Alley Labs confirmed today that the iPhone hit Meteor Blitz will be getting an ‘HD’ makeover for the iPad.
Meteor Blitz is a twin-stick shooter with a suitably pumped up techno soundtrack and massive explosions – the two key ingredients for any space-based manic blaster.
The game feels a little like a cross between Super Stardust HD on the PS3 and Geometry Wars, with enemies dropping onto the playing area and a real-time global leaderboard tracker always on screen.

The Quality index highlights the Top 5 vertical space shmups for iPhone.
No place for the brilliant Espgaluda II on this highly competitive rundown.

Meteor Blitz has two modes with an arcade level based mode, as well as an endless survival mode. The arcade mode has six stages with five levels per stage increasing in challenge with the number and types of enemies. The game features autopause when you release the controls, live in game scores, and picks up right where you left off.

Somewhere at the nexus of Asteroids and Geometry Wars stands Meteor Blitz HD, an arcade shooter that has high production values but a difficult control scheme and ultimately a brutal learning curve.
