Its funny people think rpgs are getting old.....but shooters are worse......

Given the current climate of "make every new game for consoles", it comes as no surprise they chose to make the game an FPS and not a Turn Based Strategy (TBS). There are a few genres that don't work well on a console, one of them is TBS and thus X-Com had to be changed to a different genre that would work. It's sad really.

I feel that riding the shirtails of a great game in the past (one of the best tbs games of all time)and turning it into a fps is a shame .Stooping that low and selling a game that that was never meant to be in a FPS and selling it to make money off the Xcom series is sad.... they are basing it somewhat off several things xcom was famous for but I don't know I will reserve final judgement on the finished game reviews and all but I will never remember Xcom like this regardless

Couldn't they have at least had heavy elements of strategy? Look at Valkyria Chronicles; it's a strategy JRPG, but it lets you control your character in 3rd person while your enemies counterattack, giving a unique feel to the gameplay. XCom could similarly try to do things a bit differently. Maybe they could mix action with strategy? If XCom is just a pure FPS, count me ut. I loved the original games, but this reimagining as a FPS doesn't appeal to me. Don't any gamers like to use their brains anymore? It seems like games are becoming too easy and dumbed down.

FPS sell more because they are easy. (and fun sometimes)

There was this exact same reaction when they announced that Fallout 3 would be an FPS and look how that turned out, nobody considers that change a mistake. I think this'll end up being similar: fans of the original will be upset at first but then the game will end up being excellent and it won't matter.

XCom has a lot of potential and I think first person will suit it well. The graphics look good, the story, weapons and enemies look unique and if the combat is done well it could be a real contender.

I really hope NBA 2k11 is there. Usually they don't make an appearance at E3. Should be interesting. And Mafia 2 is a must to see.

Can't wait to see what NBA 2K11 has in store.

I luckily, for me, I have a physical copy of Spec Ops: The Line. I used to be a very adamant collector and physical only buyer. However, due game discs missing essential data and own usage of subscription services, I have largely halted collecting games.
