Nintendo Now writes: I was a loyal customer of yours during my past years. I was a faithful customer to both the EB Games and Gamestop franchises until the 2005 merger. This good faith included reserving games readily, paying the extra money to get the strategy guide with the game and including waiting in long launch lines. For example, when Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat was released, I waited in line, on a school night, to be one of the first to pick it up. The employees were helpful, passionate about their games, and driven to make the perfect sale.
Unfortunately, it seems, this is no longer the case.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI
I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise
We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.
Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.
it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.
This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
I find my self using fry's electronics(too bad they're not everyhwere), because i know it will be in stock(that or amazon has release date delivery). the only time i use gamestop is if there is a pre-order incentive. seometimes i get a decent conversation from a vg sales person, buts it very rare.
Yeah things aint what they used to be...aint what they used to be...aint what they used to be nope. Oh Gamestop aint what they used to be....
Gamestop pretty much is a preorder bonus store now
Yeah lots of people use Amazon now to buy their games, and personally sometimes Amazons bonuses are better than Gamestops
EB used to get the games at least one day before all the big stores...
Now all stores get them at the same time and BB typically has a sale or at least a 30 day match price, so why bother buying anyplace else
