for me personally,im dissapointed, the way the magazines and reviews were making it out to be made me even more dissapointed. i dont understand why they changed the whole open gameplay mechanicm im just a tad dissapointed. as far as the review goes, i dont agree with it, i think it deserves 7 out of 10.

This is a story driven game. Having an open world would have been cool. But then it would have slow down the flow of the story. And you may have a hard time remembering or keeping track of it. And you would be less captivated by the story.

Day OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 1111111

20 disagrees for showing your excitement about Alan Wake.

Your agree/disagree ratio of 5 agrees and 20 disagrees could be translated into the 360/PS3 fanboy ratio here on N4G.

Soda, stop being so butt-hurt

you are so lame

4Sh0w5862d ago

Nah, Pepto sounds like Soda stated an obvious ovbservation, whats lame about that.

Bereaver5862d ago

Obvious for what? If you look back at SKC's past posts, you can clearly see he's fanboy. And if Soda is "popin" up to save him, then it's easy to understand that he's "butt-hurt".

PeptoBismol sounds upset. Like usual.

Picking both Alan Wake and RDR up on the same night. Now the big question is which one do I play first. lol

clarkjudo5862d ago

Go with Alan Wake first. If your a person who has 85-90% of run and gun shooters genera on the shelf already. You might want to take a break.

FACTUAL evidence5862d ago

@clarkjudo
All Alan wake is, is; run to objective, cutscene, TAKEN appears, flash shoot, shoot, rinse and repeat. Nothing spectacular...not even trying to burst bubbles or anything...you'll see when you get it. Not a very bad game, but if you're sick of shooters in general AW definitely isn't for you atm.

@FordGTGuy
I would play Alan Wake first, It's about a good 7-8 hours. It's a pretty linear game but the scale of the levels are amazing. It sort of makes it feel as if it's a sandbox a little, but nowhere near it.
So If i were you, have fun with AW for a day and a half, you'll beat it, then move on to RDR. I'm sure RDR has around 25-30 hours of gameplay. So save that chunk for last, or you'll probably never would get to AW without another new release interfering.

Absolut_Turkey5862d ago (Edited 5862d ago )

@clarkjudo: You're kidding right? First off, Red Dead Redemption is NOT a "run and gun" game, it's an open-world Western "sandbox" type game. If anything, Alan Wake IS a "run and gun", except now you have a flashlight. And second of all, I think we can all agree that Red Dead Redemption is going to be a bigger hit than Alan Wake. In fact I'll go so far as to say I think RDR will outsell AW on the 360.

OT: Alan Wake is going to be a good game, but people really shouldn't overhype it. And no, it won't be GOTY. Sorry.

lowcarb5862d ago

Neither game is a run and gun but I might go with Alan for a good 3 hours and then switch to RDR for a good 3. Wake is said to be 8 to 16 hours plus you get episodic content upon release which make s it even longer.

Looked at the score and then looked at the site ...lol

aviator1895862d ago (Edited 5862d ago )

Well, this xbox-centric website isn't the only site that has given the game a great score. There are other ones, you know.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8772d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg184d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

Tacoboto771d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia772d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger772d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie772d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos772d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie772d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh771d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
