Five Most Embarrassing E3 Moments

E3 has become especially popular within the past few years, thanks to mainstream media attention and visits from high-profile celebrities such as Paul McCartney and Steven Spielberg. Unfortunately, the expo is still prone to some very embarrassing press conferences. Here are a few examples of some E3 events that didn't go they way that they intended.

RIDGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RACERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

HolyOrangeCows5831d ago (Edited 5831d ago )

Without reading:
-"Riiiiiidge Racerrrr!"
-Wii Music Presentation
-"Giant Enemy Crab"
-"Bam! There it is!"

EDIT:
Jamie Kennedy was at an Activision conference stoned?! Ahahahahahaaha!!

WhittO5830d ago

Ye, $599 didn't go down well, basically that price is like 80% of the reason there was/is so much hate thrown towards the PS3.

I think if it was $399, alot of people would've been able to handle that price and wouldn't be so eager to hate, which would continue on for years!!

Raf1k15830d ago (Edited 5830d ago )

$599 isn't exactly embarrassing though.
$599 was actually a bargain considering what you got for your money. The first BluRay players were at least £800 and the PS3 came with a shit load of bells and whistles.
It was pretty hard for a lot of people to stomach though and it was only last year that Sony finally got into gear.

I'll put it this way. If I was to buy a top of the range laptop for $599 when all the tech inside it is worth close to $1000 I'd be pretty happy with my purchase. Wouldn't you?

edit: just watched the vids. What was Kaz thinking? lol

edit2: I'll admit the laptop thing isn't quite the same as what it was with the PS3. Afterall, it was like buying a laptop for which there was hardly any software which is something that needs to be factored in but I think we can all agree it's good that the price has come down and that there are plenty of games for it.

Immortal Kaim5830d ago

LOL...I know right....I think that conference basically started the downfall of Activision as a company and look at where they are today (IN LAWSUITS)...Well, I guess they can sue Jamie Kennedy for something for that poor example of how to host an event you clearly have no interest or know nothing about...

stevenhiggster5830d ago

I thought Jamie Kennedy was hilarious :-)
But not in the way he was meant to be funny.

Silly gameAr5831d ago

Is that all you guys got now? lol. We really have come a long way if that's still the best you can do.

playstation_clan5830d ago

what a dumb question that was

WhittO5830d ago

lmao at "Giant Enemy Crab", it has to be the best line.

Wii music wasn't funny, it was painful haha, Nintendo have the worst E3s since they actually launched the Wii.

UnSelf5830d ago

ppl are buggin, Jamie Kennedy was hilarious in that last vid.

u kno its always easy to make fun of a guy on stage but time after time he shut down those "brave" audience members.

Never throw a stone and hide you hand. i woulda love to see one of those "comedians" in the audience go on stage and had a joke battle with him.

Lets knock him for his lack of being professional, not cuz he's a guy on stage making jokes. sheesh

FACTUAL evidence5830d ago (Edited 5830d ago )

dizzleK5831d ago

imo BAM! should definitely be on the list. it's certainly more well known than some bungled rock revolution demo. wii music was definitely douche chill inducing.

ClownBelt5831d ago

Guys. You should watch the Disney presentation. It made me laugh hard when they showed old people looking bored with crickets on the background sound. Lmao

VersusEM5831d ago

LOL, RIDGE RACER!!!!!!!!!!!!, I LOVE Sony and even I thought e3 2006 was retarded

HyperBear5831d ago

Yea, that will go down in History for E3 forever. But, I still cant grasp the fact, it was because of all the hilarious stuff that went on at the Sony Conference that year, is what made me wait in line to get my launch PS3...

-Alpha5830d ago

You know what was truly funny was Sony's confidence. They knew they didn't have much to offer but they had to put on a happy face and convince the audience. That was tough for them but you know what, they pulled through.

UP5830d ago

I agree, they have come a long way. I belive this embarrassment really helped them in the long run. But concerning the list, where is BAM!there it is and translator guy?

FENDR5831d ago

wheres the microsoft avatar fail where the guy says u wanna see the bottom of my shoe and the avatar goes all crazy

"Be creative 99% of the time" – Glen Schofield on how creativity can help fix AAA industry woes

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman25d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
