Xbox 360 Needs Mass Effect 2 Much More Than PS3

Ironstar writes;"Despite all the speculation that EA may eventually release Mass Effect 2 on PlayStation 3 it hasn't happened. Mass Effect 2 is the best RPG I've played in years hands down. It's quite shameful since gamers without an Xbox 360 or PC can't enjoy Mass Effect 2; Bioware's epic Sci-Fi RPG may potentially be "Game of the Year"."

Kinda makes sense since the first two were on the xbox

evrfighter5893d ago

lol this title surely doesn't reek of bitterness.

Nicholas Cage5893d ago

do i want it? yea? do i own a 360? no, am i pissed? no. i havea ps3 it has its own games...xbox360 has halo3, we have resistance. xbox360 has mass effect 2, we have demons souls (goty)

iFLOWLIKEWATER5893d ago

Why do people compare Mass Effect to Demon Soul? I have both games and I don't see any resemblance...

EvilBlackCat5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Ps3 Needs KillZone Much More Than Xbox 360

Ps3 Needs God of War Much More Than Xbox 360

Ps3 Needs Uncharted Much More Than Xbox 360

Ps3 Needs Gran Turismo Much More Than Xbox 360

LOL!!!

Time_Is_On_My_Side5893d ago

They are both role playing games, lol.

IdleLeeSiuLung5893d ago

Nope! Not one shred!

PS3 can have it all they want. In fact, I hope they get it!

The more gamers the merrier and I doubt it is a "need" by MS. If it was so, MS would have ponied up the money to buy Bioware long ago.

iFLOWLIKEWATER5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

I guess you haven't played one or the other...huh?

Inside_out5893d ago

What is this fanboy going on about...Every Multi-plat game plays better on 360...EVERYBODY know's that...360 has the best controller ever and the games are developed on the 360 so they look and run better...Have a PS3, buy all multi-plats on 360...Dumb article/post/blog...lol...

Games???...is this guy for real...Lives in a alternate universe where PS3 sells the most consoles and games...lol...Xbox live and xbox360 completely outclass Sony...Microsoft world leader in software development, it shows....

Microsoft HAS the best games, the sales reflect that...PERIOD...

ME 1,2 and 3 will eventually end up on PS3...by then who will care...If your a gamer, you have all consoles at this point...Moving on...

sikbeta5893d ago

"Xbox 360 Needs Mass Effect 2 Much More Than PS3"

But, they have it right...mmm... maybe they're talking about that IF the PS3 has ME, there is not "exclusivity" even if you know that you can Buy it For PC...

edgeofblade5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

I remember a few years ago when I pushed for Shadowrun on the 360 as the game of the year.

I was no less deluded that someone who thinks Demon's Souls was worthy of goty.

@cez of rage: As one 360 fan to a 360 fanboy, -bubbles.

sid4gamerfreak5892d ago

good for xbox 360. Its fine if they have mass effect, ps3 gamers have different games to play with.

You see I can comment without being a fanboy in n4g. Thats a remarkable talent.

Time_Is_On_My_Side5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

I have the first Mass Effect and played Demon's Souls, I'm guessing you're new to this gaming thing? I'll give you a quick briefing, games fall under genres and under those genres are sub-genres.

Mass Effect falls under RPG (Role Playing Game) under that "Action" so it's an "Action RPG"; while Demon's Souls falls under "RPG" under that "Action" at heart, but when connect to the network it's very similar to a "Persistent Online" game when it isn't. That's because you would have to "stay" online for it to fall under MMORPG a.k.a. Persistent Online games.

So in the end people compare the two because they fall under RPG meaning the basic mechanics are the same, it’s just how they are implemented what makes them different. If they were the same people would be sued so they create games that are unique yet same, kind of like all Four-wheel drives have something in common?

I educate the weak, and challenge the strong, lol.

iFLOWLIKEWATER5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

You answered my question, you haven't played ME2. No need to reply any further. Go play Mass Effect 2 then come back and talk. You're like the rest of the people on the outside looking in. Demon's Soul and Mass Effect 2 are nothing alike. I'll let your comment pass about Mass Effect 1, but anyone who has played a lot of rpgs knows that ME2 is far from one. The first Mass Effect is more like an rpg, more so than ME2 anyway...

And you're keeping the weak...weak... with your education. You're definitely not educating me... don't speak on a game if you haven't played it.

Time_Is_On_My_Side5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

Mass Effect 2 is an RPG not because I think so because that's what it is; let me guess Fallout 3 is an Action first person shooter? I know my gaming better than you know the back of your hand, lol.

I'm also guessing you think Metriod Prime games are Action games?

