PushSquare: "LittleBigPlanet 2's a video game. Media Molecule has insisted on telling us that much. Everything else we know by now, we probably shouldn't. The embargo lifts tomorrow. Already people are forming opinions about the game though: generally I'm gauging a sense of unprecedented excitement, optimism a the potential fixes for common problems, and irritation. Judging by what we've actually seen of LittleBigPlanet 2, it strikes us that Media Molecule may well face the problem so many before have encountered: how do you justify your extension to Joe Bloggs?"

Sammy: "Sony disastrously and disgracefully shuttered Texas-based fan favourite Bluepoint yesterday. The long-time PS Studios partner never got a chance to ship a game under its new parent company.
This news hit me particularly hard because I believe it reflects the erosion of once-great PlayStation management that I think we’ve all been feeling for quite some time."
How was this allowed to happen? A studio know for excellent remakes and remasters were put on a GOW live service game? Something nobody wanted? There are so many other, more interesting projects, for me they were the prime studio who should have remastered or remade Bloodborne, what an absolute waste, I'm really annoyed about this.
Hulst should have followed Jim Ryan out the door, especially after his failed concord brainchild, execs really do only fail upwards.
It does concern me that they think closing amazing studios like Bluepoint and Japan Studios is smart.
I'm honestly surprised Media Molecule is still around. They put out what 1 game in the past 10+ years? I personally wasn't interested in Dreams, so they have been a wash for me since the PS3 era. Are they working on a new game? What are they doing?
Frustrating news, for sure. Hulst is on a major losing streak. Baffling decisions....
They could of let them do a Remakes of Sly, Jak and Daxter maybe the old Killzone games. Ported Demon Souls to other platforms. Steady revenue for growth becoming a 70 team to 100+ eventually.
As a PS Fan and someone that looks to new exsperiences not rehashing old ones I can feel for the devs but it does not move the needle as far as getting new video games.

A job listing published by the UK studio reveals that its next project will be another entirely new IP.
Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.

IGN writes: "Media Molecule has said the layoffs at the Sony-owned studio have affected plans for ongoing community and curation support in Dreams."
How self sustained can DREAM be when it's basically stuck on PS4? I don't think it's even gotten a PS5 upgrade. Ending support for what is essentially a game making engine is basically death. SONY did DREAMS dirty.
You don't, There will always be people who feel they've been disappointed.
The only thing MM can do (IMO) Is do their best, And by what I've read they've done a good job.
I fully trust in Media Molecule because:
1) They have a passion for the business
2) They have a passion towards the "Play. Create. Share" Philosophy
3) They have a virtually limitless amount of money
4) They have a virtually limitless amount of freedom
5) They have Sony, and thus #3 and #4 become possible
They are restricted only by their technical knowledge and their imagination.
"Are ten new fighters, new stages and a reworked online mode really not representative of enough value to bring you to a whole new product?"
LittleBigPlanet 2 is nowhere like this. Sony is not Capcom and I sincerely believe Mm would never gimp their project. See above reasons why.
Honestly as of now LBP 2 looks like an expansion pack to me, only because I havent seen it in action. I only created one thing on LBP and it was a hassle to do so seeing all these features for LBP 2 such as microchips, sack bots, all of that looks complicated, but seeing the levels people have created in LBP I trust the community will do wonders with these new tools and that is good enough of a reason for me to buy it.
I don't care I'm buying it. All I want now is some video footage to drool over.
never, ever , ever ,ever did I say ever?, doubt a Sony First party Developper.
