Remember last year with all the leaks Sony had and they still had a excellent conference.

They announced the likes of LBP2 to get people excited and give the game a time to shine before the media storm of E3. There will be dozens of games announced and some things disappear under the load.

Now we know about the game it will get us excited to see some gameplay.

...I bet they’re just showing us these 4 AMAZING games in advance, so they can show us even more unexpected amazing games during their conference. I can’t F*^&ING WAIT!

IMO, announcing Killzone 3 before E3 was idiotic. Unless they have a bigger shooter which i doubt.

Sony knows what they're doing. It's possible they have some big announcements saved for E3. Twisted Metal? Uncharted 3? A new Kingdom Hearts? Who knows. We will soon find out.

Sony obviously know what they're doing, they've announced these titles because they want the focus on them going into E3, and it's working.

They will have a lot of annoucements (they wouldn't of announced all these games otherwise) and they have a limited amount of time on stage.

Hell, Agent or The Last Guardian is not a spoil..they've introduced those IP's last E3...

All m saying is..I know Sony has some hidden cards...do u guys realize how many great relationships Sony has made with many developers throughout the years of PS & PS2?

We're going to see old Franchises return...we're going to see new IP's, we're going to see Move..
We're going to get a Premium Service...Home will be further advanced...a PSPGO price drop even...

Just something to help hype of their E3 showing and most of the games we still haven't seen any gameplay vids.
Plus all the games that have been announced have all been sequels we were expecting to see. I'm sure they still have a few other surprises.

everyone knew these games were coming anyways, so it's not really spoiling anything. also, if sony still has stuff to unveil, like, good stuff... holy crap.

They always do well plus all this news the past couple weeks have brought a lot of HYPE!

Even though these four titles were already announced the crowd is still gonna go nuts at the smallest mention of them. Because they've already been exposed and everyone knows what to expect. There isn't any smoke and mirrors b.s. going on. I really wish I was gonna be there, its going to be un-f*cking-believable!!!

I guess they will concentrate on Move this E3. They also have a few games the haven't spoil for us.

All they've spoiled are 2011 titles except LBP2. I think they are leaving the stuff that releases this year for E3 instead of showing off stuff we have to wait for next year to play.

I think Sony has come to realize that, no matter how cool the E3 conference is, people only take "one" cool thing away from it. You can't stuff it full of coolness, and expect people to remember it all.

Sony will only announce one (maybe two) cool things at E3. The rest of it is all momentum. At this point, I'd say that strategy is working quite well.

I'm hoping to see some stage time for PSN features and updates. I found it pretty interesting to see them show us the new PS Store back at E3 2008, especially when they announced the movie section would arrive that day!

I don't have a problem with Sony announcing prior to the E3 conference, the sequels to games we already knew were coming out. It helps build interest for when Sony actually shows us some game footage at E3, while announcing new games will just be added bonuses =).

well im sure they got more they do the same every year and always show the most at they event. plus they didnt show gameplay, its jus e3 its more events after this. like for god sakes its just games. wanna shock them and give them a e3 theyll never forget get strippers on that stage.

PS1 days and PS2 days they did it their way and look how successful the PS1 and PS2 were. Same with the PS3...i just leave them to it and they ALWAYS DELIVER!!! ;-P

E3 then anyone i,m sure they will freak us out with something that we don't know about yet or it could be that they are going to tell us what will be in the premium service they are going to use this year and every year after that the price what its features may hold when will the release of a few games that we don't know what the date is yet for agent others that maybe on the side for SONY to unearth at this years E3 but i,m sure its more talk about 3D blu-ray support 3D gaming updates for the 3D supported TV's that are coming much of this talk is for the premium service as well but most of all PSMOVE they could release it after E3 and want everyone in on the action and want everyone to know when its coming and what it could support we already know SOCOM EYEPET and others will be supporting the MOVE so my guess is 3D blu-ray disc 3D update 3.40 PSMOVE a few games PSP2 premium service and its price and when it could be released with all the features we've been asking for the last 3 or 4 years since it was launched back in 2006.

Damn, if Sony already announced four big games, then I can't even begin to imagine what they have in store for us at E3.8 Days, The Getaway 3, Twisted Metal PS3? :)

Sony had an excellent E3 last year. What were their PS3 surprises ?

Let's see -

1. ModNation Racers - cool
2. Agent - just a logo , lol
3. FFXIV - multiplatform and wtf reactions because it was "online" and FFXIII wasn't out yet

They has an awesome E3 because of their overall library - Uncharted 2 , God of War III , Heavy Rain , MAG , ModNation Racers , The Last Guardian , Ratchet and Clank , etc.

This year will be no different looking at what's announced and expected.

The games they are showing look like they keep PS3 at the top of the technical tree but they will NEED 4 or 5 big announcements(non Move related)to have a good E3.Anything less will look like they came early.All those games shown so far look very,very good though.
They need a couple of steals on top.I'd go Mass Effect 1 and 2 disc and L4D1 and 2 disc.It's getting to the point where all 360 games,bar about 3 major ones,come to PS3 eventually.

i believe they are saving some announcements for upcoming 2010 games for during E3, leaving the 2011 games to be announced before, to get people hyped but not to spoil any surprise.

