How Mega Man 11 Can Top Its Predecessors

Back in 200X, Capcom released Mega Man 9, a retro throwback to the original Mega Man series that felt and looked like a 8-bit NES game. Last month, Capcom released Mega Man 10, another entry which fixed some of the issues from Mega Man 9 but still lacked in certain areas. With the runaway success of both titles, it's not farfetched to imagine Capcom might be planning Mega Man 11 sometime in the near future. Here are a few things that Capcom should consider when developing their new title

If they could make it even better, oh man, that would be a seriously sweet game!

I still haven't played MM10, gotta get on that..

Selyah5890d ago

The previous games were pretty damn good anyway.

reaferfore205890d ago

They should bring back the cartoony graphics from MM8. That was by far one of my favorites in the series. The whole retro 8-bit look is cool and all, but not cool enough to get me to buy the game. I still play MM8 to this day on my PS3... and I still can't beat the last level after all these years!!!

Megaman 11 is actually Megaman X+ until Megaman X7 when it went 3D. Then after the 3D version it became that weird Megaman game in which he supposedly went in some sort of time capsule and got a blade and was awoken by some sh*t. I think it came out on GBA first or was it the DS???

Megaman X4, X5, and X6 were the best. Fast paced action with Zero.

How Mega Man 11 Can Top Its Predecessors: Capcom gives us a 2D HD Megaman instead of this garbage 8-bit rehash profit maximizing scheme disguised as nostalgia-love.

I'm probably the biggest fan of MM on this site. I have every MM game from the Nes, Snes, PSX, the collection on PS2, remakes on PsP and all the games on the Gameboy. This includes the X, Legends and regular blue bomber series and I'm on the fence about buying the MMzero and MMzx on DS and GBA.

And the truth is that I do not like the classic series that much anymore because all of them play and look exactly the same. Playing MM 2 3 4 5 9 10 and 2 3 4 5 from the GameBoy it's like playing the same game 10 times and with basically the same story repeating itself over and over again. Its gameplay it's so slow too... MM8 was my favorite and I could play any game from the X series over and over again because it is so fast paced and cool. The same with Legends because of the customizations but for the love of GOD PLEASE stop with the retro games! I just bought MM 9 and 10 to support the series hoping that a new MMX, Legends or regular MM ala MM8 will be announced someday but Capcom's so cheap. =(

Will certainly be interesting to see what they do this time round.

mephman5890d ago

Well, as long as they don't have another Sheep Man, it'll be a step in the right direction. :p

jammers5890d ago

Well, they have Screw Man, So what's next?

jammers5890d ago

Is it still ok to be insanely hard? That was always a big turn off for me. But fans of the series love that i guess. Masochists.

xshadowtonx5890d ago

Capcom needs to stop. Mega Man X4 was my favorite out of the whole sires >_>

Simon_Brezhnev5890d ago

yeah i loved x, x2, x3, and x4. Zero is way better then megaman :). Took more skill to play with.

ThanatosDMC5890d ago

I completely agree with you two. But i hope Capcom releases Legends 1 and 2 on the PSN. I'll buy it immediately!

GigaGaia5890d ago (Edited 5890d ago )

I want them to release Megaman X9.

But with Snes/PS1 graphics like X to X6. I didn't like X7 (X8 was ok, but not as good as X1-X6)

Alex_Mexico5889d ago

X7 and X8 are a complete disaster and I wish Ccapcom could out-canon them.

Also, X5 and X6 were mediocre at best (X5 was by far worse even). The only truly GREAT Megaman X game for me is X1 and maybe X4.

With that said I'd prefer a Megaman X9 with SNES graphics and music over a PS1 look easily.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle22d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg28d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree28d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai27d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
