PSBeyond Red Dead Redemption Preview

"At the dawn of the 20th century, the American Wild West was getting tamed by industrialization. The rogue cowboys evolved into factory assemblymen, and the chaos of anarchy was starting to decline. Down in Mexico, a civil war was about to break out as the bandits, cowboys and outlaws of all kinds are making their last stand to keep their dwindling antiquated lifestyles. And the latest outlaw in Rockstar's new highly anticipated open world adventure is you. You name is John Marston, and you're here to kill Bill Williams."

A slow witted xbox 360 owner country boy desperately wanted to be a cowboy. For months he pleaded with a local rancher to take him on, until eventually the rancher agreed to give him a chance.

On the first day, the rancher showed him a rope. 'This' he said, 'is a lariat we use it to catch cows.'

'I see,' said the xbox 360 whippersnapper recruit, apparently taking everything in. 'And what do you use as bait?'

This game is a day one buy for me. It looks like Rockstar have addressed the issues of repetitive mission tedium from GTA4. They appear to have created a joyful toy-box for gamers to lose themselves in. Except hopefully on this occasion there seems plenty of things to do to keep the gamers entertained.

this would be a day one for me too if buying this would not mean the last day of my real life.
Between Just Cause 2 and RDR I would probably fail at feeding myself.
No can do /<switches to his second personality who buys games>

Presumably you can use fists...
And I know you can hunt mountain lions..

So does this mean there is finally a game where I can battle to the death with a mountain lion using nothing but my manly fists?

Fantastic.

Basil-Rathboner5853d ago

Thats a question i have been trying to seek an answer to as well.

About 2 days ago though i found out (cant for the life of me remember where i read it) that you can indeed use your fists.

The website even went onto say that some skirmishes can end up on the ground with the fisticuffs and grappling continuing UFC style.

Sorry HellsV and Sunshine that i cant throw any agrees or bubbles in your direction. I am using my PS3 browser and it wont let me.

This game seems almost too good to be true.

Saying that though, even if it fulfills even half of it's promises it should be an excellent game.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83105d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard106d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion139d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140139d ago (Edited 139d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
