IGN's Mass Effect Hands-on

During a behind closed doors press conference in Santa Monica during this year's E3, BioWare's Greg Zeschuk and Casey Hudson gave IGN a detailed look at how Mass Effect is progressing, as well as the opportunity for them to get their hands on the highly anticipated game for the first time. After the half hour meeting, those present were so excited about the game they had a hard time concentrating on the next game's demo. Although there is still room for improvement in smoothing out the game, Mass Effect has once again vaulted to the top of IGN's most wanted list for 2007.

I hope the 65nm 360 gets here before this game drops. If so, that's when I'll pick up the "Green" Ring of "Life", and then all you XBOTS can have the privilege of playing with Bill to the "G" Gates....HAHAHHHAHA

4 Disk set anyone?...hahahaha

THC PRITCHARD6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

This Game looks Crap

I saw the 15 min Demo

Crap. Boring.

Odion Go and take a bath you stink

Captain Tuttle6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

Nice edit Pritchard

Odion6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

Prit your a complete moron, Bioware already said your looking at 25-30 hours for the main story and around 40-50 if you do the side quests, ya that sure seems short to me

ShiftyLookingCow6811d ago

THC PRITCHARD, I wish you were a real PS3 fanboy than a fanatic troll. At least then you would be enjoying all the PS3 content now out instead of vomiting sh!tty comments about a great game on a console you don't want. You shouldn't be here. I wouldnt have bought 360 if not for this game and its my personal favorite this year.

looks amazing and plays amazing. Fix those little problems and we are looking at game of the year.

Captain Tuttle6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

But I'm really glad they're taking their time with this one. They're starting a whole new franchise and this is what the gaming industry desperately needs today. Too many Halo 3's and RE5's and Killzone 2's.

riqued6811d ago

I really wanted to play this game, but it's kind of an Oblivion sci-fi.
There is nothing completely original today...

PS360PCROCKS6811d ago

what? its the same genre, not the same game, your ridiculous

Daxx6811d ago

Yeah man, Oblivion and Mass Effect may be RPGS but other than that they are two completely different games.

riqued6811d ago

I know they are different, I am just trying to say that it follows the same concept of open world.

And that "Halo 3's and RE5's and Killzone 2's." are everywhere today, nothing is completely original...

That doesn't mean the game is bad, this is one game I really like on the 360.

PS360PCROCKS6811d ago

man nothing ever will be...every game is classified into a genre and so everything is always going to be copied. Originality is how you look at it though...I personally think Bioshock is the most unique and amazing game I have ever seen...I think Alan Wake has a fantastic story, too human, Ratchet and clank is pretty original...theirs originality man, you just gotta find it.

M1am1U6811d ago

originality is a huge risk. That's why there's so many cookie-cutter crap games out there. People take an original concept that was done well and run it into the ground *cough* WWII games *cough*. I agree with you xbox360rocks, Bioshock is an extremely original premise, and I'd bet my bottom dollar we'll see some crappy spin-offs of that, too. Mass Effect might not be 100% original, but what will set it apart from other RPG's is how incredibly well done it is. I think that's why they're really taking their time with it. It will probably end up being one of the most well made games we've seen in a long time.

PS360PCROCKS6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

I hope that no one copies Bioshock as I would like to see them make a sequel and delve deeper into the realm they're creating, because it's not just a videogame, they're making it about life...and I totally agree about Mass Effect, I think it will be a very very good game.

Edit:: Gave ya'll bubbles...it's nice to find people who can have a conversation without insulting you or your intelligence

edit:: tuttle, thanks. Yeah I am definitely thinking the same as you...I think their doing good this gen so far personally

Captain Tuttle6811d ago (Edited 6811d ago )

I like shooters and RPG's. I'm just asking for new worlds, new characters, new visual styles. I'm looking forward to Halo 3 and MOHA but I need something fresh once in awhile. That's why I'm so excited about games like Mass Effect, Bioshock and Haze.

Edit: Good point Xbox360rocks...bubbles for everyone.

This game will be along side Halo 3 as 2007's best sellers with GTA4 and Madden. The haters need to kick it up an notch if they want to stop this.

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno118d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos118d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg118d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb118d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum118d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1013d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

anast1013d ago

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
