i too believe that sony will announce a psp 2 . sony is the only company that i trust out of the three top gaming companies to make a hardcore portable gaming device that is able to produce amazing graphics , games and online gaming from anywhere via a 3g/4g connection.

Chubear5861d ago

They'll announce it, show a mock up then next year they'll show a near final or final version and by early 2012 it'll come out; or maybe even late 2011

Cueil5861d ago

we were thinking it would probably use the Tegra 2 or the Snapdragon... both are a great deal more powerful and use less battery life then the current PSP

How does cez still have bubbles?

If they do announce a new PSP, I hope for backwards capability. The least they can do is allow us to play the downloaded versions of PSP games.

hamoor5861d ago

you're right
PSP2 must happen in e3
The psp 1 is getting to old and outdated
New hardware would be very nice
Imagine....
OLED HD screen
graphics that is something between ps2 and ps3 graphics
wait...this is sony,no need to imagine anything
SONY MAKE,BELEIVE.

Ssxtreme365861d ago (Edited 5861d ago )

why the hell would sony announce an updated version of the same system they showed off at last years e3? honestly?

if anything it would be nice to briefly here them mention that they are working on one but for them to come out and show it off a year after they showed off their last model seems more silly than actually realistic.

"The psp 1 is getting to old and outdated"
-which is exactly why they made the pspgo. did you guys forget about that are something? i know the pspgo is no where near as good as the 1-3rd gen psp's but c'mon, your kidding right?

it seems like too many people are getting caught up in to the hype. it just like how people are saying "Killzone 3 is coming out in 2010" and actually believe its going to happen. why in the world would sony release 2 of its best console exclusive fps's (resistance 3 & k3) around the same time? we're talking about in the oct - dec months too. oh, and let's not forget that it that these games would be going up against halo reach and black ops which are going to do multi-millions within the first week, so for sony to oversaturate the shooter market this year by adding both R3 and K3 to the list of shooter games for fall 2010, it would seem as if they were not trying to get as much sales as they would like.

R3- probably in Oct or a few weeks after black ops is released
K3- early next year. possibly around the same time heavy rain and gow 3 were released this year.

ABizzel15861d ago (Edited 5861d ago )

I don't know if it'll be at this E3 I'm really thinking next year's or this year's TGS (which seems more like it with a March 2011 release date). But they need to hurry, because phones are making an impact in the gaming world, and Sony needs to get in before it's too late.

The PSP 2 or PSPhone as I call it, needs to have all the features to be able to compete with the best smart phones on the market.

wicko5861d ago

I dunno I'm still betting on another PSP SKU. Like a 4000 or a PSP Go with a UMD drive.

hamoor5861d ago (Edited 5861d ago )

i doubt it
Ds is already out selling the psp and let nintendo release the 3ds without a competition would be plain stupid
I guess if they launch the psp 2 first it will effect the sales A LOT!!!!!

Ssxtreme365861d ago

wait a minute, didn't the same people say that the psp2 was going to be shown at last years e3 as well but in all actuality it turned out to be the pspgo?

i know you guys are hyped up about getting a psp2 (i know i am but if it doesn't have 2 analog sticks then fuck it) but really? do we need to recycle this same old rumor every year?

hamoor5861d ago

yeah but this time nintendo will show the 3ds
So i guess this is the perfect time for sony to reveal the psp 2 to steal the spotlight from the 3ds

Ssxtreme365861d ago

Nintendo releases a new ds every 9 months or so....so its hardly a surprise. if the ds xl or w/e happened to come out sometime after e3, they would have most likely shown more of it off at e3 so its nothing new...

as for it being the perfect time? well, people were saying the same thing last year when the psp go was announced so doesn't that sound alittle bit too soon to you? if they were to come out and say that "yes, we are working on the psp2" than i could see that being a realistic occurrence but for them to come out and show it off a year later at the same conference that they showed off their last model seems a bit silly.
it sounds more or less like what the fans want rather than what will most likely end up happening but then again, i could be wrong. i would love to see a real successor to the 1-3rd gen psp's that has 2 analog sticks.

and also, with the sting of games sony has lined up to be released on the orignal psp models they already have enough to steal the spotlight from the 3ds.

silvacrest5861d ago

"Nintendo releases a new ds every 9 months or so"

i doubt that true but even if it is, is there a big difference between the DS SKU's? bigger screen, small forfactor, these things are minor in comparison to 3Ds

same goes for the PSP, a PSP2 could really boost sales by ending piracy and maybe devs will actually make games for it

IF not this Year, it'll be Next year and It'll be an Awesome Piece of Tech that will Do More Stuff than Just Gaming

PSP²

tmt3455861d ago

or i ain't buyin

the tech is there.

ThanatosDMC5860d ago

If they do announce it and the release is around November, then i'll probably give my black Go to some kid and buy it. I hope it's the as portable as the Go or at least make it pocket sized.

it makes sense combined with their predictions and their sales numbers... PSP is a dieing platform and they really need a rejuvinating shot to their portable brand

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8535d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele35d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk35d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay35d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10136d ago (Edited 36d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit35d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg35d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10135d ago (Edited 35d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14935d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle48d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit48d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog49d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog48d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad49d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_49d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage49d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda48d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