What the poes is the difference between leaking it early or waiting for E3? Either way people know about their games

theyre clearin things for new stuff to b shown. i doubt they'd have a show wit jus sequels. they most likely want to highlight sumtin HUGE. and if theyre tryin to announce all these early jus for this huge game(s), the game(s) may b far enough in its development cycle to show off gameplay while WOWing us with its technical brilliance. they have at least one IP thats gonna rock the show n theyre preppin us for it.

Sony is always a let down for me at E3 they never show anything good. I doubt I'll even watch this year since they've already told us everything they got. E3 will be nothing but a showcase for Move thats it.

Eh, you gotta admit it would be really cool if Sony blew us away with all this... It would be like getting hit by an AK-47.

Well, once again, Sony's laid down a lot of cards with more details of the games shown next week, obviously including gameplay. Resistance 3 still hasn't been confirmed and I have a vague feeling that Naughty Dog may show their next project.

MS are keeping quiet and sometimes I wonder if that's better. Sure, more people will be tempted to go and see Sony's conference because of the list of things they'll see for sure and possibly a few bonuses. But all that it takes now, is for MS to strategically place one shocker and then, despite content, MS will get the glory of E3 media coverage and I'm going to say that the shocker probably won't have a thing to do with Natal.

Nintendo are going to pull something too. I'm sure of it.

Each game they're revealing is getting a lot of attention, and won't be buried under all the other announcements made at E3.

Those were the Elephants in the room, that were obviously getting sequels. So No, not really at all Motorstorm was a leak I believe.

I don't think Sony is rash or foolish enough to make such a move when they have an idea what the competition is doing.

They either have new things to show that they hope to counter the competition (new IP, new addon features, etc), or they done it intentionally to help blunt some of the competitions wow factor. Could be both.

This will be an interesting E3 no doubt.

Maybe they will actually have the crowd be able to view a 3D game?

all working on PS3 titles. we've only seen 6 of those titles. also, many studios are working on more than one IP (Santa Monica Studios have admitted that they are working on two titles. Insomniac is working on THREE, with only ONE being multi-platform, the other two are PS3 exclusive).

Sony certainly are spoiling their fanbase though. SO MANY awesome games to look forward to.

i don't NEED the announcements to be made at E3, as long as the announcements get MADE.

not even 3 months ago we were speculating about the existence of SOCOM 4, Little Big Planet 2, Killzone 3, inFAMOUS 2, Motorstorm 3, etc, and NOW we know for CERTAIN that those games exist.

that's infinitely more exciting to me than seeing Sony somehow "win" E3.

now, their E3 conference is going to be about showing off the MOVE, announcing a few new IPs (they ALWAYS announce at LEAST two or three new IPs at E3, not sequels; just look at Sony's past E3's and you'll see), and actually showing us real GAME PLAY of the sequels they've announced pre-E3. that's AWESOME.

i can't express enough how pleased i am with the revealed games so far. any new games announced, whether sequels or new IPs, are just icing on an already delicious cake.

there are still plenty of studios just WAITING to reveal their lineup. Sony has played E3 EXPERTLY this year. these are carefully orchestrated announcements, not leaks. the entire industry, for the past 3 months, have been covering these PlayStation 3 titles. we haven't heard SHIT from Microsoft, nor seen a single leak or official announcement of ANYTHING outside of Gears of War 3, and even then, nobody has said much else about the game (Game Informer had that cover story; i have the issue, but that's about it).

Sony has the industry so fired up and talking about THEIR E3, with each of the announced games getting a fair share of coverage, it's BRILLIANT marketing.

"hardcore" gamers can't complain if their E3 press conference is full of MOVE stuff, because Sony has fed them PLENTY of awesome "hardcore" games nearly every other week for 3 months straight.

because the gaming media were given some stories PRIOR to E3, they aren't digging any deeper trying to unearth "surprises" and "leaks."

hell, they've had SOCOM 4, LBP2, Killzone 3, inFAMOUS 2, and now Motorstorm: Apocalypse to cover. they don't have TIME to try and find out if Twisted Metal is going to be shown, or if the PSP2 is going to be announced.

Sony's REAL secrets of E3 are still carefully buried, a mere 4 days before the show. that's pretty good compared to last year, when, literally, the ONLY secret that hadn't been spilled for Sony was Agent being exclusive, and Final Fantasy XIV being exclusive.

as a PlayStation 3 fan, i can say this has been THE BEST run up to E3 i've EVER encountered. being inundated with so much awesome gaming info BEFORE the show just has me even more excited to see these games in MOTION.

Theyve showed us only a little of what they got in store for us. Its Sony, expect great things.

I think only after E3 can it be said that Sony spoiled their E3.

Now that Jim Ryan is gone just need to remove Herman Hulst from his position! And maybe give Shuhei the position he deserved.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
