I just never looked closely at those screens. Maybe they're the console version but the textures looks flat as hell.

I'm actually looking forward to this game, this reason doesn't change it.

I remember hooking up 2 PS1's + 2 TV's + my mate round and us playing 'DOOM' + 'Final DOOM' ;-P Happy days!!!;)
+ I thought 'Quake 3: Revolution' on the PS2 was brilliant(i was the only 1 who seemed to think that tho, not sure why) The 4 player split-screen mode was 'FUN'(i still play it sometimes) ;)

for this (last year?) and thought then it looked a 'must have'. Can't see how the authors 'feeling' justifies the negativity.
Also regarding Borderlands being post-apocalyptic - its set on another world! When I first played Borderlands (great game imho) I could really relate it to the RAGE trailer.

Secondly: Of course he hasn't played the game! This blog post is just mere speculation. That's what most blog post about gaming are all about.

And actually I have also got little concerns whether ID is going to deliver this time or not. The game has been long in development and I'm certainly not too impressed when it comes to story-setting. Screenshots are nice imo, but not astonishing (like I was expecting from this game).

I think this blogger goes a little too far for thinking that RAGE is going to suck! I don't think so. I'm pretty sure RAGE is going to be good or even great game, but I still am a little concerned at this point. And I am damn right entitled to my concerns. That doesn't make the blogger or neither me an ID-hater. I'm still really much looking forward to playing this game. So why all the rage? (sorry for the pun) ;)

I just hope driving/shooting won't be 50/50, I'd rather shoot at those masked guys than drive around cayons.

I'm a Big ID Fan, I Love Companies that push gaming forward or
takes a gamble, or Tells the world that It's ok to do this.

A Few Companies come to mind.

ID: They created Doom and Quake and other games, they made it ok to play FPS.

Bungie: They expanded the FPS Genre(Halo) and created a huge Multiplayer experience that was fun.

Square Enix: The Kings of RPG's, first they were just Square though, Enix was a seperate company, There Final Fantasy series was always fun and unique(Hated FF8 though LOL).

Naughty Dog: Pushing the boundaries of Graphics (AND) Game play with the amazing Uncharted series.

Nintendo: Sure the Wii is the weakest in power wise of the 3 consoles but they Introduced motion controles to us and I think thats an Incredible thing, also I Have Good flashbacks when I think of Mario and Zelda!, Fun times.

Sony: Always pushing Tech in general forward and seems very comitted to gaming.

Microsoft: yes even them, Putting a hard drive in the XBOX was a great thing, Also Windows was developed by them, not always perfect but hey? every companies IS NOT perfect.

MM: They said it is ok to allow user content and to share it in game ON a console, LBP is fun! and allows the entire family to play it together, They created a new Genre FOR consoles!.

So to say RAGE will suck is like a Blind man saying I can see!, Nothing but props and thumbs up for ID.

i mean, if i was a game developer, i'd be DISGUSTED with the herd, sheep mentality gamers have adopted this generation.

i'm going to sound like an old man, but back when i was growing up, we tended to flock to games that we LIKED, not games that we were TOLD to like. Nintendo had excellent marketers, sure, but games like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Sonic were genuinely awesome, and worth supporting.

the gaming media didn't have this agenda to drive hits to their sites back then. because of that, they were a bit more honest and dignified when reporting the gaming news.

the gaming media this generation is the equivalent of a TABLOID, but there are no gaming equivalents of TIME or PEOPLE to help, at the least, add some class to game coverage.

i remember when game journalists were actually ENTHUSIASTIC about new games. even if the game ultimately ended up sucking, they were truly excited to simply new titles coming, ESPECIALLY new titles from developers as renowned and established as Id.

i can't say whether Rage is going to be good or bad, but i CAN say that i'm looking forward to finding out. it looks promising. i don't need a bullet point list telling me why it's not going to be all that. hell, you can do that with ANYTHING, but why bother to tear down the hard work of another person when you haven't even TOUCHED the finished product yet?

It's amazing how the game isn't even released & some SAD case is dumping on it. Look at the guys record you SAD case & wake up & cheer up. Stop trying to make everybody miserable.

Articles like this gives the gaming collective a bad name. How the hell can you say it's going to suck without witnessing footage of its current build?

Actually, this article has a lot I've also been thinking about.

The open world is especially a big change for Id, hope they can pull it off. But I am feeling that RAGE is just something that's been done before.

Can't wait for Doom4 though.

I don't see why this article needs to complain.

Game play beats graphics every time - and no one knows how good the game play is yet. And to me the graphics look atmospheric.

Also, the complaint about post-apocalyptic games being a tired formula... What? Sure we've seen a few more post-apoc games recently - but more games than the wizards and warriors themed games, or near future combat themed games?? I don't think so. Plus the variety in post-apoc games seems pretty huge - you can't really compare Fallout 3's, Bordlerand's, or Metro 2033's settings - they all feel very different.

And complaining about the NAME of the game. C'mon... grasping at straws!

I hope this guy actually seen this game in action cause a lot of the other gaming journalist said the game looks incredible so I'm questioning this dude's credibility as official journalist but hey everyone entitled to their own opinion, but that doesn't I have to respect it.

I do agree with the point that consoles are dragging down the PC as developers continue to make games across three platforms Gimping the PS3 and PC versions but poor sales will eventually stop the maddness as PS3 PC or 360 exclusives are the only high sellers with the occasional MW2 anamolie.

Make games that take full advantage of each platform for better results and sales you moron developers.

No noticeable visual difference between the PC and console version? Well obviously the graphics are going to get middled by that. HOWEVER, its not like when Doom 3 came out it was the best looking game out there, the Source engine proved to be much more versatile and long lasting, but Doom 3 was pretty good nonetheless. id is a small developer and they've made 1 game in the past 10 years. They're glory days might be over due to the production values of games this generation but I wouldn't count them out as not being able to make a really good game.
