Mark Hamill Batman: Arkham Aslyum 2 Interview

ign writes:

Mark Hamill – the voice of Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum – has hinted that the super villain's appearance in the sequel could well be his last. Talking exclusively with IGN at the Cannes Film Festival, Hamill said of his role of the Joker, "This will be my last, there's no question about that. But it's the last hurrah."

Hamill added that he was also unsure as to whether he should even have appeared at all, initially thinking developer Rocksteady would be unable to top the original game and that he "wanted to be able to say I'd gone out on a high note," but was finally convinced to resurrect Joker once more.

Hamill also revealed how he's extremely protective over the role, but equally was blown away by Heath Ledger's interpretation of the character in The Dark Knight: "He was the most joyless Joker. Not a hint of theatricality; he was almost like a heroin addict. It never would have occurred to me, and that's why it was so delightful and surprising."

Well, the Joker has to bow out sometime, villians can't keep getting caught, escaping, getting caught, escaping.... Mark Hamill is very gifted and I have enjoyed his work as the Joker and in other roles. It's kind of sad to know there will never be another Hamill Joker, but maybe it's for the best.

Kingdom Come5847d ago

Simply put, Mark Hamill is a fantastic voice actor. If Arkham Asylum 2 will be Joker's curtain call, let's have him go out with a Bang...

despair5847d ago

not sure if he's saying no more joker for the batman games or in all media? i'm not very good with interpretation sometimes. amazing performances by Hamill every time.

Dark_Helmet5847d ago

Maybe he wishes to retire from doing Joker. I still think of his voice when I read the comics.

Rocksteady's New Game Director Is an Assassin's Creed Franchise Veteran

Rocksteady has hired a new game director that not only is an Assassin's Creed franchise veteran but even worked on the Batman Arkham games.

Blad3runner00270d ago

I wonder if ex Ubisoft employees put “worked on Assassins Creed” on their resume or not, as it would give an automatic red flag to avoid hiring them.

cloganart270d ago

Unlike what we may personally think, most AC games have received generally favorable critical acclaim and managed enough commercial success to warrant an uncomfortable amount of sequels. 😂

neutralgamer1992270d ago

A series which has sold over 200 million copies should be on your resume contrary to popular belief people doing the hire want to know if you have had success before

TheColbertinator270d ago

Plenty of gamers enjoyed Valhalla, Odyssey, Ezio's trilogy and the Origins. High critical acclaim and high sellers to boot. Get off your high horse.

Inverno270d ago

The vast majority of the industry follow the Assassin's Creed template for open world games. The issue is fanboys wanna act blind to the fact that all the issues they have with AC are present in all the open world games made in the last decade. While also not having touched an AC game in that long.

It could be great! He worked as Design Director on Arkham: Origins & Game Director on Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Valhalla and Origins.

I think this is a great sign that Rocksteady is shifting back to a Single Player experience after Suicide Squad. That's reason enough for me to celebrate.

HBO’s “The Penguin” Makes Me Want A Batman-Less Arkham Game

Shaz from GL: "HBO's The Penguin proves that you don't need Batman to tell a Batman story, which makes me wonder if the same could be done for a video game."

Enough of Batman less Gotham games

zsquaresoff562d ago

The only reason why anyone is watching this show is because it is in the 'Batman Universe'

GhostScholar562d ago

We got that with Arkham knights. Wasn’t great

GhostScholar561d ago

Yes I know it was called Gotham knights lol I said Arkham because if may as well been called that because it was basically a sequel.

Flewid638561d ago (Edited 561d ago )

Gotham Knights had zero connection to the Arkham series. Totally separate universe.

Rebel_Scum562d ago

Yeah no thanks. Not a fan at all of playing as other characters like Nightwing, Robin, Harley etc. Don't even like their detective mechanics much so Gordon is out too.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH562d ago

Nah Batman is needed. I only want to play as Batman in the “Batman Universe “
