The Sonic Cycle: So Strong, Still Unbroken

Sega has a new Sonic the Hedgehog game coming out, but you probably know this since Extra Guy extensively covered it since its announcement. Much to the delight of those who enjoy the Genesis classics, it's a 2D sidescroller. The reveal was back in February, and hopes for the game were high. Sega was teasing its fans beforehand, saying things like "Remember: It's all about momentum." or "Speed is something that is not given; but rather earned through dedication.

Speed is not found by simply pushing a boost button, but by building momentum." Those sick of the speed-first focus of recent Sonic titles were built to fever pitch. The skeptics however, saw it differently, saying it was merely stage one of the infamous Sonic Cycle.

Sonic Cycle doesn;t qualify here. those leaks are from PartnerNet, a site for games still in development.

Key word here being "Development", which means "Not Finished", and could still be tweaked between now and June/July.

I'm not getting my hopes to high for this. I feel like I should change my avatar because I really have no plans on buying this.

I'm actually looking forward to playing this game. The last Sonic game I played was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle fot the GC and I loved that game. Hopefully going with the classic sonic gameplay will work for this title. Megaman 10 pulled it off even while keeping the retro look so hopefully Sega can do what Capcom did and pull it off with this one.

Sonic’s Episodic Adventures – The History of Sonic the Hedgehog 4

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was something many wanted to see for a very long time. Continuing the story from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, many had lofty expectations for this title. When it finally released, many were split on the project. From it’s episodic nature, different feeling controls and changes that felt strange to fans of Sonic’s classic adventures, Sonic 4 Episode I and II were divisive games to say the least.

I feel like if they could keep improving on the Sonic 4 physics, formula and level design they could have gone from the good Sonic 4 Ep II to something genuinely great for Sonic 4 Ep III.

Strange games. Definitely shouldn't have been "Sonic 4". Seeing as it re-used alot of ideas, level themes enemies and bosses etc, it really should have been called "Sonic Megamix" or something and the levels should have been named after the originals. This would have given SEGA a chance to see what fans reaction was to this style of game, before going in for "proper" Sonic 4. Sonic Mania feels far more "Sonic 4" than the actual Sonic 4 does haha
