It's inevitable, I suppose; when you're dealing with what amounts to a legendary game, any sequel is just going to have large shoes to fill. In the case of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, the cult import hit that led Nintendo to sanction the creation of a magnificent American reincarnation in Elite Beat Agents, the shoes were quite large indeed.

Nintendo should have a DS Imports section akin to Sony's PS1 Imports, and titles like Ouendan 2, Soma Bringer, Jump Ultimate Stars and Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland should be in it.

"We all love videogame music very much, but that’s not to say that licensed music is a detriment to a player’s experience.
In fact, when appropriately used within a game, it can be one of the most standout things someone will take away from playing it. Just ask anybody who’s played the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who didn’t remember the iconic inclusion of “Superman” by Goldfinger, or perhaps even “Jerry Was a Racecar Driver” by Primus.
Likewise, games like Brütal Legend can be seen utilizing licensed music during specific cutscenes to heighten the intensity of a scene, like using the triumphant “One Shot at Glory” by Judas Priest when kicking off the game’s first wide-scale Stage Battle."

Chris Buffa (Modojo): Earlier this week, Nintendo crushed the hopes and dreams of an untold number of fans when it shut the door on bringing Japanese Wii games The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles and Pandora's Tower to the U.S. This, despite an impressive grassroots effort to convince the publisher otherwise.
It won't be smart when fans like myself who have supported Nintendo for 20 years decide not to buy a Wii U. No use getting another Nintendo console when I know they aren't even going to bother releasing half the games that I want to buy.
Smart businesses understand that sometimes you take a short-term loss for a long-term gain. Even if Nintendo only broke even localizing those titles - even if they *lost* money - they would make it up in the long-term from all the other purchases people like myself make. By abandoning us, they may save a few bucks now, but they lose thousands down the road.
I've helped a friend (loyal nintendo fan, owned almost all of Nintendo hardware, mostly her older brother's influence. Refuse to own anything but Nintendo stuff) softmod her Wii because Nintendo wasn't localizing some game. I think it was a Doroumon game or something like that. I forgot what but anyway, she didn't want to get it mod but didn't have much a choice. First the Wii is region lock and second it wasn't coming to the US. Now that is modded, she has been less incline to buy more games or rather fewer than before.
Point is, keep it up Nintendo, eventually down the line you will continue to lose support whether it's to exposure of piracy/modding because you refuse to localize or lack of support towards hardcore audience.
I currently see no reason to own Wii U as they have failed to prove that they will cater the hardcore audience and support it. First, the games planned to be released from third party are old titles. Second, they show little initiative to support anything else but first party titles.
Continue down this road, and the already small loyal fanbase will continue to shrink.
There are very few games that gather my interest in the nintendo lineup, but since the put a picture of mother 3 i peaked an interest. Earthbound was & still is one of my all time favorite games. I have played & beaten it litterally 30+ times. I finally sold my cartrige copy on ebay a couple months ago for $100 i downloaded the ROM version & play it. Had nintendo finally ported mother 3 to even the wii i might entertain the idea of buying one simply to play that & zelda. If nintendo talks of earthbound 2 or mother 4 for the wii u i might actually consider it, but other than that i have zero interest in anything to do with nintendo.
Yeah, real smart forcing others to softmod their Wiis just to play the games we want in America that are ALREADY in English...
I am not amused with the Wii U at all. I was a victim of the Wii craze and feel like an idiot for buying it. So few games for adults and even the ones for kids are only mildly interesting.
The Wii U as a console seems like a slap in the face to those of us with a Wii sized paperweight on our entertainment units. In the coverage for the system you see people using the Wii-mote yet somehow, I have a sneaky feeling we'll be buying a whole new Wii-mote one b/c the ones we have won't be compatible with the Wii U system. I feel used and abused.
Nintendo, you disappoint me.
