GrE's Release of the Week: Alpha Protocol

GrE writes, "While the past two weeks were packed with big named titles, this week is a little more on the sparse side. There are expansions for Tropico 3 and The Sims, as well as “off-brand” sports games Backbreaker and Pure Futbol. Of everything that hits store shelves after Memorial Day weekend, Alpha Protocol is easily the most advertised..."

I've heard great things about the story on this, but heard the gunplay is weak

bgrundman5805d ago

But RPGs are not all about the gunplay.

CrAppleton5805d ago

True! I think this one looks great, but I was thinking more along the lines of Mass Effect meats Splinter Cell.. not sure how that will work if the gunplay is off. But it looks great!

wondroushippo5805d ago

It's still got those elements in it, though, right?

Neco5125805d ago

That's lame, the story looks really good! Dialogue looks and sounds amazing. It might be worth a shot anyway

starven5805d ago

I'm looking forward to playing this one sometime soon!

Neco5125805d ago

Me too! I think I can deal with slightly shoddy gunfights. It's stealth anyway isn't it?

CrAppleton5805d ago

Stealth yeah, but can you kill someone you're looking at? Gun fights are still important.

This game isn't getting the best of reviews around the web.

darkroomdemons5805d ago

Kind of interested....but I'm too busy conquering New Austin.

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne666d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

ZeekQuattro666d ago

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

TheColbertinator666d ago

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend792d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long792d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons792d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor792d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52792d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602791d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor792d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.
