LevelUP | Alan Wake Review

LevelUP: Alan Wake is a great title for those who are interested in games that have an excellent story;on a personal level, I can tell you that the narrative is a masterpiece that could be easily put on the table when discussing whether a game can to be art, and, if we add the excellent presentation that is up there with the greatest TV shows of our time, and the incredible visual effects, I can only recommend it widely. If David Lynch and Stephen King saw the story I'm sure they would be proud, we expect this to be the birth of a new franchise and eagerly wish that the DLC is of the same quality as the full game. I won't doubt Remedy again, Microsoft did well to get this title as an exclusive.

Alan Wake is in no doubt serious contender for G.O.T.Y with over the top mouth watering graphics which of like was left to Movie Studio's and never thought possible on console's that is until now, u will be treated too a non stop heart thromping action from beginning to end Alan Wake is truly a experience u would not wanna miss out on if u love graphics alone this is a must buy title.

A change in the wind5866d ago

Funny, not one single review has described Alan Wake like that. I can`t believe you`re still trying to keep the hype train going. You`re not fooling anybody.

divideby05866d ago

^ we are reading the same reviews..not sure what others are reading...please linky up which calls this a goty contender

Therealspy035866d ago

we should wait til the year is over before ppl starting saying stupid things like "goty" for ANY game.

i heard ppl saying goty for gow 3 in 2009. does ANYONE on n4g think before speaking?

R2D25866d ago (Edited 5866d ago )

AW is a purchase 4 me.

boysenberry5866d ago

LOL who are you kidding? I bet you don't even believe half the sh*t you type on this site!!

Redrum0595866d ago

the good reviews are rolling in for this game, nice.
but as far as GOTY, i see games like ME2,GOW3,LBP2, being contenders but, but there are too many horror shooter games out for this to be GOTY

GOW3-beautiful graphics on an epic scale

ME2-known to be one of the best RPGs out there so far

LBP2- well, the 1st game speakes for itself, amazing inovative player creator content.

as far as Alan wake, yes the graphics are good, but not the best and nothing else in it that hasnt been seen in another game before.
not bashing cuz i still think the game is gonna be good, but short of GOTY.

Michael-Jackson5866d ago (Edited 5866d ago )

There's serious doubt in your comment, lol.

It's definitely a game of the year contender but of course time will tell after we play it.

divideby05866d ago

was on my must buy list and now its a rental...mainly because of it being short and RDR out the same day... for 60 bucks I want value...and short SP games just dont get my $$$...same went for HR..

and judging by the reviews...how is this game a GOTY contender...most are 8.5 to 9 ???, well below games like ME2, GOW and you will see RDR all are 9.5s or better ??? so how does one think this is a GOTY contender

lowcarb5866d ago (Edited 5866d ago )

It's got free episodic and course future purchase content which will add to the value of the game. RDR looks great but taking these reviews to heart is ashame.

edit: Let me search around for it. Give me a minute.

divideby05866d ago

I didnt know about the free content...is there a linky to that...thanx

GameOn5866d ago (Edited 5866d ago )

First DLC episode comes free with new purchases. We don't know how large the episodes are though.

I'm not gonna find a link so you can either take a random internet posters word for it (un-advisable) or you can just go to the Alan Wake forums and find it yourself.

lowcarb5866d ago

Here you go... " http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... Also don't forget there will be episodic content coming quite often.

scofios5866d ago (Edited 5866d ago )

Don't get me wrong i am not Bashing alen wake , but getting hyped en supporting episodic content is the worst thing a gamer can do , paying for content that had to be on the disc on first place is Unexceptable, and i don't care if its a game on the xbox or the ps3 or the wii. We Shouldn't support it as gamers .

not matter to me, I want to play the game. I am not a fan of gore or horror, but a psychological thriller with no gore, I am in!!
All the sites that I personally frequent (outside of N4G links) have given the game great reviews, not 10's mind you, but damn good!(Destructoid, VideoGamer, CVG, OXM to name a few)

My GOTY thus far is ME2 or TF2, but Tf2 is always in the GOTY category for me!

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8776d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg188d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

Tacoboto775d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia776d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger776d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie776d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

776d ago
Profchaos776d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie776d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh776d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
