As with most developers, the Borderlands creator has been using downloadable content to extend the shelf life of its game with a mixture of extra quests and new modes. What's more unique, however, is the way that expansions like The Zombie Island Of Dr Ned and The Secret Armory Of General Knoxx have revealed a team experimenting with core elements of their own design: exploring new directions to take the fiction in, and even replacing the original ending. We sat down with Randy Pitchford, Gearbox's president and CEO, to uncover the strategy – or lack of it – behind this approach, and why Borderlands has been a "renaissance" for his company.

So the movie cost 155 million to produce and another 30 million dollars to promote . Borderlands movie brought in around 31 million worldwide . So basically, the Borderlands movie was a 154 million commercial for Borderlands video game franchise.
