Incredibly the physical attributes of its heroine, Samus, have been kept mostly hidden until now; top-notch action-oriented sci-fi gameplay proving the only thing necessary to woo fans. Although Samus' womanly charms are brought to the fore to elevate the marketing potential (we guess) for Metroid Other M, it is the gameplay that has left us smitten once again."

With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty coming soon, it's time to look back at the developer's greatest triumphs...and one oddball favorite.

Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime reflects on Metroid: Other M and his initial high hopes for the game.
Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."
Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.
Playing the Metroid Prime Trilogy right now. This game is looking awesome. :)
I'm a huge Prime Trilogy/Retro Studios fanboy...but this is the game I've been waiting for since 1994. It's the Super Metroid style translated into 3D (with camera angles that still suggest the old school 2D style of play). The GBA games were fantastic, but I've been waiting for a home console version to push the R&D1-style games forward. And if it's 30+ hours? Big time win.
(That said...there appears to be some iffy fact checking on this one. Every other outlet says Samus can only look around/pivot on the spot in first person, not dodge. And yes, Team Ninja is probably the biggest compliment to Project M in sheer size, but the cut scenes are being done by D-Rockets. If Samus looks "slightly sultry" in the scenes, that's because D-Rockets made her look that way...most likely after getting the go-ahead from Sakamoto-san. Anyone who has unlocked the GBA galleries knows that he's not prudish about Samus' looks.)
