NXT Gamer: Split/Second Velocity Review

NXT Gamer's Synonymble gives his opinions on the new racer from Blackrock Studios, Split/Second Velocity.

"So it turns out there are other games out this week. Who knew? Despite a certain shootin’, gamblin’, horse-ridin’ son-of-a-gun marauding all over your friend’s consoles, three new IP’s are being released upon the world; Modnation Racers, Blur and Split/Second: Velocity. Three driving games, each with interesting tweaks and hooks on the genre. So which deserves your money? Well maybe take a moment to see if Split/Second: Velocity is the one for you."

Like Montrealien said don't skip on Split/second Because of one Review its a good game I liked it more then Blur

Was Playing Split Second last Night Online for PC, is very fun.

Especially the Mode Survival, very fun mode.

If someone is playing for PC, this is my account: xBUCANEEROx Just add me in game to play with some N4G Users.

Do not listen to this review. This game is alot of fun, and is the most intense and exciting racing game i have ever played. Blur is also quite good, but Split Second is deffinetly better. 6.5 is way to harsh.

Montrealien5839d ago

I agree that split second deserves more then a 6.5. It has one of the best first impressions, however I do question its lasting appeal.

As for Blur, I do not question it`s lasting appeal what so ever, that game has long legs and is my favorite arcade racing game this year.

One is from the team behind PGR, the other from the team behind Pure. Certainly can't question the pedigree of the developers. I've played the Split/Second demo and the Blur beta. Loved both, but it looks like I have no choice but to devote the coming 6-8 months exclusively to RDR. It's beast.

I totally agree that this game deserves a better score. It is a solid 8.0-8.5 score range. I can't wait to see what a sequel will bring to the series. There is A LOT they can do to make this series have a staying power such as a Burnout.

aCHU5839d ago

OT: like the first dude said,Blur it is then.

Off topic: N4G IS KILLZOWNED!

TiKiMaN15839d ago

The reviewer must have sucked at this game. I have been playing the game since Tuesday. It is so much fun. The racing is amazing, the cars control well, and the destruction is fantastic. If you want a proper review of Split/Second visit:

Blurs servers were the main issue but would love to see it return.

AZRoboto3231d ago

I'll point out that these games are all from the X360/PS3 era - they've already had HD releases when they first came out. Split/Second and Blur - with the crazy vehicle physics capable today, why would we not want sequels to them?

The other games, all a matter of opinion of course, but... thank you for your ads between every single game. /s

TheDCD3231d ago

Problem with sequels is that they aren't very likely. Activision dropped Blur like a bad habit, and Disney isn't doing games anymore. So I'll happily take the originals.

Remember Me
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Alan Wake
Lost Odyssey
Demon Souls

TheDCD3230d ago

As much as I'd kill for a Demon's Souls remake, isn't likely. We'll probably get Bloodborne 2 instead.

PhoenixUp3230d ago

Dafuq kinda title is that? These games were already released on HD consoles though...

Man I loved Split Second... I wonder why it never got a sequel?

Nekroo913913d ago

Didn't sold enough copies, the studio was reduced, etc. You know how things work.

barb_wire3913d ago

Disney shut the studio down. Damn shame too, awesome game.

Roccetarius3913d ago

As it was said, Disney shut it down due to it not being successful enough. With that said, a sequel could definitely have improved on Split Second's arcade madness.

Paytaa3913d ago

Split/Second and Blur were the two most under rated racers last gen. They were great games and wish there were potential sequels.

Roccetarius3913d ago (Edited 3913d ago )

Personally, i prefer games like that, more so Split Second than Blur. I also remember when i was playing Destruction Derby Raw back in the day.

GRIP is a game going to early access on Steam, because there wasn't enough people backing it on Kickstarter (unfortunately).

That's one of my only hopes for racers i enjoy.

Rookie_Monster3913d ago

Hoping for BC as I still got the XB1 disc and still play it time to time. This and Midnight Club LA along with Project Gotham Racing 4 are hidden racing gems from the X360 days.
