I think that once they release these controllers, they definitely need to give the consumers a chance to somehow "trade-in" their old controllers... I actually don't mind the current controllers, but Rumble is something many people want. I'm also curious to see what other features it will have....

I heard about some new type of rumble that rumbles on each side independently. Like if you hit the right wall playing GT the righ side of the controller would rumble. They also might add a few buttons but that is speculation. I can tell you now that there will not be a trade in program. If you want rumble you will pay for it but gamestop will happily give you maybe $20 credit toward the new controller.

Would be for the new controllers to have a red PS button when it's on. I always thought the PS button not being red like it was in the ads was disappointing.

Just would make it look cooler, and also hopefully the controllers are heavier and more solid. I think the current controllers lack stablility. Just make them weight and feel as stable as the PS2 controllers, the design is already basicly the same thing.

Hopefully they will make a little bigger and off set the analog sticks like the xbox 360 controller ( it's the best Really ! )and give real triggers instead of a flat rudder type , rumble with sixaxis is good see it coming in the next controller (americans have bigger hands )

Well, the more I think about what Sony has in store for us in the future (i.e. Home, etc.) the more I see a controller with integrated keyboard, sort of like the new 360 controller. If it turns out to be true, then hopefully Sony will not have copied from the 360 controller.

So the rumors are true then. I'm excited with this next-gen rumble their talking about. This will be perfect once MGS4 comes out.

will be similar to a sort of electric bassoon. With 24 keys and about half of them for the thumb, who would have problems? Everyone knows how to play the bassoon so it will come naturally to almost everyone!

Totally useless article, we already knew about rumble. Then it says there's gonna be other changes but, doesn't say what they are. LOL What's the point? News about nothing.

On a side note, I'm an early PS3 adopter, I bought mine launch day.
Now, I haven't complained once about all the recent PS3 bundles or even the price drop. There's no reason why I should be entitled to them and honestly, I'm fine with that.
BUT, Sony is now releasing rumble controllers that would have been included with my system except for legal issues. Since those issues have been cleared up and production starts again as though it never stopped, then I feel entitled to get my rumble back and I expect some kind of recompense.

Does anyone here have any pertinent information?

Nintendo style with a little speaker in the controller for a more immersing game play. Maybe even a little fan in the controller to cool your hands or maybe a softer more comfortable plastic. Or Dreamcast style a little screen in the controller.

Don't think that they are opting for a new design, considering all the negative comments about the prototype design. Even though I think that one surely looked more next gen than the current controller. But hey why fix something if it ain't broken... (If somebody can make a better model/design controller it's definitely Sony)

Does this mean that the first controller was incomplete? I mean it hasn't been out for long. Yes, you can play games without rumble without too much of a hazzle. But the thing is, no one will want to once there is another option. If this was Microsoft the fanboys would go "They are cheating your pants off!", "The first controller was a beta!" and so on. I guess it's ok when Sony does things like this...

All I need is added rumble with motion sensing still in there. If they do that, replace my controllers for free or for a 10-15 dollar charge, then I'm happy, and have it all in time for MGS4 and Killzone 2, then I'll be very happy.

I dislike the current PS3 controller, its too small and the thumbstick configuration is bad making the controller very uncomfortable to use. I would be pretty happy if they re-announced the boomerang controller.

Add rumble, and dont change anything else. Unless you want to make it chrome.

i'm think this is creat for the fans, but one guess, that means the controler will last less with the rumble? uhn something else they're must do to put a bigger batery for example to add more weigth to the pad i don't konw , but why is microsoft doing nothing abuout this? change something of they pad,for example add cable to the wirelles controler to recharge the batery. they don't care about the costumer, they only want money, that's why i love sony

I hope they do a redesign. I strongly prefer the 360 control. When playing resistance i cant help but think it would play so much better on the 360 pad. The weight is an issue for me too, it just feels cheap.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
