Developers that are intelligent know that the PS3 is the true next generation system that has out of this world crisp 3D grafx, sharp sound which is built through highest standards of engineers. The developers that want quick money to pay their BMW's are the ones that cry because they don't want to spend quality time making a solid game which reflects their studio or company they say its too difficult to make a game for the PS3- sure because your lazy. Naughty Dog, Factor5 etc. actually want to show the public that they do have the intelligence and patience to create a work of art for the world to see.

Seeing the bad news lately about x360,something smells fishy about this one...

Its the 3rd straight year that they announce 360 the best hardware. (I also think that for both 2005 and 2006, they chose Xbox360 as the console of the year).

While I dont totally agree with GT on 360 as the best hardware of E3, I think that all 3 of PS3, Xbox360 and Wii are great and superb platforms and there is enough reason and evidence to choose each of them as the best (also PC but thats not exactly a console...). So, it only comes down to what aspects of each console appeal more to each person.

But after 3 years, I think giving a single console the awards every year is a bit unfair but acceptable. Cant wait for E3 2008 (A bit early...).

Developers that are serious about their profession and have passion in what they do and actually want to develop a game for the PS3 don't make excuses and cry "its too hard to work with the PS3" they begin to get updated into figuring out how and what they need to start creating - and aren't afraid to sweat it out and put in long hours because the end result reflects their professionalism and the consumers aren't stupid - we know a good game when we see it eg. Killzone2 and so with the PS3 selling the way it is those dev are going to make a killing and us consumers will not forget who made the game- we will look out for more games from that particular dev. who actually made a game worthy of $60.

I bought the PS3 because it has the games I want play plain and simple and the power to make, the best games I have seen. The entire video is comparing each platform's games library first and foremost, so why are they calling it the best hardware. That's kind of misleading (and no, the first statement of the video doesn't cut it). And I, personally, beleive that with all the 360 defects, it shouldn't even be called the best hardware.

Finally somthing to slow down the doom brigade; also proof that this site does not dictate the opinions of the masses.

They name 360 as the best hardware, and then at the very end the narrator states "...those who have working systems have a lot to look forward to." I wonder why 3rd party titles like Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII/Versus, Unreal Tournament, and Haze don't seem to matter though. Yeah, the 360 has a solid lineup of 3rd party games, but the majority those 3rd party games are also going to be available on the Playstation 3 when they come out; in fact, some of them have either more content or better graphics/gameplay on the PS3. Colin McCrae (Dirt) is a great example of how a game with sometimes shoddy controls and framerate issues can come out performing, looking, and handling better on Sony's platform. While this may have to do more with Sony sending out their top engineers to assist 3rd party developers worldwide, I'm actually glad that the company is putting in the effort to make sure multiplatform titles are superior on Playstation hardware. Microsoft needs to start doing the same if they expect to keep their lead.

Had Gametrailers taken a look at exclusives for this year, it's obvious that Playstation would have swept the floor with other platforms. It's not that the Wii or Xbox 360 have bad lineups; Sony's is just more impressive at the moment. Before E3, we could've sworn that Nintendo and Microsoft were going to kick Sony to the floor this year; the aftermath of their respective press conferences however paints a very outlook. Nintendo seems to be hitting the same issue that N64 and Gamecube had, which is limited 3rd party support and more of a focus on 1st party titles. Xbox 360's lineup is almost entirely composed of multiplatform titles, something that Peter Moore tried to put some spin on during the Microsoft Press Conference. Despite the numerous reports of Sony losing exclusives AND multiplatform titles, the truth seems to be that they have a huge selection of both 1st party exclusives, some great exclusive (or timed-exclusive) 3rd party titles, and a healthy number of multiplatform games that tend to perform and look better on their system.

