I knew this would get pushed off to 08. Pass Ubi success have overshadowed their own games! (Prince Of Persia and Splinter Cell) Now with the upcoming Assassin Creed, they will have more time focusing the press on one title instead of two. And the blokes at Ubimontreal werent really done with the game anyway.
Too much of a good thing might become a bad thing.

TriggerHappy6875d ago

I think this is smart. They have so many games coming out this year, it would be smart to have some games release sometime next year.

Haze and Assassins Creed are all due out this year

razer6875d ago

We only need one more PS3 fanboy to approve this story... Time is running out..

EZCheez6875d ago

That you are a pretty negative person.

As far as the delay goes, I just want to say I feel your pain.

The General6875d ago (Edited 6875d ago )

If it came down to this or Metal Gear Solid 4, i think we'd all choose MGS4. So they're being smart and pushing it back after the MGS4 release. It better watch out for other great games coming out in the 4 fiscal quarter of 2008.

Well for gamers like me who have all three consoles, I am faced with decisions like the one i stated. Power of Green, you stop being a troll. At least i have the 360 which justifies why i can come in the 360 section. You don't have a ps3, wii, and i'm not even sure if you have a 360 but you're on every PS3 article bashing every good news to death.

Metal Gear Solid 4 for the win, i'll get this game if the gameplay compares.

Dr Pepper6875d ago

I'd choose Splinter Cell over MGS any day. I have many reasons for this (that I don't feel like typing unless people want me to) but that is my opinion. Also, both are exclusive for seperate consoles so one-console-only owners wouldn't have to choose between one or the other.

power of Green 6875d ago

Metal Gear Solid series isn't a traditional Xbox type game; how MGS4 would effect a game that sells on the xbox(SC) when its a PS3 game is beyond me.

Somnus6875d ago

Whats MGS4 got to do with this? Conviction is exclusive to 360 and so is MGS4 to ps3, so sales wouldnt really be that different, would they?

VirusE6875d ago

General you don’t own all 3 you are a Sony troll through and through. You can’t keep anything on topic no matter how hard you try. Any post you make ends up talking about your love for ps3. You are not fooling anyone troll.

I am glad they delayed it; there is already too much stuff to play this year! Lair, crysis, prime 3, bioshock (pc version), halo 3, mass effect and heavenly sword are more than enough and those games are just the tip of the ice burg.

Xeoset6874d ago

Easy. I'd choose Splinter Cell 5

A woman with a magnet and a funny heart.
A ninja.
Count Dracula.
A guy who can take over peoples bodies.
A girl who loves canines.
...then throw in some big robots.

What the hell is all that about?! That's not a game, that's just something an acidic addict cooked up on a high.

I'm joking. But I'd still take Splinter Cell over it anyday.

really this is gonna be good.lol
EDIT: honestly that was a pretty good opinion as far as realism goes. i agree with u on some points. but u said mgs4 u cant move with ur gun. in the demo he was moving with it. i know not in the old ones but this one he was. the trash can barrow, i cant dissagree with u there. the AI, IM GONNA HAVE 2 DISSAGREE. MGS, U CAN CHANGE THE DIFFICULTY, IN THE REMAKE OF PART 3, U COULD COULD MAKE IT WHERE IF U GOT SPOTTED THE GAME WAS OVER. THE AI WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY HARD ON THE HIGHEST DIFFICULTY, THE STORY IS VERY COMPLEX AND MAKES YOU THINK. YEA I GUESS IF U WANT 2 SAY U LIKE COMPLETE REALISM, U CAN CUZ THATS OPINION BUT MGS U CAN PLAY IN A FIRST PERSON VIEW THE WHOLE GAME OR OVER THE SHOULDER OR REGULAR. IVE NEVER SEEN THAT DONE B4 IN ANY GAME. THE DIVERSITY OF THE PLACES, I UNDERSTAND UR POINT SOMEWHAT BUT MGS HAS SOME PRETTY DIVERSIVE PLACES. ALSO I LIKE HOW U CAN FIGHT IN A REAL WARZONE WITH OTHER PEOPLE FIGHTING. AND THAT ROBOT, I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD EASILY BE MADE IN REAL LIFE.

