My list is nice and neat:
1. MGS1
2. MGS2
3. MGS3
4. MGS4
Haven't played any others. 4 was the first one I didn't finish and the beginning of the gulf between how much I enjoyed playing them and how much everybody else seemed to like them.
So everyone said at the time but I played about two thirds of it and didn't enjoy much of it. I loved MGS1, it was mind blowing. Maybe I'll revisit 4 some day, pretty much done with the series now though.

“War has changed,” is what Solid Snake, the main character in Metal Gear Solid uttered in the opening of MGS4: Guns of The Patriots. But it’s not only “war” that has changed, apparently, the times have changed too.
It never was. Not really. MS2 was on Xbox. MS3 is now on the Ds3. It started in the 80's on the MSX and then the Nes. Get over it guys.
The main games have. Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots.
None of the major titles appeared on other systems so the author has a point.
With how much they made a point of expressing IN MGS4 that they loved the PS3, I`d expect it to atleast get another exclusive maybe MGS6. Kojima knows what`s up.

MGS:PW is very deep and fun game guys. Dont sleep on that one.
while i do agree that the Franchise has been on allot of platforms
but you cant deny that the PS1 was the console that the franchise actually got known/popular on
it's never been a play-station exclusive franchise it's just that it's first big game appeared on PS and all the rest were on PlayStation platforms(except the remake)while the other platforms just got the odd game here and there so it's perceived as one.
Actually, the only thing with MGS and Playstation is that everygame in the main series will be in a PS console. Even the early two games from MSX come to PS. This don't mean through MG will only appear on PS consoles and handhelds... We have seen MG in MSX, NES, GC, Xbox, PC and, soon to be, Xbox 360 and 3DS.
If they start making MGS5 - or 6, I don't if they'll consider Peace Walker the 5th or not - and announce it not coming to a PS console, then I will start to worry.
PlayStation is still the preferred console for Kojima. Stop trying to downplay that.
And like I said before, those are ports. Second-hand games, in a way.
And if you want the WHOLE MGS series, you can only get it with PlayStation. It's got all the games!
MGS has been on other consoles before.
But if you want the ENTIRE MGS experience, you just go to where it's at. On the Playstation consoles.
And MGS4 is STILL only on the PS3.
So I don't get the argument.
You want Halo? Go get an Xbox.
You want Mario? Go after the Nintendo consoles.
is Mario/Halo are first party when they were created. Konami is still a 3rd-party studio so nothing surprises me anymore.

Halo started on the mac and then went to PC. It wasn't first party when it was created.

Real franchise is still a PS3 exclusive. Side games are not and I'm happy with it. Every player should be able to play a MGS title. Sure they won't be as good as the real ones but it'll be better than nothing.
but I just recently played (almost finished) MGS4. I bought it when i first got my ps3 like 2 yrs ago, i got mgs4 and mlb the show as my first two games, and I just now got around to actually playing it. I got stuck in that part in the very beginning where you gotta climb thru a busted up building, got frustrated, and didn't pick up again until last month....let me just say, MGS4 has to be one of my top 5 games of all time and I have been playin video games since baseball on Atari 2600. If anyone here can play it, do that, buy a ps3 for that game, its that good!! I can't wait to see how it ends, though i will be sad to see it end. The story is so gripping....just a fuking masterpiece.

The NES port is what happens when Kojima isn't involved. Butchered port, play the MSX originals either in emulation or disc 2 of Subsistence.
Nope. Metal Gear was started on MSX not Nintendo. And MSX was partially developed by Sony.
What utter trash. Answer: no. Never was, never will be. Even if you ignore the original Metal Gear games on NES and MSX, Snake has been on GameCube, Xbox, Wii (in Smash Bros), and will be on 3DS. The only Metal Gear game that is so far exclusive to Playstation is MGS4.
Hell, even if we go all Sony fanboy and ignore all them like you have, and indeed that all the other MGS games were on PS1 and PS2 and NOT PS3, there's still Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSP - so even on current Sony consoles, Metal Gear is not exclusive to PS3.

The main MGS saga was directed in full essence by Kojima and those are PlayStation exclusives.
Sony got the REAL Metal Gear Solid games but now since the SOLID saga as conclued in MGS4... now the RISING saga will unleash a all new saga probably.
Nooooo damnit. You realize he's worked on tons of franchises, right? He's not going to announce another MGS game when Rising is right around the corner. Only Activision would do something like that.
although there are many versions of the MGS games. the story that started on the MSX and went to the PS# is still exclusive to the PS brand. ya there was MGS2 on the xbox but it never really took off like it did on the PS.thats why you have MGSR on the 360/PS3 because its a totally new story that has nothing to do with Snake and his story.

I've only played mgs 1 and 4 (still think mgs1 is one of the best games of mgs series - the mgs4 one was ...GARBAGE!)
i got bored after 20 minutes of mgs 4....it was too much shi* with he grey color and 10 hours of stuff of cut scenes like that i just didnt like it.
but my point is from a stealth perspective, splinter cell got all those cool stuff like night vision, and peaking trough keyholes....
it just makes use of darkness - which isnt the case in mgs.
