IGN: Alan Wake Review

Last time IGN played a finished Remedy game Max Payne and Mona Sax were machine-gunning their way through hoodlums while exchanging whiskey-soaked comments dripping with an overblown Raymond Chandler wit. That was 2003, and in the years since the Finnish studio that gave us bullet time has been cobbling together Alan Wake. It moves away from the crime rings and nighttime streets of New York City to a fictional town called Bright Falls in the mountainous Pacific Northwest with great results.

Cant wait for this game!

BTW im lovin the new site

darkmurder5849d ago

Even though some have given it a lower score can't wait for this!

topdawg1225849d ago

This game looks pretty good, worthy of a rent I think from looking at other reviews.

Danteh5849d ago

wow the new site is quite cool but confusing at first...

anyways many thing have passed this days lol, mainly the Alan Wake "flop" (84 Meta) and the ModNation Racers win

Alan Wake seems to be interesting but far from the perfect game everyone talked about and of course far from GOWIII's graphix ^^

hay5849d ago

It's pretty unique game with great mood. It's definitely worth to get it.
Put the fanboyism aside and enjoy. I know you want it...

I was expecting a higher score from this game, disappointed :(

Lawrst5849d ago

Higher than a 9/10? Really? a 9 out of 10 is a great score for any game.

osamaq5849d ago (Edited 5849d ago )

other sites is giving it less like gametrailers , IGN UK , 1up and so on
I trust gamespot the most in reviews I think will wait for their review

PshycoNinja5849d ago

That didn't take long. The new sites been up for less than an hour and people are already arguing about review scores. ^_^

badz1495849d ago

were you expecting less?

raWfodog5849d ago (Edited 5849d ago )

A 7 is even a 'respectable' score for a game. Anything higher than that is just icing...

DeleteThisxx5849d ago

And good review, I'm definitely gonna rent this and purchase it later on when the price is reasonable. Too many other great games coming out that offer way more replayability.

Crusade5849d ago

Conviction scored higher than this game? Weird.

PS360PCROCKS5849d ago

weird site design haha...I like it though! :-D Oh and Alan wake is getting "ok" scores, darn I'm a lil dissappointed.

kissmeimgreek5849d ago

I like it too! kinda feels retro and simlple. With a nice bubbly feel.

Marquis_de_Sade5849d ago

It currently sits at 84 on metacritic, hardly "ok", more "good" if you ask me.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8755d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg167d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

Tacoboto754d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia755d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger755d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie755d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos755d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie755d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh755d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
