It's hard to find good help. In an interview with the Financial Times (registration required), Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimota said that the company would only develop new IP in Japan, and use foreign studios solely for ports and sequels. Previously, the company had been using non-Japanese studios to develop new properties and franchises- in contrast to other Japanese publishers like Square Enix, which has pursued a strategy of acquiring foreign studios in their entirety.

But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Capcom has clarified its current stance on generative AI in its videogames. The major Japanese publisher and developer behind popular series like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter has revealed that while it doesn't use gen-AI assets in their games, it is exploring ways to use generative AI to streamline the game development process.
Using Artificial Intelligence (more like Realistic Stupidity) art assets in your games is a great way to get people to boycott your product. We don't need that ugly, unsophisticated, generic, fake art in our games, good on CAPCOM for not using that garbage.
Naw you can't fool us, You work with Nvidia, that's a fact! And here you wanted to advertise but now look stupid!
Well even the Japanese Capcom developers are failing these days.
So they keep on saying, but still keep on releasing games developed in the West...
i thought bionic commando was a far better game than re5, lost planet and 99% of the megaman games. at least b.c. didn't completely betray the i.p. and was closer to the series roots than re5 was.
Maybe we'll get to see Breath of Fire 5 soon but I doubt it.
Japanese devs have been trying to 'westernise' their games for a while now - and finally one of them has realised this doesn't work!
The sole reason some Japanese developers are popular in the West is because of the quirky and different types of games they provide! Why would they try and westernise!!
SquareEnix should take note!
