No where NEAR a masterpiece

I've rented it, and I'm not going to say I finished it, because I didn't

But the game was boring, kind of buggy and terrible voice acting

Not to mention the massive plot holes, and weak plot to begin with, and with a game like Heavy Rain, the plot has to be amazing and solid, which it isn't.

Wow. The game got great reviews and sold much better than expected considering the unusual kind of game it is. The fact that so much time has passed and yet someone is still trying to convince us it's not that great speaks volumes. Get over it.

Both games are great! I have noticed that almost all of the people who put down Alan Wake have not acutally played the game. Same goes for Heavy Rain though. Both are great and I hope people ignore the fanboys and try both of them.

only games with guns and dudes in space can be a masterpiece in 360 fans eyes...

its a game, but the reason why it's under such scrutiny is because the ps3 is held at a higher standard than other consoles because its so powerful. the lag and mediocre graphics in gears of war 2 would make the 6pm news if it happened in a ps3 exclusive but because gears of war 2 is on an inferior console then its totally ok and xbox apologists make a million excuses. gta 4 is rubbish and infamous proved that with a weaker budget and dev support that multiplatform games are gimped in favour of getting all platform edition to be like the xboxes.

...i mean whats the point. Heavy rain may not of been a masterpiece for everybody but it was for many. Totally different from the norm, something fresh...Instead of hating maybe Bitmod should ask or write articles towards their preferred console maker to release some 'not quite' masterpieces on their platform....

A masterpiece is what i call Mario Galaxy 2 for example cause of its real inovation and creativity.

I only now had a chance to play it and yes it has a few minor flaws and yes it is a masterpiece. So many scenes made me frantic, made my heart race. Watching that guy do the things he did to save his son made me wince in pain. I actually got choked up in some of the more emotional scenes. I would love not only to see this type of emotional,engaging game again but in some other genre as well. Can you imagine this type of drama,detail and pathos in a SIMS like game where your actions have real and complex consequences on the characters or an gritty action game with maturity and real emotions instead of the usual juvenile,unappealing characters and story of most action or shooter genres. I hope that everyone ignores the haters and continue to evolve this type of emotional realism.

Ed Wood considered "Plan 9 from Outer Space" his masterpiece, and while it is a fun campy movie, it was nowhere near anything I would call quality.

But it was still HIS masterpiece, and he treated it as such. Just like in the sense that this is David Cage's masterpiece, it's the best thing he's put out there and it turned out great.

Whether or not it's a masterpiece is in the hands of the controller-wielder. I found it to be an excellent game, and will definitely play through it again.

Can someone tell me where the french actors were in Heavy Rain? In some of the bonus features you can clearly tell that most of them are English, and if you look most of the cast up you'll see that they're also English, sure there are a few French actors in there, but I thought the voice-acting was great in this game.

Can someone please explain what makes video games great? As far I know gamers like to experience something new. In a market that has always lacked a lot of variety I'm surprised at what I'm hearing this generation.

These mass market gamers are beginning to make me sick. The foundation of their rating systems and opinions toward gaming baffle me. The game industry AND gamers have always embraced creativity and uniqueness. I remember when reviewers would give a higher score because the developer took some risks to make something new.

Now it seems to me that this generation is about popularity and profits. What I mean is they define a game as great if it's popular, not because of the game itself. If sales are high then no one dares bash it. Why? Too many people bought it and it's a mass market title.

A masterpiece to me is a video game that shows heart and effort and a passion by the creator. I know the difference between a game that had effort put into it and games that were good only because it's a trend.

What happens when you're scared of Sony and what it has to offer? You bash the games that's on the PS3!

Alan Wake fanboys should be actually playing Alan Wake instead of writing flamebait articles for hits.

I suppose I shouldn't be, but I'm a little surprised how many people think I actually didn't like the game, or I'm some kind of "hater." I actually liked it alot, I just realize that it wasn't a perfect gaming experience. Hey, I liked it enough to play through it 3 times, and see all the endings, that's gotta count for something.

As always there is that one person will hate no matter how great a game is. Well for the people think it was not a great unique game...which they do not even call it a game more like an interactive game. Here is what I say I would like them to create a better game. I LOVED HEAVY RAIN!!!

I loved Heavy Rain! Heavy Rain is not a masterpiece, but neither is Allan Wake.
