Good vid, but I disagree with one point I did go out and buy Resistance 1+2, Future Tools, Q4B and a crack in time. Its got nothing to do with a lack of support from us.

Yes sony let them down maybe with advertising and pushing them into overcrowded release spots, I can understand them wanting to make more money and to own new IP.

Good luck to them, but we will not see them pushing the PS3 as they have done in the past with new IP and that is disappointing for sure, after 16 years its gonna be a shock for them to be going solo with publisher pressure etc lets wait and see.

Im in the same boat as you. I bought Resistance 1+2 and all the ratchet and clanks, but you can't help but notice, there is a little lack of support this gen, then there was last gen. I agree with you that Sony probably could have done way better marketing their games and perhaps not have rushed them to complete a game by every Christmas, but its what Insomniac are good at. Pushing the boundaries and getting good, fun products out every year, just look at their track record.

But if you think about it, every year when Insomniac made a Ratchet game for the PS2, it was the game to get on PS2 that Christmas year, and they were all fun and sales were above and beyond what they were expecting. Now, flash forward to this Gen, and even though Resistance 1 did extremely good in sales for the PS3 launch, you can't help but look at the numbers of all the PS3 exclusives and ask, wheres the support?

All of us faithful obviously will buy those exclusive games we want to buy, because it is what makes the PS3 different and awesome, but then it all comes back to sales and numbers, and frankly, a lot of the Sony exclusive series of games: GoW, MGS, R&C, etc, did better in the PS2 days than now. But I think its all a matter of timing, and once there are more PS3s in the homes, then the sales should drastically pick up.

...who can't even spell.

Ya, sorry about the error in the description. Also, yes it is my opinion, but the move really is in Insomniac's favor. This is coming from someone who is primarily a PS3 player.

Killzone3Helghast5848d ago

Insomniac IPs are not owned by EA. EA only publishes their game and lends them a hand here and there.

Gunner_Ali5848d ago

its neccessary for any independent developer im just happy for the insomniac guys they deserve more success, why did i say more success because 14 years with playstation family when they dominated last two generations they were the success story along with naughty dog and others who were with sony at that time.

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits239d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola239d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Juancho51239d ago

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

BlackCountryBob239d ago

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

__SteakDeck__238d ago

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.
