Yah, I play the games but I haven't watched the anime in such a longggg time. To me, the anime pales in comparison to the actual games themselves.

I think the last time I played a Pokemon game was maybe last year, and I'm 22 now. Think it was emerald I started playing, but got bored with it after a while.

I still like going back to the old games because of the strategy elements, and although they can be quite simple, it still adds a layer of complexity making it more than just a game based on a kids cartoon. I normally start a game and spend more time coming up with a team with balanced skills etc than actually playing, and when I have to actually do the story elements I get bored easily. Micromanaging stats can be quite addictive.

Although I didn't really care for Diamond/Pearl, and haven't played any of the newer games. The franchise has become quite stale, and like many really popular Japanese titles, the developers don't want to upset their millions of die hard fans, who don't seem to mind little in the way of change.

why are gamers the only ones who have to justify or make excuses for their hobby? 40 year old women were reading twilight and soaking their panties over the actors, they didn't make excuses or try to justify it. play what you like, your opinion is the only one that matters.

I used to loved pokemon like 10 years ago but I grew tired of it because the same thing we saw back in the day it's exactly the same we are seeing now. I mean, how many times can you play the same game? Even the first season of the anime's still the best! In those times the pokemons were more like 'wild animals" but now they are like characters that are part of the show. The battles used to be fierce but now the violence have been toned down so much that the show's like watching a disney cartoon.

I tried to go back to the games when they introduced the battles with 2 pokemons at the same time because I thought that there would be more strategy injected into the battle system. But I was wrong, there was no depth. It was the same POS all over again and I just quit. Right now I don't have an idea of what's happening in the pokemon world but I bet that nothing has changed, just new pokemons and crap but exactly the same damn thing.

Never tried a Pokemon game. Just one of those sickly cute titles I couldn't face people knowing I played. Much in the way I hid my Animal Crossing addiction.

The anime sucks. No doubt about it. Game is still pretty fun, though any other franchise (cept maybe Monster Hunter) would have been reamed out by now for recycling the same gameplay so many times.

It should be noted that the anime is based on the games. The games are the head of the franchise and shouldn't be judged by the anime which came later. The games are great for anybody mature enough not to care whether it's "cool" or not. They always get very good reviews. The people who insist Pokemon is just for kids have likely never played the games themselves and are either just blindly buying into the popular belief that Pokemon is for kiddies or are using the anime to judge the games.

as for the tv show, yeah it sucks. i liked the 1st bit, but then they got rid of misty then it went down hill. its really boring at that now.

the manga is way better. i think the manga is how people would use pkmn if they were real. haven't read adventure/special in a while though.
