IGN: E3 2010: Yakuza 4 Preview

IGN: It's heading West, it's violent as all hell, and the hostess clubs aren't getting cut. Hallelujah.

Cloudberry5825d ago (Edited 5825d ago )

I freaking love Yakuza series so much. : )

Anyone who considered / willing to go to E3 2010 could also play Yakuza 4 according to Destructoid.

While I'm not lived in US, those who have the chance, could ask SEGA or Toshihiro Nagoshi (the creator & producer of Yakuza / Ryu Ga Gotoku series) about the game.

Especially if the game would still 100% full / not, despite confirmation of the Hostess club......... : /

---------
EDIT :

I've read the Preview.

"Yakuza 4 won't have to deal with the same outrage; the Japanese history game is still out, but the hostess clubs are going to be in the game. "

...........................

1 year time for localization, and SEGA couldn't even translate Answer X Answer mini-game......... : (

So much for 100% full game in English again.........

Bravo45825d ago

The Answer X Answer mini-game isn't that much important, and pretty much no one can answer the questions. I'm just glad this game is coming out here and with the hostess clubs.

Cloudberry5825d ago

I just want to try it in English version.........

+

This concerns me for other "potential contents cut" again.........

Mahjong? (I understand it a little, thanks to Yakuza 2, don't mind if it's cut)

Shogi? (Don't understand it. Wont mind if it's cut)

Massage mini-game? (A hilarious mini-game + side missions = great deal amount of experience points. Don't want to be cut...)

Hostess management? (Supposedly, I wanted to try this in Yakuza 3, unfortunately it's cut. ALSO DON'T WANT THIS TO BE CUT)

20+ side missions? (DON'T WANT TO BE CUT SEGA)

Etc???

Bravo45825d ago

According to Aaoron Webber of SEGA, on the PlatStation Blog:

"Based on fan feedback, we’ve made a lot of changes this time around – and for the better. Hostess clubs, which I mentioned above, are returning, and in the future we’ll be able to talk in even more detail about the ways we’re making Yakuza 4 a much more authentic step into Japan."

akiraburn5825d ago

I don't mind the Answer X Answer mini game being cut, but the others I really do want left in. I definitely want Mahjong and Shogi to make it, as well as the rest of the side-missions and mini games. I understand that there are a few things like the trivia that just wouldn't work out, but people buying into the series generally understand that it's a game focused in Japan and people want to get into the culture of it.

Noctis Aftermath5824d ago

I just hope sega don't cut anything else, the Answer X Answer mini-game isn't a problem with me, but if that is a sign that they plan to cut more content that they deem unsuited for the western audience then i'm afraid i will have to skip this entry too.

ThanatosDMC5824d ago

I hope they make the games more dynamic like in RDR's Blackjack game. It's fast and you feel like you're actually on the table and not being screwed.

I really hope they do better with the translations and not to cut out more than 50% of the minigames.

I already own all these digital+physical. So good to see more people will get to enjoy them.

Wonder why Fist of North Star isnt being added

italiangamer1397d ago

Because it's not a Yakuza game, simple as that.

CrimsonWing691397d ago

Yep, licensing fees and whatnot.

RpgSama1397d ago

So excited about the next Yakuza Like a Dragon I enjoyed that game much more than I thought K would have, went and got the platinum and everything.

IMissJimRyan1397d ago

Yeah. I played them on GamePass, but it's good to others play those games.

Mobis-New-Nest1397d ago

I'm still wondering why Horizon Forbidden West Delux Edition hasn't been added yet. Still hopeful it might get added in September 2022. Come Sony, do the smart business move and add all your first party games Day 1 on PlayStation Plus Premium.

mkis0071397d ago (Edited 1397d ago )

How is that smart? you just admitted to want to spend $18 for one month whenever a game comes out rather than $70 per game? Their sales are perfectly fine so low sales isn't a valid reason. Relying on subscription numbers is a losing game. You can't guarantee enough people will sub. 20 million subs doesn't beat 10 million copies sold at $30. (my average of the cost of a game over 3 years) For one game you make 300 million vs for the sub plan at 20 million paying 10 dollars a month (200 million) you have to pay out to all those developers before you can even count your money.

No chance it comes to plus plus this year. It will come when sales die down.

SeTTriP1397d ago

This is a dumb idea for a franchise thats almost certain to hit 10mil lifetime.they would lose 10's if not a hundred million dollars.

Two years from now when the horizons, ghost and gow's do come to the service xbox might be in trouble.they have nothing to compete with this line even years down the line.

Its called strategy.

SeTTriP1397d ago

I just brought judgement the game is great don't know how I missed it so now I'm planning on buying all the yakuza games so this is great for me.

It's early days but this new service is looking better and better. The full Yakuza series! And with the monthly games this month too. Fantastic month

Muigi1397d ago

Never played any of them, good excuse now to try these out.

SegaSaturn6691397d ago

That was the only Yakuza game I was missing. Might be the best month of all time for me.
