Finally something new about the game. I really hope this game makes it through 2010!

ProjectVulcan5845d ago (Edited 5845d ago )

There is a worry here. Intel purchase companies for the plain reasons of advancing their semi conductor business. Intel purchased this on the back of their highly hyped first announcement several years ago, codenamed larrabee. It seemed reasonably likely the game was being built to show off the ability of this touted graphics part, along with their stated intention of creating a game engine to match their havok physics engine. Problem is, larrabee went down the drain 5 months ago and will not be seeing the light of day for consumers.

The question is of course, what sort of knock on effect might this have on project offset? Intel are not really a software company and not a videogame publisher, so what will their intentions be for this project now they have little interest in the near future with regards consumer graphics? Forums closed, community dead....

I plan to skip the consoles for this release. P.C all the way here.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5846d ago (Edited 5846d ago )

Everyone knows PC is the right choice. And if this game will use DX10 or 11. More reason I don't even look the console version.

Pandamobile5845d ago (Edited 5845d ago )

There are no console versions.

They were scrapped when Intel bought the dev team. Now they've got a virtually unlimited budget from Intel to push gaming technology further than it's ever been before and to avoid constraints such as developing on 4 and 5 year old technology (AKA the 360 and PS3)

It was originally a PC/360 game back before Offset Software was aquired by Intel. I don't remember any mention of a PS3 version.

webeblazing5845d ago

yeeeaaa!!!
imma build me a new pc when this come out i thought we might see something new after the i9 came out

hoops5845d ago

Hmmm. Both the Xbox360 and the PS3 have 4-5 year old tech inside. The RSX supports this fully. Itd nothing more then a 7800GTX...which is 2005...That's 5 years old.

waterboy5845d ago

the rsx is of no concern the ps3 would be doing cg ingame without the rsx at all in the hands of a film director no pc can do that

hoops5845d ago (Edited 5845d ago )

The RSX IS based on the Nvidia Geforce 7 technology. Look it up brainchild. The 7800GTX to be precise. That's 4-5 years old technology pal. A $100 budget GPU today outperforms it and has more features....BUT KEEP TELLING YOURSELF you know more about this than I do.

You must be on crack or another 12 year old grade school child allowed to come on the internet.

What do you think they use for all those pixar, Avatar Movies you dolt? You think they use a PS3 to render advanced CGI for films like Avatar, Iron Man 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Star Wars Revenge of the Sith? They use PC's.
A console with only 512megs of total memory and a 5 year old GPU that does not support TRUE HDR+FSAA at flaoting points above 16 at frame rates that are acceptable cannot even render most of its games at 1080p.Dude. You made me laugh with that post. Thank you. I needed a great laugh today. A 4 year old CPU from intel is more powerful then the entire PS3. Please lets not even mention the TRUE quad core or six core CPU's out now or in the past year or so.
The PS3 doing CGI movies like in film.LOL.Please call me when ILM decides to use a PS3 to render the next Star Wars film or when James Cameron calls Sony to use PS3 software tools and the PS3 for Avatr 2
LOL
Man your foolish.
Btw. If the PS3 was SOOO powerful, more powerful than a PC as you claim...why is it that the PS3 can only render less than 1% of its games at TRUE 1080P with 4xMSAA running REAL HDR and not NAO32? lETS NOT EVEN MENTION 60FPS.
Almost ALL PC's that are $800 off the shelf or built will run 95% of games at 1080p with 4xAA AT 40FPS or better. The PS3 and Xbox360 CAN NOT MAKE THAT CLAIMM AT ALL.

waterboy5845d ago

the ps3 could do that stuff as said by digi guys a high end cg developer these games you speak of that dont do 1080p arent being made by cg developers at all and are using the rsx your speaking of to make the visuals, your right though those movies are DESIGNED on pc not made on the weakling gpus you wack pc fans tout on the many internet sites more like the super 5000 plus dollar AMD processors with 100s of processors running in the background for extra processing power, thats called a render farm, and thats still not saying that its gonna outdue ps3, youll see some more of what ps3 can do in e3 2010, ps3 hardware is 4 years old, but built ahead of its time, and if you dont see why then your in denial pcs are so powerful yet cant run the original crysis footage from e3 2006 in realtime what a pity after 4 years, on 4 year old hardware that beats current day pc hardware sad shame

Top Cancelled Games That Should Be Remade For The PS4

"You know, it’s no secret that many games have been cancelled in the past. Some of those games had the potential to be a AAA experience but for some reason or the other, those ideas were thrown out. That is the way the industry works, because after all it’s a business."

We all know if The Getaway 3 ever had to exist it would've been to GTA-ish seeing thats what fans would've wanted.

Nine_Thousaaandd4417d ago

Man, would be awesome to see The Getaway and Star Wars 1313 on PS4. Though, BloodRayne didn't make the list, it was a lot of fun too...would like to see it on PS4 as well!

I forgot all about Project offset, but I always knew PO would never come out on the PS3 or X360. PO appeared to be beyond both systems capabilities at the the time. Fractiv LLC is the name of the company that made PO demo, they actually licensed their game engine for the game Firefall. I do think Sony should make Getaway 3 for the PS4, thought the demo looked pretty nice and GW2 was decent but not great back in the day.

Belasco4417d ago

Project Offset!! Thank you, I have been trying to remember the name of that one, I was so excited about it but it just vanished.

hollabox4417d ago (Edited 4417d ago )

I think technology now is capable of rendering Project Offset. In 2006 no way graphics processors had the rendering grunt to run this vaporware demo at HDTV resolution with AA. Look at Crysis, took about 4 years before single graphics cards could render that Crysis at max settings around 60 FPS.

My old Nvidia GTX 670 was the first graphics card I own that could rendering Crysis at 60 FPS with AA 2012. In 2010 my AMD 6970 got close, around 50 FPS without AA max settings.