SO OVERALL IMO, BETTER STORY,BETTER GAMEPLAY,BETTER GRAPHICS AND JUST A VERY CAPTIVATING GAME THAT PLAYS WITH UR EMOTIONS. BUT U KNOW WHAT, I RESPECT U BCUZ U DIDNT START SWEARING AND GOIN BALLISTIC AND U MOST OF ALL, U EXPLAINED URSELF.

Dr Pepper6875d ago (Edited 6875d ago )

1) I really enjoy realism. In MGS, you can't move while using your weapon. That is very unrealistic and annoys me greatly.

2) More on realism: There are no bosses in the SC series (by that, I mean harder to kill than others) which is very realistic as well, since you wouldn't come across that in real life (WTF!? why did ten shots to the head not kill this guy!?).

3) The SC series has always used light and shadow possibilities to their greatest potential.

4) The SC series takes players to the most varying climates and locations of any game I've seen. Whether it be a tropical jungle, news broadcasting studio, high-speed train in the French countryside, Japanese bath house, war-torn streets of South Korea, an arctic base near Russia, etc., the developers are always giving new challenges to the players.

5) The weapons and gadgets used in the SC series are either real or in development in real life, further immersing the player in the realism of the game (MGS4: wtf is up with that camera on one wheel that whips people?).

6) Videos of MGS4 haven't impressed me with their enemy AI. They don't move when a barrel is rolling at them from down the street, or notice that some guy in poorly done camo is crawling right in front of them shooting their fellow soldiers etc.

7) There are no huge cut scenes in SC (MGS has ridiculously long videos). I prefer to play the game, not watch it. That is what movies are for.

Those are some reasons why I prefer the SC series. Also, the devs aren't afraid of change and innovation (DA and conviction) giving new gameplay and challenges to the players. MGS4 will be a good game, but I don't want some gigantic mooing cow machines that are part robot part monster in my stealth-action game, thank you very much.

That is my opinion.

Edit: If your going to disagree with me, tell me why. Tell me why MGS is better.

etownone6875d ago

does that answer your question hotshot?

VirusE6875d ago

Pepper i like mgs better (childhood fav so i have the nostalgia bias) but i agree with all of the points you made. If you want realism and true stealth action with a story based in reality get SC if you want a classic feeling game with big over the top nintendo style boss battles that are completely out of place and unrealistic go mgs. I will be getting both.

FirstknighT6875d ago (Edited 6875d ago )

...while MGS is fun to some, it does follow the typical arcade formula; cgi scenes, boss battles, silly characters, etc... Splinter Cell brings the realism that these type of games should have. Splinter Cell beats out MGS in my eyes anyday.

kewlkat0076875d ago

the MGS series in a while, even though I'am looking forward to the PS3 one for when I do get a PS3.

For hard-cores that love the series and have played SC and are able to notice some of the differences, I welcome your comment. I have played SC on the Original Xbox and did like it.

However with this pushed till 2008, like I have mentioned, plenty of games this Holiday season. While some may say thats one less game for 2007, well just add it to 2008. Realistically, all the games, I would like to buy on the 360 this Holiday season, I don't think, I'll have time to play them all before 2008, or even buy every one. That's just me. I don't play games 24/7 for months, hey I have a life too ya know. As well as bills to pay.

This game was not on my radar, but it's all good.
Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo3, Army of Two, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey are the games I'm really waiting for.

Dr Pepper6875d ago (Edited 6875d ago )

@ VirusE

Your post really sums up how they are different styles of games. They are hard to compare, but when someone like "The General" blatantly says everyone would choose MGS4 over SC (for no reason at all), I feel compelled to defend the SC series (as it is my favorite videogame series).

But I can see how one could like the MGS games. They are both very different styles representing the stealth-action genre.

