you click the link, how do they get your account info?? Am I missing something? Does it hack into your browsers cookies and get the info from playstation.com? Or do you have to open the link on a PS3?

How can people be this dumb? I get spam messages from many of my "friends" so many damn times. I think it's time to put my friends list through a filter. Guh, even a couple of my actual friends who I hang out with were dumb enough to get their account phished on Xbox Live.

I got 2 of those PMs and I went to the site in the link in one of them. I did nothing there and closed it.

I read the article and deleted my card info and changed my password. I checked my bank and no unauthorised access has happened.

I live in Europe and the site dealt in Dollars and I don't think a Euro account can use Dollars.

people chill out the only way they get your info is if you

1. type in link

2. fill out ur psn info on their website (password, user ect).

If you didn't type anything in then don't worry, you should be fine.

I got one of these from my friends askin me to try it out. It's a good thing i dont jump at crap like that. This type of sh!t normally happens to greedy stupid people.

I suggest anyone with enough brain cells left in their head to send out a few msgs' to gullible friends explaining the scam so it stops as soon as possible. lets face it, not everyone is as involved as us when it comes to blatant phishing scams like this.

Sony's fault here is that it allows 3rd party websites to login using PSN id's. (myresistance.net, etc etc.) People may think this is the default method. However, if the login could boldly claim that the login info should only be used on PSN or playstation.com, there would be less of this problem (it would still happen)

you know the funny part is that i told my friends that this is not real. Honestly you would have to be a genius to come with a powerful alogrithm that would match SONY's PSN code generator.

I feel for those that have fallen into this trap.

You will randomly get a PSN message saying your eligible for $50 towards your PSN account. Then you have to reply to the message and give them your username and password. You have to be an idiot to fall for this.

I receive messages on psn all the time, and my response is as follows "thank you for sending me this utterly pointless message and maybe if i was a monkey who could type then I would respond, now I have a proposal for you... how about you send me you account details and sort code and in return I will add you to my friends list"

Only an idiot with no brain would repsond and this seems to be a kneejerk flame article in response to XBL's actual true hacking of Major Nelson's account, that is the huge difference actual hacking and spam email...Also on psn only last 4 digits show as CC details, are you saying that there is a keystroke device on ps3's browser that has captured these details, it will not happen.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
