The first game, which I would personally argue is one of the most underrated games of this generation, was generally well received by the gaming media but largely ignored by the gaming public. The sales were obviously good enough to warrant a sequel and Capcom is more than happy to deliver. Lost Planet 2 is hitting the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next month, but lucky Xbox owners have been participating in a beta test of the multiplayer portion of the game for a few weeks now. I have been able to put some time into the multiplayer beta test over the past week and think that Capcom may be onto something with the new game."