Sony has the upper hand in terms of content and features right now. What they need to continue to work on is making the PSP compatible with the Playstation Network (i.e. being able to access it through any Wi-Fi connection in the world, which is something they're working on) as well as fixing some minor downsides of PSN -> unified chat system, realtime messaging during games, etc. The foundation is very solid, and users have shown a high level of satisfaction with games such as Resistance having 40 player matches...without a hint of lag.

TGS is still coming up though, and I suspect that since 3rd party developers had a late start on the Wii that their titles will make a big showing at the Japan Conference. They started at around December when the Wii became a sold-out phenomenon, so it's probably just too early in the development cycle to showcase their titles. The PS3 will have an even bigger lineup as well (Sony showcased a ton of new content just last week at Playstation Premiere). Microsoft probably held back at E3, expecting Sony to have a weak lineup, but that obviously wasn't the case. They're going to try their damnedest to make a turnaround at TGS, but the crazy thing is that Sony was also holding back...

Even though the 360 hardware has been getting nailed by the press and fanboys I think people who actually own the system know that it's a great console. Yes, there are failures that are now being worked out and I think will soon be a distant memory. If there is one thing this gen MS has messed up on that is the hardware manufacturing and Q&A testing of the system. But the design and performance are excellent and will soon shine once the heat issues are out of sight.

seriously, those are all heavy hitters, and tons of variety in genre to suit a wide range of tastes.

yes, next year is looking nice with Killzone 2, Infamous, and MGS4, but there is *PLENTY hitting the PS3 this fall also. and it's not just BS filler games. each of the games i listed above are looking rather top notch.

the 360 has a great lineup this fall, also, but it really just seems to cater only to 360 fans. shooters, flight sims, and Halo. everything else is multi-platform. even Mass Effect (which i can't wait to get my hands on, to be honest), is a shooter with an RPG focus and story (not that that's a bad thing, mind you).

to me, the PS3 has the most diverse lineup of 2007, even if the games aren't second generation (which is even more of a testament to the PS3's developers, as games like Ratchet and Uncharted are, technically, first generation PS3 games, as they hit before November, and the PS3's first year birthday, and they are looking amazing, easily on par with 2nd generation 360 titles).

i still don't think the PS3 is getting the credit it deserves. it's year one lineup is very solid gaming for it's userbase.

But is really that, as far as I see with the parameters that GT stated (only games to come count), PS3 is a better hardware now. You can put a "this year" (that they never had talked) but even that way, PS3 looks better to me... Halo 3- Mostly for the online (maybe i can get in a tourney and make some money)

Mass Effect- sorry to say it one if the few true next-gen titles for 360.

Ace Combat- ps2 game play with 360 graphics (online dogfighting should be cool)

Bio Shock- the other true next gen title for 360 should be good.

PS3:
Drake- looks good, story looks good

Heavenly Sword- Story look crazy, 100+ enemies with indi. A.I., good graphics

Warhawk- online should be crazy

UT3- looks amazing and online play should be sick. i heard they tried to gave it a good story this time around.

Ratchet and Clank- Looks like a pixar movie, havent played one before so unless i pick up a ps2 ver. i dont think im gonna jump on this till after some reviews.

Strangle Hold- i know its multi but im getting the ps3 ver. because of Hard Boiled BR.

All three consoles are putting out some good game but unless just dont like the genre of games coming out one the ps3 this award should be a lot closer.

They give XBOX 360 credit for all the multi platform games like GTA and Assassins creed. And they knock PS3 for only having Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 in 2008.

First of all the ps3 and xbox 360 launches weren't that different. They both launched with only one quality exclusive title each ( Call of Duty 2 and Resistance Fall of Man) [both fps's] and the rest were average games except for the two crap games ( Perfect Dark Zero and Mobil Suit Crossfire) then a couple of good games came out over the year before the ps3 came out like oblivion and gears of war......but when the ps3 came most of the good 360's that came out before the ps3 came over to the ps3 like F.E.A.R. and Oblivion came over to the ps3.....and now a full out pouring of games from both consoles while the only really worthwhile 360 exclusive is Halo 3.

