Blue Toad Murder Files is a game that is intent on letting you know that you aren't as smart or clever as you may think you are. Following the general concept of the Professor Layton series on the Nintendo DS, you are cast in the role of a detective from the esteemed "Blue Toad Detective Agency" as you make your way about town solving riddles and puzzles in order to solve a bigger mystery. The game is in good hands as far as puzzles go; Relentless Software, known for the Buzz! series, knows how to make a good puzzle game. Can this episodic venture be another home run hit for the developer?

Pocket Gamer: Blue Toad Murder Files doesn't feel like a port of a PS3 game. It feels like a title that's found its rightful home after a couple of years of wandering. The simple gameplay translates perfectly to the touchscreen of your iOS device, and the gentle pace is perfect for an evening spent reclining on the sofa.
It's by no means a perfect game, and there are some issues with load times in particular with this version, but if you're looking for a series of interconnected mini-games held together by comedy stereotypes then you're in for something of a treat.

Relentless Software has announced that Episode 1 of Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle is now available for free on the PlayStation Store in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
