By this time, E3 was firmly installed as the highlight of the games industry calendar and websites and magazines starting to issue awards for the best titles of the show. Look up the awards for E3 2002 and on most lists you’ll find Ratchet and Clank, Sly Raccoon (or Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, as it was known in the US), Kingdom Hearts and The Getaway.

Getaway could have been a blockbuster but ended up being a frame rate jank feat. Absolutely horrible

The Getaway had a good script, good location and an early yet janky cover system. All that potential was wasted unfortunately.

I sort if disagree with The Getaway. Playing it all those years ago, it had a dodgy control system, more so vehicles, was slow and was graphically unfinished. The sequel was even worse and the third game on PS3 was canned. I think Sony should take both games and merge them into one (as with the soon to be released Max Payne 1 and 2). Weird how Sony messed up The Getaway never to be seen again.