@ hotshot1237

There is another game that lets you choose between first and third-person perspectives (that is also a stealth game) and that is Thief 3 (which was an awesome game that didn't sell to well).

Greysturm6875d ago

1) If you played any mgs after the ps1 starter you can move and gun even run and gun something that you cant do in splinter since last time i checked your speed got reduced when you were aiming and overpenalized the aiming if you ask me. The speed they allowed you to move wouldnt have made your shots so unacurate.

2) I agree with these point however splinter has its dosis of unrealism too being that you heal all injuries with first aid kits and you can actually take several shots unlike most tom clancy games. And as a gaming dynamic i prefer challenging boss fights to just pulling a grab on an enemy as a climax point.

3)There have been several flaws with the light and shadow system. Examples Goggles, Pda, several points of absolute darkness still get you spotted by enemies without flashlights and or thermals.

4) And what does this differ from mgs everty single title changes the ambience and gives you new battlefield possibilities, i understand the on same disk issue however Mgs although keeping a majority setting in each game they dont make it feel so hallway when going through jungles or empty spaces something that SC does.

5) Future ambience for mgs4 they took the liberty of putting new weapons and gadgets. All other mgs games are based on their respective timelines with few racional exceptions. Besides all weapons and gadgets have a briefing explaining what they are and their use in military operations. like the origins of the m4, the ak47 the ak74 u all real world weapons. The only departing gadgets are mainly the metal gears and active camo for the first three installments, several current day gadgets for mgs3 which where dubbed as soviet prototypes. And gameplay mecanic enhancers such as the soliton radar or the codec. (on this note is there really a gascam in development with full heat night and electronic vision on it?)

6) And splinter cell does? when they dont react to a device on the wall that looks suspiciously like a camera unless it makes a noise?. At least in mgs they do room clearing and call for backup without mencioning using grenades and other weapons besides their main. Superior in some but behind in other if you ask me.

7) That is your preference however several people like their gameplay experience to be complemented with greatly done cinematic parts that complement the story and make you feel more involved.

Finally to the they dont feel afraid of pushing the limits has more to do with the negative feedback of the first two sequels feeling more like an expancion pack than a sequel. Kojima on the other part pushes the evelope storywise even when it alienates some of its gamers he always produces a quality and severly different product from the ones before every time pushing the system to its limits and introduces new game dynamics.

Dr Pepper6875d ago

@ Greysturm

Hey, thanks for responding with your opinion and argument. Out of 6 disagrees, only 2 people have given me their reasons (I think if you disagree, a reason should be given).

Now, to your statement(s); You bring up good counter-points in your post. I agree that the SC AI can be questionable at times, but they have improved it over the course of the series (they now notice cameras on the wall without the noise etc) but nothing is perfect. As for moving with your gun, I wasn't aware that you were able to in MGS2. Of course, It's been a while, so I could be mistaken. In Splinter Cell you can only walk and it does penalize your aim for doing so (I agree with your comment on to much of a penalty), but I rarely use the gun anyways so...
And yes, I'm nearly positive his goggles are based off of currently developing devices (they discuss it in the special features of SC DA, but claim it would cost around $25,000 to get goggles with all three features).

A lot of this discussion is opinion based so it would be kind of hard to come to a clear consensus. Both do have strong points, but I find myself preferring Splinter Cell.

Finally ninja gaiden 2 is BC, I've been waiting on this since they announced BC.

Bane352590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

Yeah i thought ninja gaiden was gonna get remaster because it wasnt announced for backwards compatible til just now tho i would've been up for joy if they announced max payne 3 for backwards compatible today instead

hiawa232590d ago

I am so wanting MP3 on BC and X1X enhanced

Bane352590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

@hiawa23 i think R* has plans to remaster MP3 at this point

Z5012590d ago

You couldn't play your copy of NG2 before this announcement?

