RIP Floppy Disk.

The days of installing Dos via Floppy, or installing Windows 3.1 seems like an ancient memory.

...terrabytes of this type of disc were sold over the years. I remember the Amiga use to format these discs to 880k, well before the PC formatted them to 1.4MB.

I must admit at one stage I would have had over 250 discs in my possession but I never thought of it as having over 250MB which back then (1990) was a huge amount of storage.

Ah well, with all your USBs, probably a good idea to abandon them, there's much better ways of storage these days.

I haven't even seen a floppy in at least a decade.

I use floppy's for my MSX2, it doesnt eat cd's, only floppy's,cartrdiges and tapes.

and nthere i was hoping for a floppy drive attachment for ps3 -_- LOL is this really a big issue?

What surprised me is that they sold 12 million floppy disks in 2009!

I thought we were waaay past using those things by now, unless everyone is using them for BIOS.

Good riddance. These floppy drives were a pain in my butt, always getting corrupted disk. But I will keep a floppy drive just incase for the future where something is needing a floppy drive. I wonder what ever happened to that super floppy disk that held like 120MB of information, and no I am not talking about the ZIP Drive which was larger, and only held 100MB. These disc were the same size as a standard floppy.

Later I learned to appreciate you. Floppy disk, you never hurt no one. (on purpose) You will be missed. (sorta of)

Some programs I use still have the floppy symbol for "Save File". I bet the youngsters are like "What the hell is that supposed to mean? Why did they draw the save button as a weird box?"

The floppy is iconic, I will be sad if the save button don't have the floppy picture anymore.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
