First Itagaki moving forward his new game reveal and now this ...?

After all that bloody hype. Good thing I didn't get sucked in. Valve make great games - there's no doubt about that - but they can be proper wankers in their PR.

Let's see...

There was Portal 2 in 2010, then it was delayed.
There was a Portal-related surprise, but not HL3 or EP3.
There was an E3 press event, which has now been cancelled.

Maybe Valve's 'surprise' is that they're going to get off their asses and do some work, rather than giving the fans false hope, only to retract their announcements days after they've made them. Valve is really becoming a joke, even if this isn't true.

Valve announces Portal 2 event.

June 1st- Valve announces cancellation of Portal 2 event.(and Suprise E3)
June 7th- Valve rumor Half Life 2 Episode 3
June 8th- Valve rumor Half Life 3 and new engine
June 9th- Valve announces Portal 2 delayed into 2011.
June 11th- Valve E3 press conference has been canceled
June 15th - ????

Valve dont need to rush ANYTHING. With all the revenue they get from steam, theres no pressure to show certain games at E3 this year. They have the opportunity to really polish their games and make sure there ready. Or would some of you rather their games were rushed out of the gate just for the sake of a press conference?

And 3 days before E3 they just throw all that to the trash?

As a die hard PC gamer say what you want about Valve and Gabe Newell and I really don't care that they are not going to E3. As I view E3 as an event for Consoles anyway.

Valve "is the number one gaming studio"!!

Valve is taking their sweet time as usual and that is fine by me. Valve is a PC gaming company first so consolers just be lucky you got a EA port of Half Life 2.

The PC gaming hardware is changing and PC developers are overwhelmed with the advancement of PC hardware and they are years behind. So chill out because when they catch up... Half Life 3 will be the greatest game ever just like Half Life and Half Life 2.

So just enjoy Half Life 2 Episode 3 when ever it's released as it will be perfect then wait for Valve to totally change the gaming industry again with HL3 and Counter Strike 2 as you can't rush perfection.

Ep. 3's just not gonna happen is it? :(

What's happening is Valve's mod community is finally wising up and has stopped giving them original ideas to steal. So now Valve has to fend for themselves in the idea department and it turns out that they can't.

Valve: Remember when E3 was coming up and we said "No Conference" and you were like
"Nooooooooo waaaaaaaaay!" And then we were all "We pretended we were going to cancel on you?" That was great!

They probably realized they had exactly the same old stuff to show. They arent a revolutionary company, they stick to what they do well and milk it to death.

Is this for reals? Bummer. Ah well, we already know about Portal 2, the only other thing it could have been is Half Life Episode 3, Half Life 3, or a new Engine, not a huge loss, but still a bit of a bummer.

Valve is bigger than E3?.....you people don't understand....you all laugh now but if E3 ever becomes self aware, it will envelop Valve, Activision, EA, everyone you have ever loved will be gone, and then, there will ONLY be E3, he will be the end all, be all Duke of New York A-1. So go ahead and have your little fun, but when E3 is drilling your mom and you look on helplessly because you know there is nothing you can do to slay the beast, you will have wished you had never laughed.

The shame of clearly not staying on top of the million and one rumours going around made them feel like they had nothing to show us that wouldn't come across as extremely disappointing?

they are still stuck in last gen, they just cant let it go. and again i cant understand for the life of me on why we have 0 info on the 3rd episode. i thought the point of episodic content was to have it out a lot sooner then full blown new games yet episode 3 seems to be going the duke rout...

I've already given up on Valve and Half Life. There's only so many years I can wait for something to happen before it gets boring (Left 4 Dead 2 anyone? Hahahahahaha). Sure, Steam is great and I've no doubt they work really hard on selling other people's games, but the lack of Half Life Anything for far too long now is a let down. Sort of like a musician on top of his game, constantly teasing us with the next installment of his rock opera, inexplicably ditching his art to go off and work for Itunes. Sort of. Anyway: Kerching.

I'm speechless. Except to say, why is it that so many PC developers don't give a crap about their fan base until they release a game. Just look at how long it has taken Starcraft 2 to come out. Or even Episode 3. It's messed up. And we all put up with it.

Valve is a company that don`t want to show their ugly faces to the public. They bring forth stupid comments after stupid comments on the internet.

The fight from religious groups and any other crazies out there against this type of thing is definitely hold it back the same way its held technology back since the spoon. I wish VR was not a motion sickness machine for me I really hope that more games come out with both VR and regular controls because there are now multiple games that are VR only I really want to play. With sword art onlines crazy popularity you can bet a big studio is already working on something like this.
