Video gamers can control dreams, study hints

"Playing video games before bedtime may give people an unusual level of awareness and control in their dreams, LiveScience has learned.

That ability to shape the alternate reality of dream worlds might not match mind-bending Hollywood films such as 'The Matrix,' but it could provide an edge when fighting nightmares or even mental trauma."

dunno about control in dreams but I tend to dream about games i'm obsessed over at the time. Dream't I was in heavy rain with multiple sequences, was hilarious to think about when I woke up after seeing the arrows and button presses in my dream.

UnSelf5826d ago (Edited 5826d ago )

i never dream about games.

i usually have 1 of 4 dreams

1. me fkin some girl i kno

2. assisting some famous icon

3. Super agility including flight (best dreams ever!!!)

4. This is the weirdest....I have super painful electric currents running through my brain, however i can see everything in my room but im actually sleep. Scariest thing in the world smfh, i hate those dreams. Both physically painful and fearful

Whenever I'm dreaming and the moment something scary happens, my mind would automatically trigger the thought of "open your eyes", then I would follow its directions and proceed to open my eyes and voila! I wake up instantaneously. ^_^

With this method, the monsters don't even get a chance to chase me around before I wake up. They appear and I'm already awake! >:D

The question is, while you're in a dream, how can you know that you're currently dreaming?

You don't. That is why the trigger works. The trigger comes into effect whenever something scary happens. The trigger simply tells you to open your eyes, and surely if you do, you WILL wake up regardless.

I was able to manually "implant" that kind of mental/psychological trigger into my mind when I was just 5 years old.

Awookie5826d ago

Yea i have been having some SC2 dreams lately, basically creating a whole game in my head and being able to influence it, crazy stuff.

Imperator5826d ago

@Awookie

Dreaming about SC2 tactics?? I thought I was the only one. lol.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5826d ago

''Dreaming about SC2 tactics''

Lol.

FACTUAL evidence5826d ago (Edited 5826d ago )

I thought everyone was able to control their dreams...I always have. Example...I'd be walking down a street in my dream, and i think like, "watch this hot chick pop out and talk to me" and then that part happens.....This article was unusual to me. I have always been able to control my dreams. The other night I had a dream about zombies....it was only 3 of theme but they got killed off fast before the virus could spread lmao....but not videogame related...Only time i had a dream about a videogame was last september...I woke up thinking i had UC2 early..I really woke up searching for it lmao.

Domer255826d ago

I do dream about some games giving my money back, but that has yet to come to fruition.

ReservoirDog3165826d ago

Yeah I never really dream. At best once or twice a week. Sometimes none for as long as a month or two.

And I don't have much control over them. This is pretty interesting though.

HolyOrangeCows5826d ago

When I wake up, I forget my dream almost instantly. In fact, I've been racking my brain today, trying to remember what awesome thing happened in my dream from last night.

Back when I remembered my dreams as clear as an actual event, I could SOMETIMES control them. And I usually just said,
"Screw it, everybody go away, I don't feel like dreaming. Dreams are just delusions"
and then I would just sit around in that environment until I woke up.

It was pretty weird. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad that I can't remember my dreams anymore. I suppose I should be, it's 8 wasted hours if I don't do at least some thinking/imagining/whatever.

villevalorox5826d ago (Edited 5826d ago )

I have always wanted to lucid dream. I remember 1 time I had told myself in my dream that I was dreaming if that counts lol.

ALSO! Funy question I had asked in my psyc class, do you guys dream in 3rd or 1st person? I always dream in 3rd person like I'm watching a movie of myself or something...
