this is the same game where you mine for hours to make some armor peice. With the possibility of losing everything you got on you if you happen to die right?

If it is, the only fun thing about was being able to trick people into going into that wilderness part, or wasteland?, and killing them =)

mt5859d ago

lol
i used to play it two years ago .
i got to level 32 then i got bored.
"this is the same game where you mine for hours to make some armor peice."
this could go with almost every MMORPG . and that is why i don't like them .

ZombieAutopsy5859d ago

last time i logged on they took out the wilderness and pretty much noob-a-fied everything even more

The_Beast5859d ago

i hope i still remeber the password

HolyOrangeCows5859d ago

I loved tricking noobs. I'd tell them that if they gave me their stuff, I could turn it into more powerful items because I was a wizard.

Then I would run, laugh, and sell their crap for 10 coins.

darkmurder5859d ago

ROFL scamming ppl on runescape made the game, Id say id sell them an account level 101 if they gave me their rune stuff, they did it and then I did the joyjump action and ran off bahaha never got banned.

BannedForNineYears5859d ago

Rofl, I used to play Runescape when I was like, 10.
I got to level 60, non-member.
The game sucks!!!!!!! DON'T FREAKING PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S THE FREAKING WORST JAVA GAME ON THIS PLANET!
I'm serious.
Edit: And the biggest Runescape update : Going "HD"... =|

Government Cheese5859d ago

@Harry

I'm pretty sure from a technical standpoint, Runescape is probably the BEST Java game on the planet.

MagicAccent5859d ago

And now your're what? Eleven?
It's a JAVA game, and a pretty damn good looking one at that.

BannedForNineYears5858d ago

Good one. -_-
Anyway, you wanna see a technically impressive Java game? Look up Minecraft.
The infdev version is an infinite map....INFINITE! You can walk in one direction forever. :|

90% of the game is doing repeated tasks to level your character. Then you do a few quests and dungeons before going back to leveling your mining.

I miss when runescape was fun, before they took out the wild and went communist with the in-game economy

used to be fun, I had a level 78 main quit after the wildy was took out, still log in occasionally to have fun chopping wood, and other fun skills, had 15Mil as well, those were good times, now it's just filled with little kids and a few people clinging on to what it once was, still login for the holiday events if I ever decide to start playing again, took it back up for about a week not too long ago and they have fixed it quite a bit since their new CEO plays the game as well, in which he probably realized they ruint their own game.

UK Court Rules Stealing RuneScape Gold Is Criminal Theft in Case That Could Have Wider Repercussions

A UK court has ruled that the unauthorized stealing of in-game currency can be legally classified as criminal theft.

Eonjay97d ago

IGN is a fraudulent clik bait farm pretending to be a news organization.

"that the unauthorized stealing of"
...You know as opposed to the "authorized steal of" personal data sites like IGN take part in.

But yes it is both IGNorant and morally questionable to imply that there is such a thing as authorized stealing.

z2g96d ago

IGN isn't a "news organization". it's a magazine/content producer that generates revenue on ads and services. We aren't talking about the AP Wire, Reuters, etc. I suggest you adjust your expectations of what you think you are going to get from an industry content creator. this is entertainment, not geopolitics. furthermore, the story you are commenting on is in fact true and thats not IGNs fault. work out those issues. ;)

bionicstar95d ago

IGN is a gaming news site just because it covers entertainment doesn't make them a content creator.

Digital currency should be considered as legitimate as actual money. You buy it with real money, and has an equal exchange. So I fully agree with this and anything else that favours the consumer when it comes to digital currency in games.

OMGitzThatGuy95d ago

Runescape gold cant be bought directly with real money, it is only used to buy items in game, not microtransactions, but there is sort of a time value to it

Michiel198995d ago

no it has no actual exchange value, because you can only put money into it. The only actual exchange value it gets is through 3rd party gold seller who attach an amount of dollars to it and they're the only ones who get the luxury of actually being able to "exchange". Unless Jaggex is just selling raw gold, then I'm wrong.

OMGitzThatGuy95d ago

Jagex did add a safe form of gold buying a while ago as you can know buy "bonds" with real money that can be exchanged for 14 days of membership or about 15m gold (current price) in the GE.
