Going with gamestop on this one. seems like dead eye is going to be far more important than building fame points.

Echo3075854d ago

I'm going with the Amazon one, because I want the free $20 gift card!

This game has got me a lot more excited than I anticipated being. It doesn't hurt that the 3 leaked reviews thus far have been 9, 9.75 and 10. 2 of those sources (GI and OPM) are sources I trust for reviews too. :-)

Bring on Tuesday!

mal_tez925854d ago

GTA IV got good reviews and it sucked. I really hope this isn't the same deal.

Echo3075854d ago

"GTA IV got good reviews and my opinion is that it sucked." <---Fixed

I loved GTA IV, played through it twice, and bought both expansions.

The fact that I loved it so much makes me even more excited for RDR.:-)

Unicron5854d ago

I went with Amazon, the gold guns are cool but $20? That makes getting War For Cybertron oh so nicer.

DirtyLary5854d ago (Edited 5854d ago )

Got it back from Amazon. $56.00 + $20 gift card, release day delivery.

All those single player items are going to be earned by playing anyway.

Amazon is the better choice.

Gameplay9995854d ago

I went with neither, I want the game to be challenging from the get go, I don't welcome any advantages from the on-set. This is all marketing BS. I'll just pick it up right away at my local Walmart, no muss, no fuss, get in, get out, and go!

Ssxtreme365854d ago

cant argue with that. i was also surprised by how good walmart's deal was for this game. defiantly didnt expect to see them matching amazon's pre order bonus's.

ReservoirDog3165854d ago

You do mean preorder at walmart right? Cause if you preorder from walmart, you get a $20 walmart giftcard. It's an online only one but you can get a free movie or something.

I mean, why not preorder really?

Gameplay9995853d ago

No Pre-order, just go in and get it, works every time.

Domer255854d ago

20 bucks back can't be beat, this release day delivery will be interesting. Hope it shows up on the 18th.

jmare5854d ago

I'm going with Walmart because I can just walk in and buy the game.

cpuchess5853d ago

I agree, and you won't have to wait for UPS to deliver it either

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty127d ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan127d ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher127d ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty127d ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies12127d ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

Red Dead Redemption Hits 3.3 Million Netflix Downloads on Mobile

Red Dead Redemption hits 3.3 million Netflix downloads on mobile, underscoring how subscription access drives reach over paid sales.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83129d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv72131d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard130d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator130d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake129d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion163d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140162d ago (Edited 162d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