FanboysWillHateMe5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

Xbox fanboys wouldn't start disowning the series and insulting it, which is something I see PS3 fanboys do a lot to their exclusives that become multiplatform. In that situation, the Sony guy says, "Oh, it wasn't going to be that good anyways...gimped gimped gimped" while the "xbot" would be like, "Oh...whatever(shrug)&quo t;

"Xbots" didn't care when Bioshock came to the PS3, but I bet you Sony fanboys would be oh so butthurt if the 360 got Heavy Rain after a year or so. Damage control would be something along the lines of "You're late, you lose."

iFLOWLIKEWATER5892d ago

So my logic(played the game) to your logic(hasn't played the game) equals I don't know what I'm talking about? I'm not wasting my time any longer...

raztad5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

@edgeofblades

Demons Souls was Gamespot GoTY and just FYI Demons Souls IS a great game.

@FanboysWill

If ME2 lands on PS3 I'm sure we will see a lot of sour butthurt x-fanboys. Heavy Rain is a Sony IP, enough said.

BTW i do agree ME and DS has very few in common. Totally different gameplay styles, and focus. DS is about challenge, the story serves only as a backdrop and doesnt play any significant role. ME1 is very story focused. I read the dialog system is huge in the sequel.

Darkstorn5892d ago

I actually preferred Mass Effect 2 on PC to God of War III on PS3 - and I'm a pretty staunch PS3 fanboy.

pixelsword5892d ago

"Kinda makes sense since the first two were on the xbox "

What do you mean first two? There's only two.

ThanatosDMC5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

Lack of "exclusive" games, i guess?

Dont compare ME2 and DS since they're completely different games.

SoapShoes5892d ago

How anyone gave you agrees is beyond me.

So by your logic, Nintendo has the best games because sells reflect that.

I don't care, ME is the only game that would make me buy a 360. But if it were on PS3 i would save my money.

Nicholas Cage5893d ago

agreed, i was on ebay looking at 360's with red rings of death for like 50 bucks, cause a friend can fix them no problem for free! and i can buy mass effect 2 pirated, so all for 55 dollars. then i have all my problems solved.

BYE5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Just get it for PC, it's the better version anyway. Less loading, better controls and visuals. NO disc changing.

A mid range PC will do fine on highest settings due to incredible coding work.

Spiderman5893d ago

Im been thinking about getting Mass effect 2, but havent played 1.

Do you really need to play Mass effect 1 to understand 2 ?

BYE5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

I would recommend playing 1 first, since you can make decisions, build up relationships and get to know the characters which some of them appear in part 2.

It's not essential though. You don't don't need it to understand the story in 2. It's an incredible game either way.

Halo3 MLG Pro5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

ABSOLUTELY you have to play the first one. No question about it. Skipping the first one is like missing Star Wars and going right into Empire Strikes Back. Or skipping the first Matrix or the first Lord of the Rings. Absolutely will not work.

Ceekay, are you kidding me? You don't need to play part 1 to understand part 2? Really? It's a huge continuous story.

BYE5893d ago

@Halo3 MLG Pro

You can absolutely have a great time with 2 without knowing 1. Fact. They even tell you at the beginning what you need to know.

ME2 is designed to be enjoyed without having played the first. When it came out, some people were even complaining about how different the story is with the new enemy in 2.

edgeofblade5893d ago

Dude... what are you smoking? Should I dredge up MGS4 on 360 again? How many times do they have to shoot this rumor down?

I'll certainly eat my words if it does happen, and IF it does, it's great news for PS3 owners... I bear no hostility in that situation.

But where do you get off saying "play it on PC for free"?

IdleLeeSiuLung5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

He is probably talking about piracy which is one of the reasons why PC games are being ditched all the time.

It is ironic how people complain when a 360 game is on the PC, it is no longer exclusive albeit in MS eyes they are both Microsoft platforms. MS loves both their children. When a PC version is no longer released gamers b!tch about how PC developers no longer develop PC games.

Well, duh!

5892d ago
IdleLeeSiuLung5892d ago (Edited 5892d ago )

I didn't say people don't pirate the OS. That is you putting words in my mouth.

However, if you know anything about MS you would know that if you aren't going to pay and just pirate, then MS prefers that you pirate their software.

Games don't have the same business model. There you have your answer.

Unfortunately for MS haters and fortunately for MS, pirates that use Windows still support MS by strengthen their platform through what people are used to using.

Mass Effect 2 is more shooter then rpg in my opinion. It seems someone who says its the best rpg they have played in years hands down means they just don't play many rpgs and prefer shooters. I'm sure I'll get a lot of disagrees but please tell me where Mass Effect 2 excels as an rpg?

As for Mass Effect 2 on PS3 it will come around August this year or February 2011. Depends on if EA signed a 6 month exclusivity deal with MS or 1 year deal.

-MD-5893d ago

"As for Mass Effect 2 on PS3 it will come around August this year or February 2011. Depends on if EA signed a 6 month exclusivity deal with MS or 1 year deal."

Do you actually believe that?

