The acquisition of exclusive content was never a problem, it was the fact that MS paid a LOT of money for it. If Sony is not paying for the extra content, or at least not paying much, I see no problem with it.

Anorexorcist5821d ago (Edited 5821d ago )

There is clearly now only two groups of fanboys: Sony Fanboys and Anti-Sony Fanboys.

The biggest professional Sony Fanboy Gabe Newell just came on stage to speak for Sony to announce Portal 2 (the definitive version, in his own words). Suck on that haters!

N4g_null5820d ago

It's clearly not hate man. Sony is missing out on certain gamers and the disperate support they get from the faithfful makes sure that these games are not heard. So SONY ends up catering to people who already have a PS3 rather than people who find their current line up boring because it looks like a bunch of PC-ish games with out the PC perks.

The showing was suppose to prove sony was serious about motion controls and they just show us a few new games. Had sony went 1st may things would have been better but hardly any thing new was shown and hardly any thing most gamers wanted was shown.

It was pretty boring and to see the 3ds up close and play it just totally crushes any thing SONY has shown.

I mean really is this what we are in for in the future. I mean after these games what is next? MS and SONY are reminding me of sega a lot right now.

I'm only posting this so you know why some people thought their conference sucked, I hoped you loved it though. It was only for a hand full of people it seemed.

Microsoft Gaming Revenue Drops 7% Year-on-Year, Content and Services Down 5%, Xbox Hardware Down 33%

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio23d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing23d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit23d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing23d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Xbox boss: Memory crisis could impact next-gen hardware pricing

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.

Eonjay25d ago

When does this end? Its killing everyone. Consoles and PC. And for what? AI? The benefits of AI are completely outweighed by the negatives. And the government should have never allowed one company to buy up all the RAM.

Lexreborn225d ago

This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.

This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.

I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet

Fishy Fingers25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

I mean.... what?

We're at a point that Samsung wont even provide their own phone department ram because they can sell it at higher prices to 3rd parties (AI). Its more profitable to sell the ram than make their own devices with it.

You think because R&D starts 5 years ago the 3rd party component manufacturers will honour that price? They'll sell it to whomever is paying the most today, not some gentlemens agreement they made years ago. AI farms will buy more volume at higher prices than any console manufacturer will. It'll be the same for Playstation.

Lexreborn225d ago

Contractual agreements are not the same as “gentlemen” agreements. If you think that they work with their distributors a month before production then their entire business model is trash. They work with companies like nvidia constantly for building the graphics cards they need. They work with companies that build motherboards years in advance. This is what proper business planning does.

They are not buying components on a whim like a consumer. So again, considering the ram isn’t a singular module and is integrated into the motherboard I highly doubt they wouldn’t have a final schematic that they are supposed to be building around.

If they are delaying production another 3 years then it’s obvious again this is an after though project and is just trying to be responsive to their bad execution they had the last 14 years.

It also isn’t far fetched to use their failure to produce first party titles the last 7 years including the highly anticipated games I mentioned all being cancelled. That they would continue to you know… lie

Sitdown25d ago

You don't really know how this works huh?

Profchaos25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

Helix is going to be stupidly expensive

Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential

I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought

That's going to be ps6 vs Helix

Eonjay25d ago

Yeah with FSR 5 they should be able to offer a much cheaper version of Helix.

Eonjay25d ago

While this does seem to be the case, I am encouraged by the statement from Microsoft about wanting to provide affordable options. If this means a Series S style Helix, at least there will be something affordable being offered.

XBManiac24d ago

Series S is what has killed Xbox Series so... Will they dare?

blacktiger25d ago

It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs

pwnmaster300025d ago

Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

DarXyde25d ago

Another important lesson from this generation: while Nintendo showed us that prices don't necessarily need to ever drop, we've now learned that waiting 1-3 years does carry some risk that prices increase. This generation is just bizarre in all the wrong ways.

LucasRuinedChildhood25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

The factors are largely external. Covid and Russia-Ukraine war causing inflation led to the first price increase in 2022.

Then we get Trump's tariffs increasing hardware prices, AI boom causing a RAM crisis, war on Iran causing a worldwide fuel crisis which impacts the cost of everything.

Gaming doesn't exist in a vacuum. The last few years have been a shitshow and lot of it was definitely avoidable.

DarXyde25d ago

LucasRuinedChildhood,

For sure. No disagreement on the external factors doing a lot of this. Where I have to gently push back however is on two fronts:

1. The pandemic definitely caused some issues: asynchronous development was a big issue and really complicated timelines and affected game quality. At the same time, when it comes to price hikes, it's really difficult to know what was genuine necessity and what was taking consumers for a ride. The pandemic brought about "stag-flation" which was increasing prices and stagnant wages, which was a problem caused by supply chain constraints. There was also "Greed-flation", where companies that were slightly affected or had no issues took advantage of the situation and squeezed everyone citing supply chain issues when there were none.

2. It's definitely true that the tariffs, AI boom, and RAM crisis were all things enabled by tech broligarchs throwing money at this caricature of a world leader, one of them being Satya Nadella. I don't think Sony and Nintendo have contributed much to this problem if at all, but Microsoft's Nadella I feel was instrumental in causing every one of those issues. Microsoft as a company contributed to both candidates (though they gave Harris 4x as much if I recall), but Nadella was all in on letting AI run wild. He paid for unregulated AI, and got a war that's not a war (even though Trump called it that at least five times on television) that screwed up helium access. So for me, I feel that one of the players in the gaming industry is a key architect of these issues, and for that reason I struggle a bit to think of it as "external".

A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.

Reaper22_24d ago

Why would they pull out? They have the momentum. Sony has been getting nothing but bad news lately.
