Dead Space 2 visuals compare to Uncharted 2 - Visceral

Visceral expects Dead Space 2's visuals "to stack up very favourably" with Uncharted 2's.

The game's executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, told Edge that players are "going to be blown away" by the production values on show in the survival horror sequel.

Uncharted 2 came out last year.

While it still looks amazing; by the time Dead Space 2 is released, what's the chances of there being something which looks even better out there on the market?

No doubt there's a PS3 exclusive coming out which will raise the bar yet again, much like Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and God of War III have etc.

ticklechamp5855d ago

I have to agree with you. I'll be happy if the graphics are slightly better than DS. Hopefully they don't change the gameplay or art direction.

SonyOwnsNextYear5855d ago (Edited 5855d ago )

all i read was, scifi thriller of the year wants to replicate UNCHARTED 2's technical feats.

In other words, hats off to you naughty dog. the industry acknowledges your talent.

As a huge fan of dead space (replayed 5 times), you have my money already.....just give me more weird sh1t to kill.

Boody-Bandit5855d ago (Edited 5855d ago )

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Hits, hits!
We need hits!
Stop already. This is what brings down anticipation and some remorse once the game is released and it doesn't live up to over the top hype. How many times I have seen X game will eclipse </insert what is considered graphics king here> and actually have it come true?

I will tell you when. When it's a Sony exclusive going up against another Sony exclusive. I'm not being a fanboy but just being true to my name sake.

SuperStrokey11235855d ago

Doesnt matter to me, the first deadspace still looks great.

FACTUAL evidence5855d ago (Edited 5855d ago )

Visceral trying to stack up to a god like UC2, it should at least try to stack up to UC2's predecessor.

kingjoker345855d ago

actions speak louder then words. Lets see it DS devs

I doubt that...its a bit pushing it...

LostDjinn5855d ago

I sure hope Visceral can put their money where their mouth is. DI being likened to GOW3 sort of blew up in their face.

Nihilism5855d ago (Edited 5855d ago )

Hey Djinn, bubbles for the comment and because you're a;

O.T, I hope they aren't B.S-ing, it's been a long time since 2006, it's time for graphics to move on...

Dead Space 1 did look amazing though on PC..even with edge AA only there wasn't a jagged edge to be seen. It also ran incredibly well for it's visuals, so if it is the same it won't be so bad

LostDjinn5855d ago (Edited 5855d ago )

Where you been? Meh, it doesn't matter. Good to see you back. Anyway, I'm thinking PC for this one. If it's just a DX9 console port I'm not going to be impressed though. I'm tired of waiting for DX11 games. Someone needs to light a fire under dev's to get some action on that front.

Edit: Lol. Have a Bubble for vid. I love that movie.

Uncharted 2 Is the Most Important PlayStation Exclusive of All Time

In a list of games that defined the PlayStation 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves would certainly be one of the top contenders. The blockbuster sequel to 2007’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune not only received critical acclaim and became a massive hit for Sony’s third console when it was released 15 years ago on October 13th, 2009, but it also cemented Naughty Dog’s future as a developer of cinematic, story-driven action-adventure games as opposed to its history of colorful platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter from previous PlayStation generations. To this day, Uncharted 2 stands as one of the PS3’s best exclusives and one of the most important PlayStation games of all time.

gold_drake568d ago

it was pretty good. especially the multiplayer

KyRo568d ago

I loved this era on multiplayer games from Sony. People used to call the modes tacked on multiplayer but they were enjoyable. I loved Factions even more. I'm Still gutted that the second one isn't coming out.

-Foxtrot568d ago

Yeah, that one game where it not only has an amazing single player but the multiplayer was also just as good.

A fresh a breath air with it's more "skill focused, less is more" multiplayer in a time during COD fever where every other game with online was trying to be like it.

Shame NaughtyDog eventually did do COD like things with Uncharted 3 and 4, they ruined what made the original so good. It become an over the top arcade fest in the end.

Inverno568d ago

Ironic cause the MP was basically Halo, and Bungie helped on the technical side of things too. MP was more simple back then, I've said this before but I played U2 MP religiously. I sucked at it like you have no idea, but mah gawd did I have so much fun. Can't find an MP game that hooked me like U2s these days. Then Factions came along and while it had its problem I found new religion with it. Agh damn it why did they cancel Factions 2 bruhh.

gold_drake568d ago

i had so much fun too, played almost every night with mates or cousins baha

Relientk77568d ago

It is for sure my favorite game in the series. It's such a blast to play. The train levels still hold up and are fun as hell as well as the entire game.

RaidenBlack568d ago (Edited 568d ago )

Still remember the first gameplay video ... shooting the chasing truck and then the beautiful visuals & details whilst traversing the dilapidated Nepal streets ... perfection
Too bad Sony never ported the trilogy to PC ...

RaiderNation568d ago

I would argue it's God of War.

darthv72568d ago

I'll say, the PS3 really did sequels better than people give it credit for. Resistance 2, Uncharted 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Infamous 2... all were better than their initial offerings and still hold up to this day.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel779d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel778d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia778d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda778d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long778d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto778d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long778d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic777d ago (Edited 777d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?