Bane352590d ago (Edited 2590d ago )

No it just became backwards compatible today

Movefasta19932590d ago

not everybody still has their 360, that's why

Z5012590d ago

Kept your game, but no console to play it on?
No one sells 360's anymore?

bluebenjamin2590d ago

Ninja Gaiden 2 is the main game I wanted bcthen alone one x enchanced is this game is more fun than bloodborne

Gwiz2590d ago

No contest, souls games are overhyped for difficulty.

bluebenjamin2590d ago

Very overhyped just because of difficulty not because of fun

2590d ago
Movefasta19932590d ago

facts, once you beat a souls game and do ng plus, you have the game downloaded. Once you return to ng1 and 2 you still can get your ass handed to you lol, the regular enemies are a threat, still attacking even when they are on the ground dismembered.

Gaming4Life19812590d ago

Agreed dark souls, bloodborne, and sekiro are overhyped games and dont compare to ninja gaiden 1 & , ninja gaiden 3 sucks.

Z5012590d ago

What does BB have to do with NG2?
Why not insert Contra Shattered Soldier while you're at it.

bluebenjamin2590d ago

Ninja gaiden was once considered one of the hardest games ninja gaiden 2 has rpg elements so does bloodborn they have similar combat but ninja gaiden 2 just looks better doing it plus its fast pace and flashy combos removing limbs of foes remember 360 put more enemies on screen than ps3 on this game 360 had more dismemberment of limbs than the ps3 vs.360 had a better gpu but ps3 still to this day has an awesome cpu the ps3 had the prettiest ninja gaiden because of native 720 p while 360 pushed 640p now the one X has both higher rez and 360 style dismemberment But Ok for you contra ps2 version and nes

2590d ago
2590d ago
Movefasta19932590d ago

I do think ninja gaiden 1 and 2 are better than souls games, but they aren't even comparable

Z5012590d ago

Again. Why'd you pick BB?
Ninja Gaiden has ninja dog mode = easy
NG2 has a jump and block button
BB has none of those.

You could've picked a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta game. They're more similar to NG2 than BB.

What does PS3 have to do with this announcement? Your insecurities are showing.

Gaming4Life19812590d ago

I think they are being compared because of difficulty but I dont even think that is comparable imo. Ninja gaiden games are better though that's just facts.

Hungryalpaca2590d ago

And Forza is Better than MARIO Kart!!!!!

See how stupid that sounds?

bluebenjamin2590d ago

No Mario Kart is the best racer ever almost anyone can play

Amazing news! NG2!?!? Three Splinter Cell games!!! Fable 2&3 (the first is already enhanced)!!! This is what separates Microsoft's version of BC from others...its that they enhance both the performance and visual quality of these titles to keep them current in a lot of cases, instead of playing them exactly how they played and performed back in the day. Whats even better...I don't need to do ANYTHING but download the new patch...amazing.👏

Keep it coming Xbox!

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2018 any good?

Neil writes: "Every single month we hear the same old thing about the Xbox Games With Gold titles. "We don't want that rubbish - we want decent games, we want AAA blockbusters, we want something different". Well, the free Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles being given away during the month of July pretty much tick those boxes. What's the chances there will still be complaints?"

Tom clancy and virtua fighter are great death sqaured is pretty cool idk about assualt

lxeasy2880d ago

Splinter cell conviction is great, vf 5 is fun. Haven't played the other two so I'm excited to try them out.

ApexWolf222880d ago

Great month for 360 titles, X1 titles remind me of early days when all they gave away were indies, I hope they dont start doing that again.

AG1002880d ago

at least you can play the 360 games on xb1 too lol

Goldby2879d ago

Now that there's gamepass, expect bugger AAA to have priority in that, more money for both the dev and Ms more likely

yomfweeee2880d ago

I though Plus was lackluster this month. Gold is way worse.

BQ322880d ago

Vf5 fs is the best fighting game of all time abd backwards compatible, so it is a huge win in my book.

annoyedgamer2880d ago

No these are pretty awful. Virtua Fighter is great and so is Splinter Cell but those are 360 titles.

lxeasy2880d ago

so what if there 360 titles it's still awesome