Also with the recent ps3 price cut its only $100 more than the 360 or if u by the elite $20......but the 360 doesn't stop digging into your wallet after you buy the console.... you have to buy membership to xbox live per month and then they give you good games like lost planet, gears of war, and crackdown then they make a little more content like a couple of maps or a few new vehicles and they expect you to cash in another $10 per download.......which makes some of their games $70....and oblivion charges for knights of the nine and it comes free with the ps3 version of the console........

the ONLY reason that microsoft made the 360 elite was because their scared of sony.......the ps3 was equipped with a 60 gb hard drive..full 1080p and hdmi outputs.........and had multimedia to where you could copy music from your mp3 to your ps3 via usb cable........while the 360 you can only copy music over from cd's..........anyway the elite was equipped with a 120 gb hdd because their trying to show up sony as well as the hdmi port.....also the black color......they just wait till you buy up your console and all the accessories.......maybe a 20gb hdd at $100 to store all your downloads then they say you can have a hdd that holds 6x the storage for only $80 bucks more......how would that make you feel......plus 360 barely ever have software updates for the console to add new features like sony does all the time...also the ps3 failure rate was less than 1% much like the wii but the 360 has a 33% failure rate.....its like playing russian roulette with your console

the ps3 has incredible backwards compatiblily with the ability to transfer you ps2 game data to your ps3 with a library of over 8000 games unlike the xbox 360 having to update for backwards compatibility and no way to take your data to your 360

ps3 is trying something new and innovative like the wii.......bringing us new ways to play games and fun ways to interact online unlike the 360.......so say the ps3 is copying the wii (even thought motion sensitive controllers were mentioned before anything about the "revolution" was mentioned...and the ps3 came out first) at least their trying to bring us better experiences

the graphics are much better thanks to the cell processor running imapges at 1080p and 60 frames per second.....and the ps3 is more expensive because of the blu-ray player which allows the games TO HOLD MORE MEMORY CREATING BETTER GRAPHICS AND MORE DETAIL WITH A LARGER GAME MAP AND MORE ABILITIES because the blu-ray can hold 25 gb per disc on single layered discs

also dont rag on the playstation network because they just launched a few months ago and the 360 has had 1 1/2 years to get their xbox live in good shape on the 360........the 360 start up was exactly like the ps3 but unlike the ps3 the 360 had no other next gen consoles avalible to compare it too........people said that the ps3 is behind in console sales in its first months which couldnt have been said for the 360 cuz their was nothing else to compare it too.......the 360 only got a headstart on the ps3......and the wii is in the lead because its such a novelty but still worth getting for zelda, ssbb, and super mario galaxy

just because you got a few exclusives from us doesnt mean you automatically win the war because in my opinion sony took e3 with the most interesting and most trailers and news avalible.......while the wii had some good news info about release dates and the zapper.....while the 360 laid its whole backbone on the fact that they had halo3........not only that but noone else has it.........they have just become too dependant on the halo franchise to move consoles and even made halo 3 consoles to try and move more consoles.......when a console goes to gimmicks to sell more consoles it just becomes terrible focusing on hardware to stay ahead and not focusing on software........i mean anyother purchase worthy game coming out this year for the 360 is also coming to the ps3 except halo3 but ps3 has about 5 games worthy of buying exclusive to the ps3

How can they give the best hardware award to a console with appauling build quality which has resulted in the high failure rates that have been reported...

When people go out to buy Halo3 and stick it into their refurbished machine which by the should be called the The Vacuum Hoover Box they are going to be so dissapointed hence its going to be the same thing over and over, the gameplay is going to be the same as Halo2, you watch give it 3 days after release and hear people say "its alright, nothing I've never played before." Unlike Lair or Heavenly Sword or Drake Uncharted Island etc. these are all diverse interesting games. Coming September thru November the owners of the PS3 are going to have to buckle up because its going to be ride they will never forget.