SnukaTheMan5893d ago

Sounds like its a fairy tale in ye old ps3 land......EA would love to miss the opportunity to milk another round of different console owners with mass effect 1.....you believe that I got a bridge for sale...

Eddie201015893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Great game, but it is more of a shooter than an RPG, not a bad thing but true.

I got it for the PC and it runs very well on my AMD Ahlon 64x2 5400+ with Nvidia 8800gts 512meg graphics card with 4 gig of ram with everything maxed except for resolution witch was set to 1400x 900 with 2x anti aliasing.

As for it coming out for PS3, if it wasn't coming for PS3 they (EA or BioWare) would probably just say no it is not, but they haven't. The only thing they have said is that they are concentrating on the Xbox 360 and the PC version at the current time.

Corrwin5893d ago

EA and Bioware have stated they don't have exclusivity deals with Microsoft, they just chose not to put ME on PS3.

I think the ME series will make the jump to PS3, but not until after ME3 is released.

I can wait, if the games are as good as they say they are. And if it doesn't happen, I'll get a very cheap (by then) 360.

Turin5893d ago

@CRCK

I agree with you that Mass Effect 2 is more a shooter than an RPG. This is a bugbear I have with Bioware because I feel they are 'dumbing down' their RPG franchises to appeal to a larger gamer market. It's ironic that I bought a PS3 to play Dragons Age and then bought an Xbox 360 to play Mass Effect 2 (there were other reasons why I bought both consoles but the two games played a large part in the decisions, LOL!). As you probably realize I am a big fan of Bioware but I do feel that both games disappointed me from a purist RPG fan's perspective. Their 'Streamlining' as removed many of the gaming elements I loved in previous Bioware games (i.e. Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, etc). Both are still great games though but neither ranks amongst my all time favourite RPG's, although Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games I have played on the current generation of consoles. But like you I feel the shooter elements are more prominent than the RPG ones.

Corrwin5893d ago

But I'm not buying a 360 for just 5 games :|

Contrast that with the 50 or so I have on PS3.

DelbertGrady5893d ago

Of which 35 of them are multiplats that perform better on the 360.

Treezy5045893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Ok sky boys no need to start the millionth flame war over what multiplats look better on a certain console....take it to the Open Zone ;)

Eddie201015893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Not true, I have about 45 retail games for my PS3 and only two of them I would consider inferior to the Xbox 360 version.

Also of the games I have on the PS3 some of the multi-platform games look better than the Xbox 360 version.

Final fantasy 13, Batman Arkham Asylum, Prototype, Chronicles of Riddick Assoult on Dark Athina, The Saboteur, GTA IV (matter of opinion but to me it looks and runs better on the PS3) just to name a few.

Fact of the matter the differences in console versions are minimal for most games.

This opinion comes from someone who owns both a PS3 and a Xbox 360, But I will admit to preferring my PS3 to my Xbox 360.

Corrwin5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

Hah, yeah Ok. If that stuff matters to you, you should really be playing them on PC, no?

I'm happy with all the multi-plats I have, but still wouldn't buy a 360 just because they might be slightly better on there.

I know it's not your fault the 360 has only a handful of exclusives actually worth owning, but try not to be such a remorseful peon about it.

Also I have to laugh at the morons disagreeing with my own personal feelings. I wasn't expressing an opinion, I was expressing a fact about how I feel about the console. You can disagree all you want, I'm sure it will help you overcome your grief for buying a cheaper system.

@Eddie20101
Same here - almost all games that apparently look so much better on 360 are minimal improvements at best. A lot of it is driven by the media who're looking for web-clicks, whilst simultaneously telling us to "play nice".

aaronisbla5893d ago (Edited 5893d ago )

im starting to notice that when a multiplat performs better on 360 by even the smallest margin, its hailed as head and shoulders above the ps3 version but when it so happens that a ps3 multiplat has the upper hand, not matter the margin, some fanboys on the 360 side say " oh its nothing, if it wasn't side by side, you wouldn't notice a difference" or "gameplay over graphics"

Then some wonder why ps3 fanboys tend to gloat when a game comes out for their system that is ( in quite a few peoples opinion ) one of the best looking console games to hit any system or when a game comes out like FF13 and its pretty well known that the game looks better on ps3. When this happens, they try their best to pick the game apart as if their life depended on.

But hey, in most cases, if the game has a better pixel here or there on your system of choice Soda, by all means, celebrate

Edit: Corwinn, you hit the nail on the head, i will use what you said about playing the best version on pc if it matters to fanboys that much, no matter which side the reside on. Cuz as much as i see Soda and other fanboys go on and on about having the better version, it seems they forget in a lot of cases if there is a pc version, chances are it may be the best version out of all 3, case in point, BFBC2. " Bu, Bu, but i like playing from my couch!" is what they will normally respond with

cry from the sky5893d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan773d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave773d ago (Edited 773d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
